This is probably what's going through the shooter's mind.

To all the farkers that live in the area of these shootings, I wish you and your families well. My thoughts are with you. I would be terrified if I lived in close proximity to these horrible events. I can't imagine how you must feel.

tons of people are murdered by guns each day. the media is looking for ratings!

i wanna see this persons face, because it is always weird to think they were the sniper the whole time

2002-10-15 03:43:32 AM
Thanks Affy. I live in the area of one of the shootings, and while I do catch myself doing things a little differently than I might have in the past from time to time. I pretty much go about things as normal, just trying to think rationally, and realize that even with this piece of crap out there my chances of being killed on any given day over all have not gone up much. There were risks in life before this guy. There will be risks after he's gone. All we can do is try to live each day to the fullest, and hope for the best.

That being said I would still feel much better with this piece of garbage off the streets, and I pray that that day is coming soon.

This may sound cold, but...this is bigger than just a few people being killed. Thanks to these shootings, the government will, no doubt, install video cameras anywhere and everywhere. Privacy will be a thing of the past, one step closer to total control over the people. I don't like it.

I'm sure she had it coming, they all do...

Well said, GJ. I saw the news people on TV flashing the picture of the lady pumping gas while hunkered down all weekend and it made me sick. When I filled up this weekend I just made sure I moved around - and that I wasn't near 66 and the Sunoco - although I was across the street from a Michaels - AAAARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! Make it stop!!!!

2002-10-15 04:50:37 AM
err, at least the laws of fate dictate that...

2002-10-15 05:00:46 AM
Fark Jurassic Troll Remover!!! Priceless!!!

The only reason I'm up at this ungodly hour is because I went to bed with this even more ungodly news. I've got to try and get another hour of sleep - it's going to be a loooong day. I though he/they took Columbus day off. What the hell is this world coming to when we can relax because the sniper takes weekends off??????

2002-10-15 05:01:46 AM
Don't mind me - it's the sleep deprived babblings of someone who desperately needs her sleep.

2002-10-15 05:05:07 AM
Hey,
Aaron Brown put me to sleep. Did I miss anything?

2002-10-15 05:11:25 AM
Thanks Elvira. Yeah, it seems like a pattern of one a day shootings, and skipping weekends has definately developed for this guy.
Because of this I've heard it sugested that he must be a family man who can't hide what he's doing from his family on the weekends as well as he can during the week when he goes off to work.
If this jerk does have a family it makes that much more difficult for me to understand how he'd be capable of bringing harm to so many other peoples families.

Uh, insert another "it" in there somewhere. I think it may be getting near time for me to go night night as well. ;-)

christ, someone shot at a guy at a gas station here in Indiana...

Obviously this is not directly related to the shootings in this area, but has anyone heard any details on this?

2002-10-15 05:37:22 AM
I was starting to profile the sniper, then I realized he already had a profile. Calling the proper authorities now.

2002-10-15 05:41:47 AM
OK. Here's his profile.

Just food for the brain(s)...

The word "Michael" is a Hebrew word which means "who is like God."

2002-10-15 06:40:40 AM
do you think this guys is an internet junkie?

spends all day on his cable modem - chatting away, playing UT2003 and getting all worked up, then when he's low on beer and catfood, goes out to the local gas station, picks a few things up and shoots somebody.

Maybe its even one of you farkers. Fark is a big site. saw a report once that said its about the 13000th most visited site on the net. chances are he's been here... Maybe even registered.

looking through these posts i was trying to figure out which comment looked most like a maniac's but theres too many of them.

I have a better solution.

If your the sniper and your reading this, please post your home address details and a time when it would be most convient for the local authorities to pay you a visit.

Oh, and also, find a chainsaw, remove the safety bar, bring it up to speed and sit on it.

c@$ksucker!

Gun manufacturers need to stop making guns.

Anti-gun laws are never going to work. just need to stop them at the source.

some of big manufactures need to shut up shop. in 50 years or so there would be very few guns left.

most of them would become collectors items.

Think about it. there isn't a single reason why you NEED to shoot something. Its like cigarettes - guns don't do a single good thing for anybody.

i told u lots he would.

Allbeitmine:

And police could protect themselves with really sharp knives and the military can throw bananas at their opponents while they are being fired upon...
They don't do any good but if you get rid of them you're screwed. Kinda like nukes. If we get rid of nukes we have no leverage and any country that DOES have nukes has no reason not to remove our country from the map.
It's too late to get rid of gun and nukes and war. All we can do now is whine about it and dream of a world where peace is possible.

2002-10-15 07:40:15 AM
It's about time for this guy to be captured/killed. One week is understandable...but two weeks now and he's still getting away with it?

2002-10-15 07:44:37 AM
You know, if we could get this Star Wars missile defense shield refined, we might have an anti-bullet shield system.

2002-10-15 07:46:15 AM
Yeah, CJCDN. Double digit death toll. That's when we put our foot up his butt.

2002-10-15 07:49:48 AM
I had a dream last night that they caught this guy.
His initials were T.B., and that they catch him speeding away from the 12th shooting after he gets into a minor fender bender but doesn't stop. They catch him somewhere in Richmond Virginia. I went to bed last night not knowing he'd shot again, so this kinda freaked me out when I saw the news.

The Michaels connection is not a coincidence in my opinion. I outlined the case for this last Thursday if you want to search the archives.

How difficult is it for the cops to understand that, whether or not this person is affiliated with these stores, he's going to strike near them?

Why aren't they staking out the 20 or so Michaels stores in the area?

They don't even have to see the actual shooting to be able to view the comings and goings of various delivery persons, probably using different vans from a service fleet.

