Spaghetti western? So they're going to be producing it in Italy?

2007-12-27 01:07:16 PM
Not being Italian, can they actually make a spaghetti western?

/don't know if the Coen brothers have any Italian in them or not...
//Sergio Leonne FTW

It's more of a genre now. Think Sam Raimi and The Quick and the Dead

Similarly, one the best giallos is the American made Alice, Sweet Alice

/Yes, Sergio rules like no other.

I'm hoping the chicken scene isn't an homage to Pink Flamingoes.

AlanSmithee: Think Sam Raimi and The Quick and the Dead

For some reason, I like that movie way more now than when it first came out. I was in high school then, so maybe I just didn't have enough appreciation for Westerns.

Also, I really liked the Evil Dead series and Darkman, so The Quick and the Dead sort of went against my expectations for a Sam Raimi movie at the time. Watching it now, I see that it's very much a Sam Raimi movie.

It's weird how some movies seem to get better with time, and not just for the cheese factor. Although I will say that I liked The Fifth Element when it first came out.

Supposedly No Country for Old Men was a 'gory horror'. I saw no gore, I saw no horror. All I saw was a guy roaming around the desert for an hour and kill someone with a button of a metal gas bucket (I still can't figure that one out).

And supposedly Tommy Lee Jones got top billing, but I recall seeing him like twice.

/Sorry, I was expecting great things from that movie and got JACK CRAP.

Narrating? Hell no. Sam Elliott gets the starring role, and Jeff Bridges does the narrating. Just wait until the saloon scene when he tries to order a white russian.

Cagey B: Cool, was the movie version rescued from Kevin Smith?

Kevin Smith is doing it? God I hope it goes strait to video so I dont have to puke up my lunch when I see it in previews. Kevin Smith is going to eat half of it, coat it with ad's and then shiiite all over it before trying to serve it to the general public. I hope he gets killed in a gay orgy gerbil and ausphixiation attempt gone wrong so that some real director can have a crack at doing it right.

You know, reading Rottentomatoes it's surprising how many reviewers didn't actually get what that was. I suppose it's that they're all sheltered city kids with no idea that you can run power tools with something other than electricity, but geez, Tom Bell figures out what it might be and tells us in one of his little stories, that's how I figured it out.

What now? You mean the cattle gun, I presume. Considering its identification and method of operation were explained rather clearly by Jones' character, I have to conclude that you really didn't pay attention to the film.
