cool - You folks got it going on as far as I can judge. i was little aprehensive about meeting all my girlfriend's family when we first visited them as I don't speak a word of Finnish and her family was so huge, but they were awesome. I must have met every single Puuka in Finland! Me and her cousin Ari got ass-faced drunk and went skating on a lake near Forsaa. then helped him him cut a hole in the ice so we could jump in after the sauna. Hopefully some day we can move out there. Hate to say it, but the student that did this probably was watching way too much tv for his own good.

I'm not really from finland but I guess I'd blow myself up as well if I knew that 6 months of 24/7 darkness and temperatures of -20�C awaited me. I live in southern sweden and even that is enough to get me really depressed from october to febuary every year.

Gloomcookie: In today's climate it is easy to think that way. But the good ole USA is still the best thing going. I almost did a few months ago. Ended up turning down a damn good job in Moscow.

Hint: spend at least a month anywhere you consider before making the move. Come back for a month. I think you will change your mind.

Oh well, I guess these things happen. As nice a place Finland is we have a lot of suicidal people (the cultural heritage and darkness propably the biggest reasons for that) and sometimes suiciders want to take others with them. What really makes this different is that this time the guy targeted random people and with a bomb. Usually it's a shotgun and the suiciders family, so there are maximum of 4 victims usually.

Oh and the student apparently got the bomb instructions from a finnish message board. So we're gonna get headlines screaming about "internet bomb" soon. Wonder if there are "library bombs" or even possibly "chemistry class bombs"...

Most resent news: Almost every single finnish irc channel is full of links to that one chemistry board. Rumour is that the bomber was one of the regulars and people are now digging up every message he posted. Apparently the guy was also a regular on irc.

This is kinda weird. Propably will be more so, as these circles in finland are relatively small, so a lot of people will peopably know somebody who knew him etc.

Oh and people also have dug up a name even though the police hasn't released it.
