FTA ~ Added Donahue, "Yeah, I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of religion, but don't become a salesman. Don't hawk it like that on the street."

This man would disagree (new window).

Too far ?

Not far enough by a long shot, I want to know which Republican candidate to support by their absolute dedication to their faith and willingness to throw it into the face of others.

Donahue, the president of the Catholic League and an ardent defender of Christmas in what he believes is a secular "war" against the holiday....

So..if he like a general in the war on Chistmas? I mean, I'm sure he wouldn't consider himself enlisted, because that's for peons, so he's at least a Lt. Col, right?

Huckabee is doomed to failure in the general election. Where does he go then? Punditry. Donahue is just trying to take out his future competition. There's only so many dipshiats to bilk Christian dollars out there, you know.

Don't buy into this crap, guys. Donahue is a right wing operative. Look at the Board of Directors for the Catholic League. It reads like a who's who of Republican shills: Brent Bozell, Kate O'Beirne (sp?), Ramesh Ponnuru, etc.

Donahue will ignore conservatives when it comes to faith when advantageous. He ignored Swift Boat Liar Jerome Corsi when he made anti Catholic comments on Free Republic (new window) (and it was brought to Bill's attention).

The whole point of this is that the Republican party is freaked out about Huckabee since he actually walks the wall with the JAY-ZUS-AH!!! crap, and he's not all that interested in tax cuts. The message has been sent out, either literally or just implicity: Huck must be destroyed. He's this election cycles Howard Dean.

Jaykzo: Rupert Murdoch has held fundraisers for none other than Hillary Clinton. Wtf?

I think those were Senate fundraisers, she represents New York and he has a lot of media there. Or maybe he wants her to win on the Democratic side because he thinks she will lose in the general election?

Huckabee is sickening and disgusting.

I'm gay and re-registered Repu(gnat)blican to vote for Ron Paul. Why? Because all the promises in the world about "anti-discrimination" legislation is worthless if the Constitution is gutted.

I feel my vote will be more effective as an agent provocateur in the Republican party rather than even bothering to vote Dem--- as much as Obama is appealing.

///Godspeed Obama... maybe next time :-/

And I wish them the best of luck in that endeavor. Most of the GOP field is a pretty sorry bunch who'd do nothing good for the country, but Huckabee would very likely be the end of anything recognizable as the United States. A country with concentration camps and slavery is not a country worth its continued existence.

A follow up to my last post, from Publius at Obsidian wings (via Sullivan):

The fear [of Huckabee from the right] is not of fundamentalism itself. The fear is losing. On some level, they know that these positions freak out mainstream America. That's why Bush fumbled about on Roe v. Wade during the 2004 debates and could only bring himself to speak in code (Dred Scott). The backlash shows that these people - like much of the GOP establishment - are ashamed of this coalition. They're happy to make out with them behind the football bleachers on Saturday night, but ignore them in the lunchroom on Monday.

But still, the GOP needs them. And so the deal has been that "the crazies" stay below-radar in return for below-radar policies (e.g., judges, denying funding to international organizations who don't believe in abstinence-based policies). Huckabee is a threat because he violates the terms of the unspoken deal.

Huck proposed, and has refused to repudiate, putting AIDS patients into 'isolation'. Given the large number of AIDS patients and the fact that the disease takes a long long time to kill anyone, this is unlikely to mean the isolation ward at your local tertiary hospital, but rather, some remote, secure location where they can be locked away -- that is, a concentration camp.

He has also repeatedly stated that wives should be their husbands' slaves. Granted, he has not yet put forth a policy proposal on this matter, but given that he does not appear to draw a distinction between governmental policy and theology, it's quite likely he'd attempt to codify this in law.

Hardly. There's a better chance I'd be allowed to get married if I chose to do so if Ron Paul was President.

Allowing the States to decide things like gay marriage makes much more sense than electing Dems who could barely defeat the Defense of Marriage Act.

And I don't see any Democrats (with the exception of Dennis?) running who would be a champion of Gay Rights. So why not get a champion of Constitutional rights?

No matter what, I will NEVER vote for Hillary. That pandering biatch has done nothing for the Gay community and, as I previously said, is a neo-con in disguise.

40% of the population today has been born during a time when only a Bush or Clinton was in office. The system is broken.

Todd300: 40% of the population today has been born during a time when only a Bush or Clinton was in office. The system is broken

Total population of the US: 299,398,484

Total population under age 18: 73,735,562 (24.7%)

Eighteen years ago was 1989, when Bushiatook office. So 40% is quite an overestimate.

What a hilarious video.

Fox News: "What's a pentacle?"
Donahue: "I have no idea, but these people just want to compete, to take away from Christmas. When it's their holiday let them do it, but don't ruin Christmas." (paraphrased)

Yeah, because there's never been a pagan celebration around this time of year that Christmas borrows liberally from. Nope, nope, nope.

What do you people want? You could complain all day about separating religion and politics, but when a respected member of the religious side says enough, you jump all over him. Make up your minds or STFU.
