He's still my least favorite of the three. I think it was his debate performance

EDWARDS: Mr. Vice President, we were attacked. But we weren't attacked by Saddam Hussein. And one thing that John Kerry and I would agree with you about is that it is...

IFILL
: You just used John Kerry's name.

EDWARDS: Oh, I'm sorry. I broke the rule.

One thing that we agree about is the need to be offensive in going after terrorists.

The reality is that the best defense is a good offense, which means leading -- America returning to its proud tradition of the last 75 years, of once again leading strong coalitions so we can get at these terrorist cells where they are, before they can do damage to us and to the American people.

John Kerry made clear on Thursday night that -- I'm sorry, I broke the rules. We made clear -- we made clear on Thursday night that we will do that, and we will do it aggressively.

WTF is this? Short attention span theater?

Poo_Fight: If anything conservatives want to run against Edwards and Obama. Most people don't know who they are.

Hillary we know, and she has a past I'm sure will be wheeled out to the delight of the right. But there is no shortage of people who would line up and toss a vote to her just so they can say they voted for the first female president. Especially up here in the NorthEast.

Never under-estimate the power of stupid people in large groups- (On either side of the aisle.)

THe problem is Hillary will lose the women vote. It's actually women that despise her the most. Probably b/c she didn't dump Bill after his numerous affairs. Not exactly the best example of a strong woman. :)

I'll bet this is a plant... by the Edwards team.

Bill Clinton boffed an intern, rode high in popularity ratings, and got treated like a rock star after he left office during his book tours. Women shamelessly threw themselves at him, drawn to some bizarre image of animal sexuality in a presidential package. He lost nothing important from the whole Lewinsky debacle, and secretly gained stature in a way, the same way Edwards will.

Stay with me, this is going somewhere.

Bush 43's supporters used to tout him as the guy you'd want to have a beer with. His naivete and lack of social graces were considered an asset. The argument went that average Americans could relate to the bumbling wonder, as opposed to his better-spoken opponents, who represented elitism, or hippies, or being French, or some damned thing -- but whatever that damned thing was, it was what somewhere around 60 million voters saw themselves in opposition to. Bush appeared to be an average guy who made average mistakes. Clinton appeared to be an average guy (recall the jokes about "Bubba" and jogging to McDonald's prior to the Lewinsky Era) who engaged in a fantasy of many people; shagging members of the opposite sex without apology. Never mind their educations, riches, connections, whatever -- millions of Americans sympathized with their character flaws and errors of judgement.

Enter Edwards' mistress.

Instead of the rich lawyer with suspiciously perfect hair and a noble wife dying of cancer, Edwards can portray himself as Joe Average, with Joe Average desires and a Joe Average habit of cheating on his spouse. Consider the number of Americans who've cheated on their spouse, plus the number who've seriously considered cheating on their spouse, plus the number who've fantasized about cheating on their spouse and would have little guilt (just a bit, mind you, but not enough to matter downstairs) about doing it given the opportunity.

Edwards FTW in '08. Bank on it.

CaptainFatass: This is funny. All of a sudden the right-wingers are dropping all of their Hillary hate to gang up on Edwards, who up until now has been in third place. I'm betting a poll is coming out tomorrow showing a big surge for Edwards, and this will be revealed for the desperate preemptive strike it is.

Unless all of you right-wing fags want to man up now and admit that you consider National Enquirer a reliable source.

I would not be surprised if the Clinton hate machine is behind this. You know: they'll start yelling "vast rightwing conspiracy!" That old chestnut.

Yes, yes; whatever negative press occurs has been doled out by the Clinton campaign. The right-wingers have been trying to push this one for a month now, looking for whatever cover they can find to hurl their shiat from. Classic projection technique there.

Here's a clue: It's going to backfire on them big-time, and it's going to be hilarious. The Clinton campaign thinks three steps ahead of whatever dimwit Republican strategist you can put out there, and she's helping her fellow Dems with that knowledge. There is a world of hurt coming for the Republican party and its candidates.

Most of you blowing this off would be calling for his head if his politics didn't suit yours. Thompson = Zzzzzz...wha, get off my lawn FAIL

McCain = ZOMG FAIL

Why can't we get some good candidates who want to actually do good things and not just pander and spend money? Why are we locked into this two party oligarchy? There hasn't been true democracy or even a republic in this country in probably over 100 years, very sad.

As long as we're talking rumors about who cheated, back in '78, the rumor was going around Texas that Dubya was cheating on his wife and the mistress had an abortion. Used to know her name, but it's been years. And back then, he wasn't mr. born again pro-lifer. Don't believe me, it was just a rumor. Do a search, I bet there's something on these here intartubes about it, as long as they aren't too full to deliver my mail.

Yeah, it's true; the Repubs are farked, big-time. They should be focusing on trying to imbue their candidates with at least a shred of integrity, rather than relying on the tried-and-failed mud-flinging. That way, the inevitable electoral landslide won't be quite as embarrassing.

I don't put a lot of stock in polls but here goes

Rasmussen

for the Republican Presidential Nomination. It's Mike Huckabee at 23%, Rudy Giuliani 17%, Mitt Romney at 15%, Fred Thompson at 13% and John McCain at 13% (see recent daily numbers). Ron Paul currently attracts 7% of Likely Republican Primary voters nationwide. The rise of Huckabee has thrown the race into disarray and it is impossible to project who will win the nomination at this time.

In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, it's Hillary Clinton 40%, Barack Obama 24% and John Edwards 14%. Bill Richardson is supported by 4% while Joe Biden and Dennis Kucinich are each supported by 3% of Likely Democratic Primary Voters.

Didn't Huckabee's son do a Michael Vick on the family dog or something I heard recently?
