someone's excited for gta vice city...

send in the tanks.

2002-10-16 10:33:36 AM
WAAAAAAAH! REPEAT!

There, we've got that out of the way.

2002-10-16 10:33:49 AM
If he jumps over that one bridge he can bring it down to 5...

Good headline.

2002-10-16 10:34:09 AM
I made this same comment to my brother in law (who is borrowing my gta3 right now) last weekend...

2002-10-16 10:34:24 AM
Time to start scouring the alleys for those Police Bribe powerups, sniperdude.

2002-10-16 10:34:37 AM
Aw, shoot.

2002-10-16 10:34:53 AM
great headline

2002-10-16 10:35:35 AM
I've only got one thing to say:

R2, R2, L1, R2, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down

2002-10-16 10:35:38 AM
My whole beef is that the pop media conglomerates are so starved for advertising that they can't give the police enough temporary secrecy to actually catch this guy.

Guess in a world of 6.5 billion, one client a day isn't much to spend for the attention of a huge portion of the rest. I mean, we can always make more right?

2002-10-16 10:35:51 AM
Let's hope he doesn't swap his Yankee for a Rhino.

2002-10-16 10:36:11 AM
lmao at padraig!!!

2002-10-16 10:36:12 AM
To continue the metaphor, a pay n' spray actually WOULD help him quite nicely.

Incidentally, military in a police investigation makes me uneasy as hell. I'd be buying some guns if I lived in DC.

2002-10-16 10:37:04 AM
OMG where's slayerswine, I hope he's alright!!!1 OMG LOL ROFL

2002-10-16 10:37:41 AM
"But at least a half-dozen potential suspects are under round-the-clock surveillance, Bloom reported."

*looks out window for any Crown Victorias parked outside*

2002-10-16 10:37:43 AM
That headline sucks. We don't have nearly as many insane jump spots in the DC area to make such a comparison.

2002-10-16 10:38:57 AM
hmm, military drug war surveilance planes, eh?
Something smells rotten.

2002-10-16 10:40:13 AM
Actually, going sniper only gets you to three stars, maybe four. To get up to six you have to break out the bazooka.

2002-10-16 10:40:25 AM
Get Barretta on the case! Oh, wait he's anavailable...

2002-10-16 10:42:11 AM
Kill 20 Yardies in 2 minutes!

2002-10-16 10:43:14 AM
"We again don't want to create tunnel vision," he said. "We want to keep an open mind. We'd like for people to look at the big picture."

Say What??

I'm surprised they didn't try to shoehorn in a "We want to think outside the box."

2002-10-16 10:43:31 AM
Dinglenuts good point. But that is the way the media operates, it latches onto something and you hear the shiat out of it. Remember the Michael Jackson thing in the early 90's? Not that this should be compared to Michael Jackson but the coverage is the same.

But did you ever notice how the media and news is all about negative and scarry things? What happened to the time when you could rescue a kitten and a child from a tree and get on the news? You could get on the news if the TREE WAS ON FIRE... cause there is danger and suspence. Farking news.

2002-10-16 10:43:58 AM
Wait, you have overlooked the best... "I thought this fool was going to want to get out of the van and duke or something. But he didn't. He kept on going."

Heh, heh, heh... duke?

Duke sucks.

2002-10-16 10:46:04 AM
Duke? Not Bo and Luke, I hope...

2002-10-16 10:46:12 AM
Phew, I can only hope those military drug planes are half as effective at catching this sniper as they are at stopping drug runners.

3 cheers for winning the war on drugs!

2002-10-16 10:47:09 AM
Your Boss:

Put up your dukes, man!

2002-10-16 10:47:11 AM
TarPond I think you mean OJ Simpson, not Michael Jackson. It's ok though, that probably happens all the time.

JackHandy You don't need to look for the Crown Vics, just the Flowers By Irene trucks. (a cookie to whomever gets the reference..)

2002-10-16 10:47:19 AM
Point 1: They now suspect an AK-74 (not 47)... gun nuts can regale us with info about the gun, anti-gun nuts can shut the hell up about gun control as this is hardly a gun you buy at the corner store.

