Duster

You people are cruel. These poor obese people can't help being that way. How can they be expected to eat healthy when the devilish tempation of thick sliced bread distorts their reasoning and makes them eat it. No, only the almighty power of the state can save these victims from the horrible grasp thick sliced bread has on them.

I think you have missed your true calling. Deliver me from the temptation of bread.

Iron Chef Scottish: Guys I pay minimum wage can afford to do their Christmas shopping in NYC, such is the relative strength of Pounds Sterling to the US Dollar.
Kilgorn suggests the UK has reached a new low. I venture that getting your news about the UK from Fark/The Daily Mail/The Bolton Bollocks is a rather poor way to form an opinion about this country.

Oh I know, my family business does a TON of business with England and we get screwed on the exchange rate.

I was more poking fun at your strange slang.

If the bread is too thick, or someone is concerned with calories, could they not cut the bread down thinner, eat half the sandwich, or request thin bread?

When I buy a sandwich at a deli, I always say, "Small. Really small. Think half the size what you normally make," because I think deli sandwiches are too big. By specifying that I would like a smaller portion -- you guys are going to be amazed by this, by the way -- I get a smaller portion.

Try not to be too impressed by my ingenious tactics.

Truth is, anyone who is obese didn't get that way because of bread and bread alone. No matter how thick the slice is on their sandwich.

Obviously the people like the thick bread more, otherwise the businesses would give thin bread to get more sandwiches out of the loaf.

What I think it is, is people on diets that want to get around being on a diet. So they think: I am on a diet, so I should only have one sandwich rather than two. But I prefer thick sliced bread (which is about twice as wide as thin sliced bread), and of course with thicker bread you need more filling or the sandwich will be too bland, so they put twice as much in. So they get to feel good for dieting without actually sacrificing any actual quantity of food being eaten.

Is supernanny going to send all of bolton to the naughty stool when they have thick sliced bread?

I understand where they are coming from as they have socalized medicine and everyone pays for that fatass having that extra bagel or having that super sugary drink or even that cigarette. But sometimes, you just need to let people do their own things. If you are seriously scrounging around for money and doing this? you are sad.

keep right on buying, that's money straight into our economy. You have to realize that the US dollar is still the most sought after in the world, (not opinion, fact) and we can adjust inflation at will and until people like you stop coming over here and spending money, we'll be doing pretty well, especially on industrial exports.

My favorite sandwich recipe (I'm an American):

Buffalo Finger Sandwiches:

Ingredients:

1 medium size male American Bison, or a buffalo if a proper bison is unavailable)
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp garlic
1/8 tsp paprika
2 thick slices of bread
1/2 Tbsp Mayonnaise

Liberally coat the bison with the salt, garlic, and paprika. Broil at 350 degrees F for approximately 10 hours, 6 hours for convection oven.

Toast the thick slices of bread. Spread generously with mayonnaise. Place the bison gently on toast, top with the other slice of toast. Eat with your fingers. Pairs well with Michelob, Pabst Blue Ribbon, or the blood of a Frenchman.

zn0k: I Said: I'm not familiar with the Bolton News, so I'm going to assume this is satire until I hear otherwise.

google indicates it isn't - but it does only have a publication of 35,000 or so and seems to focus on pretty retarded shiat, so i am questioning the whole "the house of lords has been listening with interest". sounds more like some retard managed to get some time to talk about something retarded and the paper picked it up and ran with it.

It's a local newspaper. Bolton's not a big place. So yeah.
