...security screeners found a loaded .32-caliber handgun at the bottom of her bag, along with a pocket knife and a pair of scissors.

She could have really hurt someone with that pair of scissors.

But now she's been arrested for a crime that could land her in jail for a while.

Too bad she's just an average person and not a judge.

It was an 88 magnum. It shoots through schools.

2007-12-10 06:21:57 PM
Can't they just cane her and let it go at that?

If you can "forget" you're carrying a gun, you should not be allowed to own one.

Exactly... idiot judges get off scott-free with not even a slap on the wrist... But, OHHH, an old lady. Well, throw thew book at her.

this is bullshiat, people should be able to carry concealed weapons in disney, what happens if someone comes in and decides to shoot everyone there.. it is the perfect place to commit acts of terrorism. And now the terrorists are well aware of this fact that if they decide to do this, the chances of them getting shot at in return are very low. Good going media.. good going america.

It is legal to carry a handgun into Disneyworld, as far as I know. They do bag checks and will eject you if they discover you are armed.

THIS:

Richardson doesn't have a permit to carry the gun

is the problem.

What good does carrying a gun for protection do if you forget it's in your purse?

2007-12-10 06:30:19 PM
I have long ago given up on being aniti-gun. People want to own guns and I understand that. Guns look like fun and I am sure there are plenty of people that enjoy/ need them.

But, I have a hard time with all the bullshiat about "safe gun ownership" when some of these people can't even remember where their guns are.

If you do not know where your gun is it is both useless as "protection" as well as dangerous to the rest of the population.

Call me crazy but knowing where your gun is at all times might just be a factor in allowing you the right to have one. (I know, she was not registered etc..)

Also, don't give me too much crap about "training". We have had several threads about Police Officers accidentally shooting themselves or others family members. If the cops aren't properly trained, who is?

2007-12-10 06:30:42 PM
Too bad she's not a judge, then this would all be OK.

2007-12-10 06:32:44 PM
I suspect that, if she was threatened, she'd remember pretty-fast where that gun was.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but that's a spurious argument. A large majority of LEO's do not train with their weapons more than the once or twice per year that's required to qualify on them.

That said, I agree with your statement about your gun being useless and possibly dangerous if you forget it's on your person.

My mother brought a gun to Disney World once. ONCE.

Unregistered, concealed weapon? If I didn't see the pictures, I would have guessed a gang fight scheduled to happen on splash mountain. But no... just someone slowly going senile.

Would get my moneys worth if the gang fight occured...

Dude, you'd be astonished at what Disney has. The place is literally run like its own self-contained country. It even has its very own branch office for the FBI.

They even print their own currency.

I guess. I admit I know little on the subject. I just wonder how anyone who feels they have a right to carry a deadly weapon could "forget" where it is.

I imagine her grandkids looking for candy in her purse might just remember where it is for her.

Put her in jail. Anyone so stupid that they claim they forgot the gun was in their purse should NOT be walking around free. No carry permit, so anyway you look at it she should be locked up.

Granmother or not.

boohooohoooo my arse.

That's right. If she wants to carry around a gun without a permit, she should move to a country with a constitution that guarantees the right to keep and bear arms.

She's from Nicholson? No wonder she forgot that she had it. Most people from that area don't leave the house with anything smaller than a shotgun.

Surely you can troll better than that. People need to understand that she wasn't arrested for carrying a gun into Disneyworld. I agree that the Constitution is all the permit I should need, but the reality is that most states still require a carry permit and Florida is one of them.

Bahahaha, imagine being one of those unfortunate people who didn't quite match the previous weight requirements and ended up sinking/getting the boat stuck half way through... damn right they'd need a gun... for those dolls with the souless eyes... the horror...
