Gosh, that Mrs. Drew sounded so nice on NPR-I for one will be sorry to see her go. Oh, and i wish, if I ever become a schlumpy middle-aged bedroom community detective I'd get lucky with a string of decent-looking mid-20's gatorbait

If she ran away with another man, like he continues to claim she called and said to him, why does he need a legal defense fund?

Because he knows she's dead, that's why.

Drew Peterson went into his cell and met Bubba for the first time.

Bubba: you seem like a nice guy, tell you what, since we're going to be together for a long time, I'll let you decide whether you want to be the husband or the wife.

Drew: uhhhhhhh, I guess I'll be the husband.

Bubba: Good. Now get over here and suck your wife's dick.

Ummm... what? Every person suspected of a crime is not guilty, but should they be charged they have to defend themselves to defend their innocence.

That being said, most people suspected of a crime don't act the way this guy does... pompous and seemingly unconcerned as to his wife's whereabouts.

How awkward would it be if Stacy Peterson popped up, alive and well with Enrico the pool boy tomorrow? That would be a great story.

"For the cost of a few cups of your morning coffee, you can help to ensure that Drew can afford to support his ongoing legal defense, find his missing wife, and divert any remaining funds into a trust for his children," the site says.

Do we also get personal pictures and letters to find out how our "adopt-an-alleged-murdererer" person is progressing?

Cops may not technically make that much money, but corrupt cops can make a shiatload...

1. Last time I checked you were innocent until proven guilty in America.
2. Everyone on the Innertubes was claiming the parents of Madeleine were guilty, too, and yet recently the police were planning on dropping them as suspects as other evidence came to light.
3. The ability to convict people of murder without a body is itself a heinous crime against justice. If you can't prove someone is dead, then no crime has been committed.

Most people do deserve their day in court. However...when you remarry because your 3rd wife died under very suspicious circumstances, and now the 4th is missing, and you're a serial-abuser anyway...well...lets just say I'm not jumping to proudly proclaim his presumed innocence anytime soon.

Bullcrap. Overwhelming circumstantial evidence is proof beyond a reasonably doubt in many cases.

Yeah, well scumbag or not, he's entitled to have the government prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he is guilty of the crime charged.

I know that's pre-9/11 thinking, but oh well.

You are. In a court of law. The general population can think and say whatever it wants. Courtrooms are where actual innocence and guilt are decided.

You can't stop humans from forming opinions. If you could, we'd never fight or disagree about anything.

See, I care less about his innocence and more about the fact that he's a smug asshole. Which in turn convinces a lot of people that he IS guilty, because if you were inncoent and afraid your wife was dead, you wouldn't be acting like a smug jerkoff. If your previous wife was exhumed and her autopsy declared her a murder victim, any normal person would not continue to act like a smug jerkoff. They'd be wondering who killed her or at least demanding more answers.

So if he's not guilty, then he's mentally farked up, or both, and even separately, those two things are dangerous. Have you read some of the interviews with this guy? He's no peach, guilty or innocent. Even if Stacey came waltzing out of the cabana with a pretty suntan and a drink with an umbrella, I wouldn't let this guy within ten feet of any woman I cared about.
