(Denver Post)   Three women with three un-belted toddlers in an SUV thought it would be fun to do some drinking and off road 'mud-bogging' at 70 mph. What could possibly go wrong?   (denverpost.com) divider line 146

Investigators believe alcohol, recent rain and reckless driving may have been factors in Friday night's crash of the Ford Bronco, which burned completely, state Trooper J.T. McMillan said.

No, it is the Ford Bronco's fault.

davezog: Not to defend this person in any way, but why would she be going to jail for being a passenger in a car accident? Not fastening her child's seatbelt? Is that her fault, or the fault of the driver? Serious question...

In NYS, the answer would be both.

1. The driver is responsible for ensuring that the minors required by law to be belted are belted or they receive the citation. Adults that are required by law to be belted are responsible for themselves and receive the citation directly.

2. The parents are responsible for their minor offspring regardless if where they are. Being in somebody else's vehicle doesn't absolve them of their parental duties.

Oh come on You know that was shiatloads of fun till the truck burnt to the frame and killed people that didn't get thrown clear.

God damn I've done a ton of stupid shiat while drunk, off roading included. Heck more than one time I've sat in the back of a pickup while it hauled ass around in the mud (sick fun if you never have). I mean the stories I have of girls, beer, and trucks I could write a redneck best seller... if they read.
You know what the difference is? I don't take frickin kids seatbelted or not on any of those adventures. What a bunch of morans.

I tell ya what though, girls dig off roadin. ya let a girl drive off road, she will sleep with you. 80% of the time it works every time.

I was thinking the same thing. This biatch will probably blame everyone but herself.

On the other hand, she was a passenger. For all we know she was the lone voice of reason when the idiot driver said, "Hey, hold my espresso and watch this." What was she going to do, grab her kid and jump at 70 miles an hour? *shrug*

These weren't high class espresso drinking chicks, they are from Griffin, the skidmark in the tighty whities of Georgia.

Tourney3p0: Klyde: Too bad the drunken whores couldn't have killed themselves without the kids being hurt but 2 of 3 is not a bad day for Darwin.

You contradicted yourself.

For it to be a Darwin candidate, the kids have to die. In fact, there's no mention of whether these were their only kids. If they have living kids at home then it's ineligible.

Too many people like to throw out references to Darwin without having any clue at all what it actually means. Is this subject just not taught in middle school anymore? Do the people who misuse and abuse it not realize that they themselves would likely make an excellent sacrifice in the name of Darwinism?

This

The driver, in fact, was not darwined as her other son survived and the other child that died could still have siblings because the mother was the other survivor.

Well if you were in the car and the biatch driving started going 70 mph on a dirt road what would you do? Now at the very least I would expect a reasonable person to tell their kid to put on their seatbelt. Personally, I would do whatever it took to get the dumb biatch to stop and then I'd get out with my kid. And if alcohol was involved I shouldn't have to say anything here. She is responsible for the welfare of her child.

uh, ever written a newspaper article or for TV news? thats how they say stuff, this keeps the writer/newspaper/tv station free and clear of pointing fingers - they can't if they use the word 'may'. uh huhs!

regarding rednecks, I am in Washington state and thats about as far from Dixie as I can get in the U.S. Hell yes there are rednecks here! I am about 2 hours south of Seattle, so once you hit ANY rural counties, well...thats redneck territory.

Its ok tho', we have Indians (the American kind, not the curry kind) and Messicans so it all balances out. Or not.

And if folks were smart about offroading then they would not take kids, use alcohol or high rates of speed.

macker: Typical SUV driver who is invincible in their 'beast' of a machine.

Well, it was a Bronco. Most typical SUV drivers wouldn't be caught dead in a Bronco and wouldn't ever drive their jacked up minivans offroad. At least these people had the decency to die in a fiery wreck in the mud and away from other vehicles. There probably weren't even any traffic delays other than those which will occur as a result of the funeral processions.

I'd take a thousand rednecks in Broncos going off in the mud to kill themselves over one soccer mom in an Escalade or Hummer talking on the phone while driving in a snowstorm anywhere near me.
