Don't give DC and the territories quarters. Give them dimes.

2007-12-25 10:14:40 AM
Ummm, Yeah, they aren't States. So, yeah so they shouldn't get a Quarter.

See, that is how it works ok, join the union get a quarter. Otherwise, go F yourself.

2007-12-25 10:15:15 AM
They want "State" quarters, then they can become states and pay taxes. Otherwise, STFU!

2007-12-25 10:15:37 AM
Damn. Scared me there for a min. I thought we were granting them statehood.

2007-12-25 10:17:43 AM
Figures. If they want all the same things as a state, then they damn will better vote to become a state.

2007-12-25 10:18:23 AM
FTFA To date, around 30 quarters have been minted.

That's odd I have all 30, and I am pretty sure my brother has all 30... I know some of my friends have gotten them as change... how many counterfeit coins are out there if the mint only made 30?

Phil McKraken: Don't give DC and the territories quarters. Give them dimes.

WIN!!!!

Props to PNC for making it to Fark. Rex, Jane, Ray and Travis, keep up the good work.

It is amazing how one guy can slip something into a Bill (that nobody reads) and get it passed. If you were a Senator or Representative, think of the possibilities!

Phil McKraken

Don't give DC and the territories quarters. Give them dimes.

You sir are full of epic win and deserve 50 interwebs as a prize.

Those people are American citizens (save for the American Nationals in American Samoa) just like you and me. Show some respect.

Is anybody smarter than a 5th grader and can name them all?

argoncranes: Those people are American citizens (save for the American Nationals in American Samoa) just like you and me. Show some respect.

Once they show respect by paying taxes I will reciprocate by allowing them to be on quarters.

I sense a photoshop contest soon.

OK all you creative Farkers, find a winner for the new entries to the quarters map.

I'm out as, like Ben Affleck, I have no talent.

argoncranes: Those people are American citizens (save for the American Nationals in American Samoa) just like you and me. Show some respect.

Yeah but there is a difference between statehood and being a territory... something about taxes, or voting perhaps?

2007-12-25 10:30:50 AM
I assume the check is in the mail for the $7.95 I paid for my 50 state quarter series collection book, that is now useless and antiquated. I'll be waiting by the mailbox. That is all.

2007-12-25 10:31:40 AM
They must have felt left out.

2007-12-25 10:33:18 AM
Why the fark is New York trying to represent territories? They aren't states!!! Sigh, I just don't get it. They should be considered last and least. They should have no voice in our government. They can become a state whenever they choose. Want it? Get it.

I hope that New York ass gets voted out. Or do his constituents actually give a shiat about Guam and Puerto Rico???

2007-12-25 10:34:40 AM
In a way, by definition, America would is actually an Imperialist Nation with all of these territories.

2007-12-25 10:36:17 AM
Can't we just group them all together into one quarter named "Other"?

2007-12-25 10:36:38 AM
I say we either make them states or make them sovereign nations. We did that with the Philippines.

//assuming Quantumbunny does too, but is just being a prick about it.

How about you pay some friggin' taxes you jag-offs! Then we can talk minting a friggin' quarter!

FTFA: Gov. Felix Camacho

Is he by chance also a porn star and a professional wrestler ?

Hmm. I've got 43 -- every state except Wyoming, Utah (minted late this year) and the five due next year: Oklahoma, NM, Ariz, Alaska and Hawaii. Oddly, the collector board I have has space for six more off the Atlantic Coast.

rurdy: Is anybody smarter than a 5th grader and can name them all?

All the citizens of the U.S. Territories? Well this will take a while but I'll try. Starting with Puerto Rico; there's Juan (both Papi Juan and Juanzito), and Guillermo, and Elena, and Linda, and Carlos, and Adrian, Adrianna, and Jennifer...

2007-12-25 10:49:42 AM
Maybe England should get a quarter..they kind of like us and then France cause I guess they do too now...and then...and then...

2007-12-25 10:49:51 AM
about 30, eh?

Try 46 (new window).

TFA wishes it could aspire to epic failurehood, but will have to settle for the run-of-the-mill kind.

2007-12-25 10:52:40 AM
For those urging the territories to become states, they'd LOVE to, but congress won't let them. 50 states and 100 senators are too nice of round numbers to mess with.

2007-12-25 10:53:00 AM
Forty-six, too. (new window)

//speaking of run-of-the-mill fails ...

Hahaha, all those grandparents that came into my work this year buying the state quarter books for their grandkids are gonna be PISSED!

/why do they think the kids would be excited? I would have rather have had the $12.50

If unibrowed, inbred, knuckledragging, drooling white trash get Senators, why not D.C.?

2007-12-25 10:57:12 AM
I really hate this territories nonsense. It makes me feel dirty that we have people in America who are so clearly second-class citizens.

Either statehood, or independence, or we let them merge with another nation where they can be full citizens. But it's just gross to be ruling over people who have no control over their destinies.

2007-12-25 10:58:14 AM
the giant federal spending bill

This part makes me sick.

And the law was signed in 1997, not 1998.
And, the un-states have tried five times to get their own quarters, and have always failed.

Puerto Rico votes on statehood every few years. Last time I visited there, they voted no. Of course, why vote yes, you get most of the benefits of statehood but don't pay taxes.

2007-12-25 11:01:29 AM
These are STATE quarters not TERRITORY quarters.

2007-12-25 11:01:30 AM
Can we also put Israel on a quarter? This would be much cheaper than all the aid we send them per annum.

but don't pa Federal Taxes!

The 30 is wrong. I'm up to date and there are 45 out. (Oklahoma's next up.)

Also, milestone greenlight! #60!

Hmmm... New York, Congressman? I think there's a pretty fair chance that a large portion of his constituency cares a great deal about Puerto Rico.

Ain't nothing in Oklahoma except steers and Kwier's, and a lot of meth-odist, and crackheads.
