That's just begging for a FAIL thread.

2007-12-04 12:58:55 PM
Silly British. That's the second floor.

2007-12-04 01:01:11 PM
3...2...1... (waiting for new and improved FAIL pics)

Damn Volvo drivers.

I found the bouncing arrow to be very helpful in understanding how the fark something like this could happen.

Looks like the negotiation fell apart. Badly.

2007-12-04 01:08:14 PM
WTF? Was Billy driving that thing?

Pocket Ninja: I found the bouncing arrow to be very helpful in understanding how the fark something like this could happen.

Yeah, it is just amazing how a car could get that high on the SECOND bounce.

2007-12-04 01:15:22 PM
Well, I guess it was the "first" bounce, but, just getting that high after coming down already. Still seems improbable.

/tires made of flubber?

They must not have seen timujin's proper driving graphic.

Er, I think "dumbass" is a bit strong, subby. From the looks of it, he hit the island at full speed without touching the brakes, with his son in the car, which is unlikely without another reason. Plus, if he went backwards into the building and his son only had minor injuries, how did that impact kill him? The car is relatively intact.

I think he probably had a heart attack or massive stroke or brain aneurysm and was dead before the accident started. Very sad.

I agree. And the friend that made one of the first three comments on the site will either prevent a lot of trolling or he will have really compounded the issue. Depends on the level of asshat that goes to the site.

Well I think that puts a chink in the safest cars on the road theory. I don't see any pintos ending up on the floor above the ground floor.

2007-12-04 02:00:00 PM
that's one of those awesome things that i used to do with hotwheels cars when i was a kid but didn't know you could actually make a car do in real life... thanks for the physics lesson.

I love this comment:

Having been privileged enough to have known John Gordon personally I am compelled to write this to all the vultures who have found it necessary to cast their aspersions on this devestating event.

John was an honest, caring man who was an extremely proud father. His son was the most important thing in this world to him and he would have done anything to have ensured his safety and well-being.

Unfortunately, John is no longer here to defend his name and I cannot understand why people feel the need to fabricate stories when they do not know the facts and blacken this poor man's name.

This was a devestating shock to all of his family and friends as he was respected and loved by many. Please can all this speculation please stop now and can people have more respect for the grief-stricken family.

- Friend, Peterborough

Silly, Brit. No respect for you.

Kyosuke: Silly British. That's the second floor.

They count from the top down.

2007-12-04 03:49:06 PM
That is massively crazy. People at work behind me were shocked.

2007-12-04 04:27:50 PM
now that's the way to deliver a pizza on time

2007-12-04 04:37:45 PM
Is he stupid?

2007-12-04 04:38:38 PM
I can't believe nobody's said it yet:

"Look, kids! Big Ben! Houses of Parliament!"

2007-12-04 04:38:45 PM
Was stupid, sorry, was.

2007-12-04 04:41:44 PM
Man, I was laughing at the story until I got to the part about him dying, and his son who was in the passenger seat who lived.

The dude really should have made this particular trip by himself so I could have had a guilt-free laugh at his expense.

What a douche.

/not being serious after the first paragraph

2007-12-04 04:41:46 PM
Volvo, we build the world's safest cars for the world's dumbest drivers.

Would have been a great ad shot if the driver had lived!

I think I did that on GTA:Vice City once.

This wouldn't have happened if the British government didn't make their citizens drive on the wrong side of the road.

2007-12-04 04:43:12 PM
That car up there reminds me of Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, for some reason.

2007-12-04 04:43:21 PM
I know it's been done to death, but anybody with half a brain can get through a rotary/roundabout/traffic circle.

2007-12-04 04:43:21 PM
Sweet. Where can I get one of these "Death-crash cars"??

2007-12-04 04:43:37 PM
I'll be the round about
I'll let you in but never out
You'll spend the day my way......
Call it morning driving thru all around and
In and out the circle......

2007-12-04 04:43:47 PM
I was a roadie for the band "Yes" and I am getting a kick out of these replies.

2007-12-04 04:43:55 PM
Crashed through the second floor wall? Meh. Here in Florida we tend to go for the roof...

Car crashes through roof - kills man in bed. (pops)

That bloke had to be motoring pretty rapidly. I suspect there would be an humongous difference in the outcome of this travesty had he been going at speed.

Perhaps he was on his way to an emergency at university or hospital in his motor car.

Or really fancied some candy floss.

Kyosuke: Silly British. That's the second floor.

Wrong, we count it like this:

Third floor
Second floor
First floor
Ground floor

Smellvin: This wouldn't have happened if the British government didn't make their citizens drive on the wrong side of the road.

This wouldn't have happened if the British government didn't drive their citizens around.

Increase the nanny state!

Exactly how fast was this guy traveling? I mean, I've owned a Volvo or two and they're insanely heavy cars. Getting one to bounce twice and lodge itself in a building would require tremendous speed, I would think.

2007-12-04 04:45:22 PM
Wow dad, we must have jumped that rail by like 50 yards

2007-12-04 04:45:31 PM
There is no way he was buckled up. That was a Volvo, you can drive those off a cliff and walk away. This is like that one bimbo the somehow flipped her car in the driveway going 5mph.

///one less hyper bad driver off my road
////drives for a living, hate you morons in my way driving poorly

The answer is traffic lights.

Kyosuke Silly British. That's the second floor.

Umm.. might be missing an obvious in-joke/movie quote here but surely the floor on the ground of the building is the ground floor and the one above is the first floor - anywhere in the world.

2007-12-04 04:47:33 PM
And y'all say Americans are bad with roundabouts. pfft!

2007-12-04 04:47:34 PM
Is the guy? Is the bear?

But seriously, that's pretty amazing. Would have been better if jumped out and yelled, "TA DA!"

2007-12-04 04:47:36 PM
Who knew Volvo would be the first company to put out a flying car?

2007-12-04 04:47:41 PM

From TFA: "Emergency crews spent half an hour cutting free Mr Gordon, 31, but he later died from his injuries."

I don't know, I've always called the ground floor the first floor. Interesting.
