The money excuse is a crock. You could sell the playoff game naming rights for exponentially more money than the system now because these are bowl games that MEAN SOMETHING FOR EVERY TEAM! Every game would be crazy TV ratings so TV stations will pay huge amounts to broadcast them because they can charge Superbowl money for advertising time. The playoff would generate MORE money for everyone involved and the teams that make it. For the teams that don't, you need to play better, we don't need to be rewarding a 6-6 or 7-5 team with a bowl just because they are bowl eligible, that is just asinine.

What we need is ties, no playoffs, old bowl names without corporation names, and just enjoying the games instead of trying to bet the house on whether the head coach will pick his nose with his index finger or his pinky finger. Money ruins everything. Betting ruins it better.

/And some money for the players who end up crippled for life trying to make money for the boosters.

There is an EASY fix for getting rid of the BCS...

Don't watch. If your team is in one of the games, then okay. Watch that game and that game only. If ratings go down the crapper the advertisers get mad, won't pay as much the following year, etc... that's the ONE thing that will get the job done. The SEC and Big 10 won't ever buy into a playoff because they fear the upset.

/hasn't watched a BCS game yet
// won't until its a playoff

This thing is great. I just got BC and Illinois playing for the national championship. Barrel of laughs.

Seriously, though, that's the one thing that's NICE about the playoffs, is that it's technically possible, just like it's possible for the Giants to win the Super Bowl (assuming they get to the playoffs, obviously.) Possible, just not likely.

OK, sorry, but I just gotta put this out there.

Yeah, some people are getting 74% vs 26% where the underdog advances. Those are just the odds of that team winning. Click on the names to see what the actual predicted score was. All it means is that 26 out of 100 times the underdog will outscore the other team. By this metric, literally anything is possible. I've got a bracket where WVU wins it all as my desktop right now...
