I have to agree with 19Cranes. How can this be considered ironic?

2002-10-16 08:23:35 PM
If I had any idea being a sniper would prevent Joel Schumacher films, I would have started shooting people *years* ago.

"Phone Booth," which centers on a man who answers a ringing pay phone and learns he will be shot by a sniper if he hangs up, does not have a new release date.

No big loss. Jeezus, what a crappy plot...1 1/2 hours in a phonebooth?

Don't these admins even check the link before they post it?

Who cares? the guy in DC isn't a sniper, he's an asshat. What kinda feel-good sensitivity bullshiat is this? its Hollywood! Violence is violence on any day.

2002-10-16 08:29:42 PM
I wonder if the DC sniper was a test screener?

2002-10-16 08:30:58 PM
If I were that guy, I'd drop the phone and walk away, but that's just me.

2002-10-16 08:32:34 PM
Sounds interesting.

19Cranes - An attitude like that is exactly why Joel Schumacher isn't going to make any crappy movies about you.

2002-10-16 08:33:12 PM
I actually had the misfortune of sitting through the trailer of this movie last week. Didn't even have enough plot to fill 60 seconds, let alone 90 minutes.

2002-10-16 08:33:51 PM
Jim Carrey and Will Smith read for this part. Can you imagine?

2002-10-16 08:34:39 PM
ok, so he sits in a phone booth the entire movie..?

or what? i dont get it...

2002-10-16 08:36:19 PM
I had to sit in the Miami airport one time for 5 hours. I wish someone had shot me in the head.

2002-10-16 08:40:04 PM
Stupid farking pansy asshat oversensitive idiots. .... What the world really needs is some good desensitivity training.

2002-10-16 08:40:17 PM
For those who don't understand irony, this is ironic because snipers usually force us to go see crappy Joel Schumacher flicks. God knows that I saw the last two Batman movies *only* because someone had crosshairs pointed at my head.

2002-10-16 08:40:42 PM
Lamest. Plot. Ever.

Kinda like 'Speed' without the action... only the brilliant acting and dialogue /sarcasm

2002-10-16 08:41:07 PM
I dated a Schumacher once. It wasn't Joel, but his name was Charlie and he was crappy. We had been dating about a year when he slept with a friend of mine/ I found out because one night I happened to look under his bed and I noticed a condom wrapper. We didn't use condoms so I questioned him about the condom wrapper under his bed. Mr. Schumacher told me that while he was waiting for a bus, my friend came on to him, followed him to his apartment, grabbed his manhood and took advantage of him. That's what the headline reminded me of.

2002-10-16 08:42:22 PM
This would be mildly ironic if the sniper had killed Joel Schumacher.

We need a "silver lining" tag.

2002-10-16 08:42:28 PM
I actually think that's an interesting plot for a movie. If done correctly and for a 22-minute show.

2002-10-16 08:42:29 PM
That excuse is about as thin as the Joel Schumacher plot book.

2002-10-16 08:44:01 PM
"Phone Booth" was a relatively low-cost film for Fox, with a budget of about $12 million

Ya think??

shiat.

Watch the trailer, its really quite intense.. I think it looks like a good movie..just bad timing. I would still go see it. maybe they should release it. awesome trailer.

2002-10-16 08:49:01 PM
The movie's premise looked great, it was creative and very different, and people are too over sensitive. I have a solution for people who can't handle the movie.. DON'T PAY THE SEVEN DOLLARS IT COSTS TO SEE IT.

Volpa -- it only costs $7 to see a movie where you live?

Sounds like you at least stand a chance to get your money's worth :-)

I've been waiting for Phone Booth for quite a while. Not all of the movie takes place inside the booth. There is some exposition about Collin Ferrel's character and a climax after he manages to get out of the phone booth.

Also, a woman on the street is shot and the police respond thinking Ferrel shot her and the sniper doesn't want to be mentioned or BOOM, the game is over.

In total, the movie looked pretty darn good, straddling the line between suspense and dark comedy.

A better movie plot would be Joel Schumacher working against the clock to write a good movie, and if he turns out a crap plot like Phone Booth he gets shot by a sniper. Now that would be ironic.

On another note, the blonde chick in the middle of the 3 that pop up in the SbB ad at the top of the page is totally farking hot

2002-10-16 08:57:45 PM
I thought Tigerland was pretty good.

2002-10-16 09:05:23 PM
JaneDoe that's some quality stuff right there...probably alot funnier than the movie from any point of view. Kudos to you since you've been farked by a Schumacher more times than the rest of us (well, just a guess, not implying anything).

I think it's more like 3 hours in a phone booth, but that's nothing compared to the next piece he's writing. Outhouse.

Don't miss his next box-office hit, "Paint Drying"

2002-10-16 09:25:54 PM
methinks Schumacher is the sniper going after everyone whose made fun of his movies

2002-10-16 09:27:22 PM
I really wanted to go see that movie. It looks pretty cool to me, regardless of what you guys think. Forrest Whitaker seems to be an odd choice, but I think he'll do fine as a negotiator. I just really like this whole extremely tense/dramatic premise that the movie functions on. Still, it was really, really freaky to hear the sniper saying stuff like, "I am aiming a .50 caliber bolt-action rifle at you right now. At this distance, the exit wound is about the size of a small grapefruit," before watching The Transporter. I don't think anyone in the theater was not thinking of what's happened in the D.C. area.

2002-10-16 09:29:17 PM
I think that it's amazing that the movie takes place in Times Square. Movies.com says the filming was done in nine days. That is amazingly fast for any movie.

If you look at the glass in the trailer, it shifts from being unbroken to having a shot through it, particularly during the "intro" scenes of the trailer. It shifts between a disbelieving Colin Farrell to an outside view that reveals a hit, presumably from a later point in the movie.

2002-10-16 09:32:15 PM

Can Forrest Whitaker even fit IN a phone booth?

2002-10-16 09:34:31 PM
I have to go take a crap... maybe Joel can film it for early Oscar release.

2002-10-16 09:41:24 PM
If you guys wanna see a movie with an almost exact plot as this, try watching this.

2002-10-16 09:45:09 PM
Schumacher has made some shiatty movies, it's true. But he also made decent ones: FLATLINERS and FALLING DOWN. I also liked THE LOST BOYS as a kid...
I think this new movie looks like it could be good and I think it should be released despite the current events...
