Yell at a cop and get tazed. Fire the cop. Fire the cop's supervisor who is defending her. Unbelievable.

thefuzz1096: How is calling all cops "pigs" because of the behavior of a few any different then calling all African Americans the N word because of the behavior of a few.

You had a cop take 4 hours to respond to your burglary, so all cops are lazy. I had a Hispanic dude break into my car once... does that make them all thieves?

I really don't see why it's alright to generalize about the entire population of police based on the actions of a small percentage, when you change the word "police" to any gender, ethnicity, religion, etc... you're branded as a bigot. Generalizations about any population are wrong.

That's the thing, race, creed, whatever you want to call it isn't an issue in this case. The only person who mentioned that is was a 400 lb black cop and the only thing I thought about afterwards was eating a hot stack of pancakes for some reason.

Seems like you are reaching for something just to call people who don't like cops, bigots.

I don't care, I am not the one who becomes psychologically unstable after years of working on a job...like cops.

I am not in a marriage that has a 75% divorce rate...like cops.

Talk to a cop when he isn't a cop, he or she will probably tell you that being a cop sucks.

Don't worry

Yes, what a capital idea. Cop has bulletproof vest, guy with gun doesn't, so cop clearly has the right to critically injure guy with gun.

Aside from the pain and spasming, I'm relatively sure a tazing won't kill you unless the cop is really malicious with it.

Yelling at a cop is not illegal.

This is not the country I love. This is totalitarianism.

bigot

a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group with hatred and intolerance

Most of the people calling cops assholes in this thread demonstrate a complete failure of logic only seen in fundies and brain damaged vegetables. Cops can be dicks, the power goes to their head, yes that happens. But what is your god damn brilliant solution to it? Get rid of cops because a few of them are assholes? Well why don't we get rid of black people since a few of them are punks? Do you think videos of cops letting people go with warnings and acting nice will make it into the news? No, the only videos that show up online are the ones that show cops acting like dicks and to you people that justifies stereotyping them all as assholes.

I don't know what scares me more: That cops can seemingly use TASER weapons on non-violent citizens for any reason they want, or that people are so quick to defend them when they do.

Mike Cucumber: Seems like you are reaching for something just to call people who don't like cops, bigots.

Call it prejudice then... pick whatever word you like, but making gross generalizations about an entire population of people (race, religion, creed, hair color, shoe size, whatever) based on the actions of a small subset of that group is pretty narrow minded.

I don't care, I am not the one who becomes psychologically unstable after years of working on a job...like cops.

Do you have any stats to back that up, or is this another "My friend knows a guy..." kinda things?

I am not in a marriage that has a 75% divorce rate...like cops.

The large divorce rate comes from the stress of the job, not an inherent flaw in the officer. How does this go anywhere to prove your cop=pig theory?

Talk to a cop when he isn't a cop, he or she will probably tell you that being a cop sucks.

I talk to plenty of them... I haven't heard that general sentiment. I did have the woman behind the counter at Borders tell me that she has nightmares about her job. I guess cops and booksellers can be lumped into the same category.

Don't worry

You'll get over it.

Not sure what I'm supposed to get over... I'm just posing the question about how one form of prejudice is different from any other. Still haven't quite gotten that answered though.

Vigorously prosecute the ones who violate people's rights or overstep their authority, and fire them perminently if they are found guilty. Eventually the good cops (if there are any) are the only ones left.

Ah, how simple. Everyone between jobs, works from home, non-9-to-5ers, etc., is a presumed troublemaker and oughta be hauled in and beaten about the head and shoulders till they confess to something.

(It turns out it's also easy to pinpoint angry tools who were raised on whoopass and fear and get up every day wanting to slap the world into line.)

Granted, you don't see news headlines that state, "Police officer does the right thing!" Of course the bad ones are the ones that we all talk about.

Unfortunately, you almost never see one of those good cops coming out and saying, "Yea, what this other cop did was wrong, and I'll help prosecute him!" Good cops who hide behind the blue wall of silence, and do not help root out the bad ones, are just as deserving of condemnation.

Nothing is a "tazing". The acronym stands for "Thomas A. Swift's Electric Rifle. Keep your crass, zee-ified, quasi- culture away from the English language.

That incident was not TASER material. The mercenary viewed the woman as an animated object that wouldn't hold still for manipulation. The government legislates people into the status of property objects susceptible to state manipulation, however the agenda requires.

People who trot out the "should" and "asked for it" deserve none of the scraps of lost humanity they counsel us to surrender. They are bought and paid for, and busy selling the product.

The cop was definitely in the wrong. That said, I don't think the cop should get fired over this.

Instead, I propose a new rule to deter taser-happy cops from zapping anyone who looks at them cross-eyed.

From what I hear, before they're allowed to carry a taser, they first have to get zapped with one in order to get an idea of its effects. I propose that they should have to submit to a fresh tasing for each time they use their tasers, just to refresh their memories.

//Tasing is perfectly harmless, right?

All we have to go on are the media reports, which skew heavily towards the misuse and against responsible, accountable police work, partially because those stories make better headlines. It's a gigantic mess.