Point 2: What's wrong with this dude that "heard a shot" then proceeded to successfully block a guy in a white van that got pissed and went a different way? You could have been a farking hero, dude! Chase that sumbiatch down! Or were you in too much of a rush to get away from the scary gun fire that you couldn't be a farking world hero with your face on the front page of every newspaper?

2002-10-16 10:48:59 AM
that really is a top class headline

2002-10-16 10:50:08 AM
*looks at his gta3 pc box*

*ponders*

Let's hope he can't fly a dodo...

*Gets in his infernus and drives away*

2002-10-16 10:50:17 AM
TarPond, they still have that kitten rescue stuff on the news, it just comes after the murders at the beginning of the newscast.

2002-10-16 10:50:47 AM
Donkster
Point 1: They now suspect an AK-74 (not 47)...

Ummm....the AK series use a 7.62mm projectile, not a 5.56mm that equates to a .223 calibre...Who said they think it's an AK, and what crack are they on?

3Horn

pr2
2002-10-16 10:50:56 AM
Donkster
sure chase a guy that has a AK-74, let me know how that works out.

2002-10-16 10:51:17 AM
One4k4 no I did mean Michael Jackson (cause we watched a video on it in Soc class the other day), but the OJ case was a better example. I didn't think of that one.

2002-10-16 10:51:18 AM
Van??? Duke??? NO!... Van DYKE!

Police bulletin: Be on the lookout for the Van Dykes.. oh wait, or was that the Van Halens???

2002-10-16 10:52:32 AM
Don't see any flower trucks, but oddly spotted Emilio Estevez and Richard Dryfuss walking into the house across the street with doughnuts and coffee...

2002-10-16 10:53:26 AM
One4k4: "Flowers By Irene trucks"

Wasn't that on the Simpsons?

Flowers
By
Irene

2002-10-16 10:53:30 AM
"The witness said the assailant fired an unusual weapon that looked like an AK-74, not an AK-47, and which in some models is capable of firing the .223-caliber rounds the killer has used."

I want an award for "Only Person That Reads the Articles"

2002-10-16 10:54:13 AM
all the sniper would have to do is stand on top of the italian bistro, then the only thing that could get him then is helicopters

OBB
2002-10-16 10:55:12 AM
Flowers by Irene? Simpsons reference.

2002-10-16 10:55:28 AM
On a more serious note, when will we see the media begin to really pin this one to video games. We've already heard several "experts" explain how this guy might be thinking he's in a video game or influenced by video games. This is sensationalist stuff. All we need now is some footage of sniper action from GTA3 and we've got yet another video game outrage.

It happens because the media is all about sensationalism and the general population is stupid.

2002-10-16 10:55:44 AM
Quetzlgumby they do? I guess I don't watch the news near enough any more.

I really feel bad for the people living in and around the DC area, because if I lived there I would not step outside of my house for anything!

2002-10-16 10:56:46 AM
Awesome headline!

He should use R2 L1 R2 R2 up down up down up down

2002-10-16 10:56:59 AM
Hey, I read the atricle... Let's just hope Uncle Jesse and Crazy Cooter aren't upset by the duke reference.

Woogik! (Roscoe reference for you young 'uns.)

2002-10-16 10:57:07 AM
Whoooppteee dooo. In other news, the Bali terrorist attack has killed nearly 200 people.

2002-10-16 10:57:25 AM
I rolled 200 dollars in coins so i can buy a PS2 for vice city....go me!

2002-10-16 10:58:24 AM
Anyone else notice that the NBC infographic has room for a total of 14 victims?

[/paranoia]

2002-10-16 10:59:08 AM
Great! Now I have an urge to bring out my copy of GTA3 and play it again, but the in-laws are in town.

Where's a damn sniper when you need one...

2002-10-16 10:59:44 AM
One4d4

The Simpsons. Where's my cookie?

2002-10-16 11:00:25 AM

2002-10-16 11:01:28 AM
Farkanoid: But the DC area people getting killed are innocent civilians, unlike the Bali people who are... um... not?
