Despite Lance not being there, the astronauts installed TV cameras

That is absolutely vile, SLAYERSWINE.

The extension of the middle radiator was meant as a test to make sure all the moving parts work.

Yes, but did they have to extend their middle radiator towards Iraq?

To be honest with you, I'm sorely dissapointed at NASA because I always thought at this time in the 21st century, space travel would have advanced enough so that commuter tpis to space would be possible, and then I could experience wild space sex. Sadly, this will not happen in my lifetime **sniff**.

How many billions were spent on this worthless floating monument?

Thanks NASA! I can't wait to reap the benefits of this tax money toilet.

This monument doesn't actually float per se but "falls" continuously so as to orbit the earth.

Lance Bass is a tool. Is that why they're letting him ride along?

2002-10-15 04:15:59 PM
"But it's not over 'til the fat lady floats," he told reporters on Sunday.

Those wacky NASA guys. In space, no one can hear you not laugh.

Actually Lance Bass was never set to fly with NASA. His flight (as with all paid space travel thus far) was with the Russians. Good attempt but if you want to be ironic make sure you have the facts straight.

These aren't the droids you're looking for.
Move along.

If you ever wanted to go into low earth orbit (without chemical aids), go see IMAX 3-D Space Station.

Yes, it's in 3-D, and that monster screen and that killer sound system makes you think you've actually arrived.

I took my whole family to see it, and everyone was just blown away.

Then we went back to the hotel, I copped a buzz, and my wife and I went back to see it again. It is great, straight or stoned.

Space station is so 1990's. When are they going to send someone to mars already?

Hmm, Drivinwest hasn't checked in yet. I better fill in.

More money spent on defense, nothing compared to Apollo program (9% of budget every year for a decade), Space = cool, benefits on earth from space research, etc, etc.

I think I covered anything.

"It looks like it's moving pretty fast, guys - but not out of control," shuttle astronaut Sandra Magnus told Mission Control.

Go Sandra!!!

\show of UMR pride.

Bondith

Yeah, your abridged version will have to do for now, I've got a headache.

Scarneck & Severin

If you have any hope for mankind making it off of this planet and colonizing another, you have no choice but to support ISS. How people expect to "just go to Mars" without having a clue how to survive the trip or build a vehicle in space is beyond me. Amongst many other things, that's what ISS is teaching us. Baby steps...

By all means, you should question government spending. It's an American thing to do. Alas, NASA's portion of the federal budget is infinitesimal; a fraction of 1%. If you want to biatch, you've got about 100 government agencies to hit before you ever get to NASA.

You really should refrain from forming strong opinions on that which you know nothing about.

Skinink

To be honest with you, I'm sorely dissapointed at NASA because I always thought at this time in the 21st century, space travel would have advanced enough so that commuter tpis to space would be possible

It's not NASA, it's the lack of funding. Becuase you, Joe Public don't want to fund it, it doesn't happen.

Becuase you, Joe Public don't want to fund it, it doesn't happen.

"My daddy works, and the government takes some of his wages in taxes. Then they ask him what he wants. He tells them he wants to watch television, and the government pays someone to invent it."

Dunno what that has to do with anything. Something in the quoted statement triggered an association in my brain. That nonsense can be found in The Science of Discworld by Terry Pratchett and a couple of Pommy professors. It's good science, accessible to the layman yet not dumbed down. The Bondith Book Review gives it two absent-minded-don't-bug-me-I'm-reading thumbs up.

Your odds of ever going into space are the same as winning every state lottery offered at the same instance. Needless to say, unless your a multi-millionaire, sex in space will have to stay in your brain.

And to the ASSHAT who said something rreferring to funds going down the toilet... well ASSHAT, all you have to do is look around that poor apartment of your's and surely something will have come from some research done in space. From plants to Teflon components, many, many great things come from space research.

And L.Bass is the greatest ASSHAT of them all.
