I am a warrior in the WAR ON FESTIVUS.

Anyone who would denigrate Festivus understand that I will be coming for you. This is not a threat but a promise.

2007-12-22 09:23:30 AM
I got a lot of problems with you people...

2007-12-22 09:24:45 AM
It is now time for the Feats of Strength.

You people on FARK have let me down and I need to list my greviances.

My dad HATES Seinfeld but he loves Festivus. He was working on his list of grievances last night.

Odd that he hates Seinfeld. He LOVES Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Good. I find tinsel distracting. Happy Festivus.

2007-12-22 09:37:52 AM
I put up a Festivus pole last week. I don't know if I'm going to take it down after the 23rd or just leave it up a while longer.

2007-12-22 09:41:49 AM
Will the new "pole tax" be appllied to my Festivus Pole?

2007-12-22 09:48:01 AM
Leave it up. Nothing says "lack of pretension" like a good aluminum pole.

Leave it up until someone pins you. Until that time, Festivus is not over. Challenge anyone who asks for it to be taken down to a wrestling match.

My attorney Mr. Chiles and I are filing suit over the lack of Festivus related programming at NBC.

Festivus is not necessarily on December 23rd. It was celebrated on that date on Sienfeld based on the episode's original air date and the day off Kramer had asked for. The guy who wrote the episode talks about this and much more Festivus lore in the special features on the Season 9 DVDs. His father invented Festivus as sort of a joke and the family celebrated it whenever, even in February. The writer was sitting around talking about Festivus to the other staff members and they told him that he had to write it into an episode. There was no Festivus pole. The more you know.

It's also my birthday tomorrow!

Seriously, we had a pretty funny thing going, hilarity was ensuing, and you had to inject your "facts".

Tomorrow, radionman_ you will be the first grievance I air.

and Christmas traditions originated from a pagan celebration called the feast of the Son of Isis. So no need to get too far into detail.

Happy Festivus!

That's OK. Christmas isn't on the 25th, either.

Festivus is bullshiat. A joke. Sing me a Festivus song. Come on now.

COUGAR... my son tells me your company STINKS!

2007-12-22 10:35:30 AM
I actually had a Festivus party this year, complete with airing of grievances.

The feats of strength were arm wrestling, hula hooping, and gift wrap tube fighting. We had meat loaf.

2007-12-22 10:37:20 AM
Ummmmm... Kruger. NOT cougar.

Oh Festa-Pole, oh Festa-Pole, of all the poles most shiny

Oh Festa-Pole, oh Festa-Pole, of all the poles most shiny

Each year you bring to me spite, grievance in the Festivus night

Oh Festa-Pole, oh Festa-Pole, of all the poles most shiny

Oh Festa-Pole, oh Festa-Pole, with high strength-to-weight ratio

Oh Festa-Pole, oh Festa-Pole, with high strength-to-weight ratio

Your shaft so silver, under crawlspace hole, and does not fade in winters glow

Oh Festa-Pole, oh Festa-Pole, with high strength-to-weight ratio

Each year you bring to me spite, grievance in the Festivus night

Oh Festa-Pole, oh Festa-Pole, of all the poles most shiny

Are you really that daft Man?
Festivus is all about no songs, no tinsel, no traditional BS.
Just airing of grievances, Feats of strength, a celebration pole(preferably aluminum), and a feast with family and friends.
Now, prepare to display your feats(or lack thereof)!

Ummmm...listen to it again...closely.

It sounds like Frank only calls him "Cougar" towards the end; all the other times he calls him Krueger.

I only watched the video twice, though, so feel free to Air your Grievances if I'm in error.

Happy Festivus, whenever you and your loved ones choose to celebrate it.

It's my birthday too - I'd much rather "Feats of Strength" than birthday cake!

This is what I hear:

Introductions: Cougar
Grievances: Kroger
Final: Kruger
/and a happy festivus to you and yours

I, too, am a Festivus baby...assuming Festivus is always on the 23rd of December.

I tried to destroy Christmas this year...tried to get in touch with my inner-Grinch. I might have struck a cord here on this group I started:

Stiller's pronunciation gaffs apparently were numerous. There was an outtake of him trying to say "Del Boca Vista" that was painful to watch.

Some of the early episodes are amazingly simplistic and pared down. It's classic sketch comedy, but it isn't brilliant until much later. I can see people getting a bad taste in their mouth at first.

In honor of Festivus, I will be making a $50 donation in all Farkers' names to The Human Fund.

I have a festivus pole up in my bedroom for 365 days a year. Its only a festivus pole for one day. The rest of the year my wife uses it to practice. Merry Festivus!

2007-12-22 01:29:55 PM
Happy Festivus to all of you. I have a long list of Grievances, and if I had the chance I would challenge every one of you to pin me and other assorted Feats of Strength.
