When did SNL start doing Don Kirschner style split screen stuff?

2007-12-29 11:41:00 AM
Something tells me it was the YouTube submitter that did the split screen, didn't see this live so I don't know for sure.

2007-12-29 11:47:31 AM
And my apologies for spelling Kirshner wrong...It's only been 30 or so years.

Looks like the lead guy started laughing when Wil walked on. That's always funny when some band is playing and he'd walk out with the cowbell.

Really? I couldn't tell if Homme was in on the joke & tried to play it cool or just really pissed & tried to ignore Ferrel.

How could anyone, especially anyone on SNL, possibly not be in on the joke?

That's awesome. I don't care what any of you haters say, Ferrel is funny as hell.

I don't know how he kept a straight face enough to play the last minute of the song. I guess as long as you forced yourself to look down while playing the solo...but damn it would be tough to look over and see gene frenkel rocking out and try to play it cool.

He's hilarious, as long as he keeps his clothes on. As long as he keeps doing that, I'm-a keep boycotting most of his movies.

Except Stranger Than Fiction, that was the shiznit.

/would like to apologize for shiznit.

I think it's a given that if you play on there he's gonna be playing the cowbell.

Last week the church down from me had people out caroling. I was watching TV when they walked by my house (they only visit members). I heard 'em so I grabbed an empty can and ran outside. The GF asked what I was doing...."they need more cowbell". She was so embarrassed and only one of the 10 people singing had any idea as to what I was going.

That was funny. Not a fan of SNL but damn, Wil Ferrel and that cowbell. Funny stuff. As far as the split..annoying as hell. I could see using a split screen if you were going to show each band member separately. But taking the image and splitting it show it is shown multiple times...annoying. Looks like somebody got their "My First Sony" editing software and got a little too button happy.

fark whoever edited that. Probably the youtube douchebag. I love me some QotSA, though.

Anybody else here get a kick out of the singing part of "Don't Fear The Reaper" on Rock Band containing a Cow Bell Solo?

When it came up, I almost screwed up laughing so hard.

Does anyone know who that drummer is? He's wearing a little league shirt from my hometown, which is odd as its a real small town...

I can contain pretty well, but my friend who's on drums constantly starts busting up at some point going "I'm sorry...I can't....just remembering him walking up with the cowbell right in his face....AH HAHAHHAHA!"

We have yet to get five stars on that song.