I like 33mhz's proposal to zap the officer back at the station once for every time he uses his TASER on duty. If they're used properly (as substitutes for deadly force) the officers have nothing to worry about.

You know, I truly and honestly enjoyed the fact that once I thought cops were genuine in trying to make a difference in a given society.

After years of dealing with situations that needed cops, they turned out to be the worst situations ever.

Again, my girlfriend at the time gets in a wreck with a person who runs a redlight, it was a block away, the cop that ran the report said to us if WE FILED A REPORT, OUR INSURANCE WOULD RISE.

Despite it sounding weird, we thought that John Q. Law knew best and went with his advise, even when it was the other parties fault.

3 weeks later, we find out the other party didn't have any insurance, a towable offence in Fort Worth, cop didn't do anything about it.

The other party get 15k out of our insurance, just because we didn't file a report.

Now tha being said and with all the other BS that other police officer interactions I come across, it make me pretty damn leary of taking the advise of another one.

Now I agree that generalizations shouldn't have been used, but until a DECENT police officer proves to me otherwise that MY GENERAL opinion of officers are pretty low, I will still continue to think that most are just doing enough to get by on their job.

When you're worried about someone you love, you kind of tend to get absent-minded and jumpy like that, for fark's sake. That's the kind of stuff that pisses me off too. I won't deny the fact that there are some lazy farkin' cops out there... those that are just doing enough to get by on their job.

I have the advantage of being on the inside of that group... of seeing the self-sacrificing shiat that my friends do every single day for a city that would rather see us dead then on the job. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's asshats like those that make the news that make the rest of us look bad. You hate bad cops, fark... I hate them too. I just have the benefit of knowing that those lazy farkers are a small percentage of the people that I work with. It's that small percentage that makes people hate us... hate us enough to post things like "Shoot for the face and/or neck, they wear vests" and post pictures of bloodied cops and calling it justice.

You and I hate the same bad cops... just for different reasons.

I suppose I should consider myself lucky I didn't get tazed a few years ago.

Around 2 AM, I am awakened by the smoke detector going off in the hallway of my apartment building. I get up throw on some clothes and check it out. The whole farking hallway is full of smoke.

I go back into my apartment, call 911 to report this, then scoop up my cat and get out of the building, depositing the cat in my car in the parking lot.

By this time, every one is out and the fire department and cops are on the scene. OK, fine.

It soon becomes clear that our building manager found the cause of the fire: a drunken bimbo across and down the hall from me passed out, drunk off her ass, and left something on the stove. He gets her out, moves the stove and puts out the fire before it can spread.

The problem is that the whole place is full of smoke still. However, I see the firemen repeatedly going into my apartment, even though it is long since clear no one is in there and LEAVING THE farkING DOOR OPEN! I closed it to keep the smoke damage to a minimum, yet they leave it open. I go to one if the firemen and tell him I am the only occupant of that apt. and to please leave the door closed to keep out the smoke. He then tells me I am interfering and if I don't STFU, he'll have me arrested. So I back off, but still, politely, ask that he close my door.

Two minutes later, I am confronted by a cop, one to whom obviously the fireman ratted me out. He also threatens me with arrest. WTF?!? I am just trying to protect my property and I get this shiat?

A bit later, I go back to the parking lot to check on my cat. The cop foillows me. As I peer into my car, he asks me what I am doing. "I'm checking on my cat that I evacuated. You want to arrest me for that?" I respond. Yeah, I am plenty pissed by now. I am sure that the only reason I didn't get tazed and/or arrested was that there were two female witnesses to that.

Yeah, and this is the same gaaadam poice department who could not be bothered to even come out the four times my car was broken into or when my out-going mail was stolen.

fark them all.

bitteroldman: I'm surprised Fark is so slow to have this story.
MSM was running it non-stop this morning.
What TA doesn't mention is that the call she was taking was a message about her child being sick. I can't remember the details, but it was an important call about her child and the cop was doing the whole "Command and Control" thing on her when she told the cop to shut up so she could take the call and find out about her child.

I have learned, while teaching, that parents are completely unreasonable when it comes to anything involving their children. Did this deserve a tasing? Probably not. Is that woman a moron for not waiting the whole minute to return the call when she was done with the transaction? Yes. I'm sure it could have waited for a little tiny bit. The 60 seconds wouldn't have made much difference either way. I'm sure the hours she spent dealing with the police took a lot more time than finishing her purchase so she could go deal with her sick kid.

I just want to know if this complete lunacy with children happens to all parents. I'm not feeling particularly inspired to have children if I'm going to turn into a completely irrational idiot once I have them.

Please, someone tell me it's possible to still be a thinking person after childbirth?

Are you a troll, or a cop?

Tasers are supposed to be used only where the alternative is deadly force.

But thats wrong. Do you understand that you are wrong? Tasers are used parallel to pepper spray and in line before the baton, in most jurisdictions. It's equivalent to tackling someone to keep them still.

I don't advocate police overstepping power, in fact this officer should have really never ordered the woman to do something or go somewhere just because she's being loud or irate. BUT, when the order is lawful, and you don't obey, you can get tased.
