I was there. Helped deliver pizza from Fans4writers.com.

As we arrived and walked through the crowd an old guy asked me "Pizza? Can I have some?" Since he was marching and had a sign I said yes so he followed us to where we put up our table and opened the pizza boxes. He was a nice guy and we chatted for a while. It was only later that I heard him being interviewed and say "...when I wrote 'City On The Edge Of Forever..." that I thought "Holy crap! I'm no Trek fan but even I've heard of that episode!" Harlan Ellison.

Saw Wil arrive. We were right at the end by the bus stop and he was there for a while talking to people before joining the main crowd. Sorry Wil, we'd run out of pizza and were waiting for more.

Crappy picture of the interview. I took this as soon as I realised he was famous. Got back to my hotel and checked imdb and realised how much he's done. This interview was for UnitedHollywood.com so may be on there. Don't know if the got Wil as well.

He's wearing a Babylon 5 sweater, too.

FTFA: I grew up watching Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, and as a little kid I distinctly remember

I hate when teenagers and twenty-somethings write about 'when I was a kid' etc etc

I wonder if he is getting any money for the newest Trek abortion movie?

Good job Mr. Crusher!

Now, back to work: table 4 needs more iced tea!

Hopefully he doesn't have to deal with any strike breakers....Especially the kind they had back in the 30's. They can't bust heads like they used to but they have their ways.

2007-12-10 10:32:53 PM
Wow. Harlan Ellison can't even afford his own pizza anymore? Maybe he should ask Wil if that restaurant needs any more servers.

To be fair Harlan wasn't the only one. While we were putting the table up there was already a crowd hovering like vultures and ten large pizzas went in about three minutes.
Picketing is hard work, especialy for people used to sitting down while working!

Wil rocks.

In Harlan's defense, who wouldn't act that way around free pizza?

I'm gonna head up to the front gate of Paramount Studios tonight and take a big, steaming shiat on the sidewalk. Hope you enjoy marching around in that tomorrow morning, comrades.

There's a t-shirt to buy - the Star Trek don't phase me bro.

Why so bitter, CaptainFatass? Did Harlan grab the last slice of pizza before you could get any? Judging by your screenname, maybe he was doing you a favor.

I'm just kidding; I fully support the WGA, and have stated so on numerous occasions here if you want to check up on it. I just think it's funny to ponder what sort of decisions one would have to make if one encountered a steaming turd at one's picket site; do you try to ignore the smell and picket all day anyway, or call it a wrap for that day? If it's to be removed, who gets that task?

CaptainFatass, you have waaay too much time on your hands to have these sort of thoughts.

I think there is a small section of CaptainFatass's brain that functions only to ponder what any given situation would be like plus one turd.

I'm not sure if this is a disease or a gift.

Just when I thought I couldn't possibly laugh at another "don't tase me, bro" variation, along comes subby.

This strike has to be kind of reassuring if you're a Wheatonesque out of work actor, you're no less employed than anyone else in your field.

"Mr. DeNiro and myself are hoping for a quick resolution to this strike so we can get back to what we love doing most - the the art, and craft, of acting."

I was coming here to say something similar. When was the last time Wheaton had a full time gig? I suppose if you can survive and pay your TotalFark bill using residuals from childhood acting - good for you, but let's not kid ourselves... It's not like he's A-list or anything.

I think voicing a character on the Legion of Super Heroes cartoon counts as an acting gig. At least voice acting.