I don't buy the "waiting for a white van to drive by" explanation, partly because it would require a vulnerable vantage point and/or a prolonged period of waiting while in position. Then you have to get lucky enough to wait for a white van driven by a person who will flee the scene in a reckless manner. Add to that the reports that the white box truck was spotted at various scenes during the initial spree, and it makes a poor case for someone capitalizing on media reports because at the time of those sightings there weren't any.

You could probably do the stakeout with less than 100 cops for the ENTIRE region. Have one watching the back of each store, one at the front, another within 1/2 mile to provide immediate backup, and a few more within a mile but in between the site and any major interstates. Note tags and vehicle descriptions all day, and if there is another shooting you can compare time of day vs. travel time and at least have a few registered names to look up.

Is it worth the effort? Hellfarkyeah. Maybe they're already doing it.

From the "chills down my spine" dept....

While perusing Drudge for a moment, I ran across this separate article on the sniper.

Specifically, this paragraph gave me the willies:

According to news reports, the Defense Department also has been asked to search records from the sniper school at Fort Bragg in North Carolina for applicants and former students who may have developed psychological problems.

Several murders took place at Fort Bragg a couple months ago, most committed by soldiers recently returned from Afghanistan.

It's a little distant, but I wonder if anyone normally stationed at Fort Bragg is on leave after a tour in Afghanistan, and has a home in the Montgomery Co. area. It's a wild guess, but if DoD is being asked to look in that direction, it may give credence to the "military/ex-military" profile put forward by some here.

2002-10-15 08:17:43 AM
I think that he doesn't even use a white van. I mean how hard is it to sit around from a far looking through a scope until a white van shows up. Perfect wild goose chase scenario.

*calms down*

2002-10-15 08:28:51 AM
For the person who asked how many others were shot today but didn't get in the news, the most up to date information from the FBI (from 2000) says there are about 15000 murders a year in the US, and 65% of those are done with firearms, that means there have been about 25 other murders today.

2002-10-15 08:29:44 AM
Unperturbed,

There were several white van reports by witnesses during the first spree. Why would he have been waiting for white vans before anyone knew about him?

He couldn't possibly have known that fleeing white vans would create such a diversion before all the press speculation placed the focus on the white van.

It makes more sense to me that the vehicles are part of his job, which is part of his alibi, and his opportunity.

The multiple vehicle aspect has people coming up with off the wall theories to explain away the lack of a single, easily identifiable suspect. We may simply be dealing with multiple vehicles stationed in varous locations. It could be one pair of coworkers or a worker and a tag-along accomplice, or even multiple teams of shooter and driver.

The Fort Bragg thing could be unrelated. There have been a lot of suspicious killings in that area over the past 10 years. One of my best friends died from a shot to the head while "cleaning his gun". He was special forces, and had been around guns all his life. Several other people in the area who shared his name or a variation of it also turned up dead. Very sketchy.

The sniper is employed by Bush. Remember his daddy used to run the CIA?

"Oh, we would never kill our own people."

Really? Then why did we do bio and chemical weapons tests on U.S. civilians on U.S. soil?

"So why would Bush want to kill his own people?"

Well, Harvard Watch came out with a full report of the Harken scandal where they confessed the Harvard fund was used to prop up Harken stock until Bush could sell his. They have the minutes of Harken board meeting where Bush agreed to the scheme.

The sniper attack is a nice little distraction, isn't it?

We almost forgot about the Anthrax attacker. I'm betting he works for Bush too.

I think he's purposely avoiding young adults. It's highly plausible the enemy has been instructed not to upset people of prime fighting age. It's all intentional and deliberate. I believe no young adults will be targeted.

Enjoy your peace rallies while your parents and younger siblings live in abject fear. It must be horrible to try and live your life in and around DC right now.

Control:

For one thing, I submitted a piece on the Harken Energy report and the Harvard bailout to Fark. It won't be posted, but not all of us rely on CNN for news-entertainment.

For another thing, you've made no evidentiary connection between Dubya, Daddy Bush, and the CIA, just wild speculation.

Chances are, the Harken thing would barely have made page five. After all, it's not a big story, Dick Cheney said so, probably right after scuttling an independent 9-11 commission. I have full faith in the major media organs to fully ignore a story that could deny tnem future access to any White House resident, regardless of administration. Tom Brokaw must be allowed to break bread with Jiang Zemin, after all.*

*-Thanks to Greg Palast for a phrase I'm going to run into the ground.

Why is it that conservative cheerleaders easily accept "wild speculation" that a horny hick from Arkansas is capable of mass political murders and international financial treason, yet bristle and point the accusational Finger of Paranoia at anyone who notes connections between the Bushes, their CIA resumes, and their ties to corrupt multinational conglomerates like Enron and Halliburton?

Some hillbilly with a boner and a good rap is the real antichrist, but DON'T YOU DARE accuse Dubya's backers of anything but "compassionate conservatism".

Riiiiiiiight. Color me unconvinced.

Actually it's hold for short shots, exhale for long ones. Though I suppose that means he needs to exhale. This is literally not five minutes from my house in arlington. I could walk to that home depot in ten. Jesus man. I'm so going as this mutha' farker for haloween.

Oh, Scrotar, if you see this - still have your reply, will get back to you... eventually. I get easily distracted.

Not me, SchlingFo.

I hate both sides and I'm on an "I truly despise the government" rant.

Remember when in "Independence Day" the aliens blew up the White House and conservatives in theaters cheered cuz they hate Clinton? I'm cheering for the aliens no matter who's in office.
