God the Falcons are made of fail...

It's bad when you make Nick Sabin look classy.

Great headline, hilarious. +1, I only wish I could do more

eikni: It's bad when you make Nick Sabin look classy.

No crap, Arkansas just bought themselves a mercenary who'll be out the door at the first opportunity.

I felt a disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddently cried out, "Huzzah!" and then were silent.

What an asshole. I'm no Falcons fan, but that pisses me off. You don't take a gig and then dump it just cause- not if you've signed a contract.

Herbstreit just reported Miles has taken the Falcons job!!

2007-12-11 07:19:18 PM
So can Grady Jackson come back to the Falcons now?

From_The_Year_2000: Herbstreit just reported Miles has taken the Falcons job!!

But he's wrong. Miles agent has been trying to get a hold of Arthur Blank because LSU is saying he either has to sign a new contract or they'll fire him.

Unfortunately, Arthur Blank is busy getting fried chicken and he isn't answering his phone.

From the AJC:
"I feel real fortunate that we have a terrific guy leading our football team," Blank said on Monday. "Our CEO, our coach Bobby Petrino has done a terrific job dealing with adversity this year. He's proven to me that he's a better head coach than I ever thought he was going to be, dealing with the set of cards that unfolded this year." Owner Arthur Blank said he spoke to Petrino on Monday, and that Petrino assured him that he would be back for his second season with the team."

OK, on Monday you reassure the owner that you'll be around for next year. Tuesday you pack up on leave. Real classy.

/no Falcons fan
//And fire the guy who's responsible for hiring Harrington. He stinks of Fail!

In other news, why does fark always point to sports stories on SbB? And just for them to have a SS of ESPN's page? Who is brooks sucking off? His site sucks, their writing sucks, they arent very informative, and they post what looks like trannies every other day.

Nick Saban thinks Petrino sounds like a great guy. And now they'll play every year!

Y'all are totally misinformed:

Miles signed a contract extension with LSU through 2012 on Thursday. His salary will depend on whether the Tigers beat Ohio State in the Allstate BCS Championship Game in New Orleans on Jan. 7.

If LSU wins, the contract provides Miles must become among the nation's top-earning college football coaches, no less than the third highest paid. University officials estimate that would put his annual earnings between $3.2 million and $3.5 million -- but that could grow depending on contract negotiations with other coaches.

Should Ohio State win the game, Miles' contract would increase to at least $2.8 million annually based on LSU's SEC championship this year.

I don't see why this is so shocking. I think Arkansas painted themselves in the same corner that Alabama did last year.

People are leaving for Arkansas

Been to both places and if I had a nice paying job I would move almost anywhere to get away if it wasnt for family keeping us close.

Ron Mexico wishes he could go to Arkansas.

Well, I'm pumped about it. Although I wont believe it until at least a week AFTER the press conference where he is introduced, calls the Hogs, etc. and buys a house in Fayetteville. Then I'll believe it.

And subby, fark off with your tag.

scottofwolfpen: I wonder if Arkansas is his "dream job" like Louisville and Atlanta were.

I'm sure it is.

For the next 3 or 4 years, until another dream job comes along. One that pays him even more.

I don't understand why anyone would hire Petrino at this point, especially at the college level. Douchebag has set a new standard for disloyalty.

2007-12-11 08:14:49 PM
Not even an hour ago I heard it was Will Muschamp the Allbarn D coordinator

2007-12-11 08:15:55 PM
hopefully, the falcons will pack up and move. maybe get a fresh start on things.

and this, is from a guy who has grown up in atlanta, and been a falcons fan since i was old enough to sit and look at the tv.

//falcons fans have a thing or two on the catholics for pain and pennace.
///patriots defector since 2001.

long live chris chandler.

Well, in his defense, Arthur Blank was just going to fire him at the end of the season anyway, 'cuz it was obviously his fault that they traded away the good backup since, of course, they had Mike Vick...

2007-12-11 08:31:17 PM
This should make for a good game next year when Arkansas plays Auburn. It was Petrino who was involved in the Lowder scheme to get rid of Tuberville. Tommy will have a bit of extra incentive to smack Petrino around a little.

2007-12-11 08:31:24 PM
As an LSU fan that has watched some close, tough games with Arkansas over the past decade, I for one applaud Coach Petrino's move.

/Geaux Tigers!
//This should give us an easier November date in the SEC West for the next few years.

Another great Michigan candidate gone because Michigan was spending all of its energy wishing for Les Miles.

T-Boy: Another great Michigan candidate gone because Michigan was spending all of its energy wishing for Les Miles.

There is no way in flying hell that Michigan would have hired Petrino. None. They don't want a guy about whom they'd have to worry about bolting in a few years, they hope to hire a guy who will be there for 15 years if he's doing a decent job and won't have the wanderlust.

I have a feeling that might be why they aren't looking at Brian Kelly, though I don't think they should be overly concerned with that for him, given his background in the state of Michigan.

2007-12-11 08:53:07 PM
I don't care if he's douche bag or not. If he can call better
plays than HDN. He can boink and text all the female TV anchors in a 100 mile radius and no one will care.

/feels sorry for Ole Miss fans//

The irony of this all when you think about the whole Jim Mora Fiasco.
The Falcons got what they deserved.

Please explain this. I am a life long Falcons fan (masochist). I honestly do not understand what you are saying.

2007-12-11 09:40:33 PM
you know I think he did a douche bag move, but then again if you take a job that promise a "Dynamic Piece" like Michael Vick, and all of a sudden it was taken from you, that job would suck.

2007-12-11 09:52:03 PM
It's Chris Redman I feel sorry for. Back to selling insurance.

2007-12-11 09:52:05 PM
Agreed, he signed up to coach the "Vick Falcons". The very worst case he was imagining was getting a number of good players in trade. With Vick in the pokey he doesn't even get that.

If anybody was disloyal it was Jim Mora. In a radio interview last year while coaching the Falcons he said that he'd take the Washington Huskies head coaching job (that wasn't even available) even if the Falcons were in a playoff run. He claimed he was joking, but that's a pretty stupid thing to say regardless. He was fired after that season and as much as the Falcons suck, I don't miss him. I'm also not going to miss Bobby Petrino. As someone mentioned already, where in the world was Jerious Norwood, the most big-play potential player on the Falcons, this season? He was sharing time with a washed up Warrick Dunn. I think NFL franchises should know by now to not mess with hiring college coaches.

Is June Jones still alive? If so, I bet he's free.

Chastain86: Is June Jones still alive? If so, I bet he's free.

Yeah, he will be coaching Hawaii against Georgia in January.

I am a Falcon fan. What really hurts is the player moves they were making to appease Petrino. Better sooner than later, though...Bill Cowher, anyone?

Cowher if he will come. I think Singletary might like a shot at it, defintly a no nonsense kinda guy there. What a train wreck this year has been. Guess theres no place to go but up.

/sorry forgot about the Dolphins

Atlanta Falcon, I miss him because he was young and did stupid things like that and it's what the falcons needed.

They need a couch like Jim Mora or Sean Peyton for this crew.

2007-12-11 10:41:56 PM
So no Farkers have ever accepted a job that wasn't exactly what you thought it would be or were told it would be? So the "hell yes I will take a few million or so less NOT to be here" hasn't ever crossed your minds then.

I take it as a win for both. Falcon's lose someone that really didn't fit and Arkansas gets someone that may not hang long but at least is not Houston Nutt. Not Houston Nutt.. music to my ears. I would have taken Applewhite and been happy.

The "coach killer" did it again by killing dogs. A hell of a man. As proved by his non-jailed teammates wearing his number in their face paint. It was and is Vick's team.

2007-12-11 10:49:50 PM
As a Falcons fan, I hope that we hire Jason Garrett to run our team.
