Well, the punishment might be a bit extreme, but throwing pointed objects across the room can actually injure someone. You also have to wonder about his impulse control if he's throwing crayons at age 14. He probably needs the help.

2007-11-30 12:29:09 PM
It's just another plot by the man to keep the coloring people down.

2007-11-30 12:36:57 PM
What can you do. If a student throws something at me, and I defend myself, I go to jail.

The kid is 14, and knows better. Fark him.

aniktwo: He probably needs the help.

I'd say that a couple of weeks detention, or a couple of weeks scraping gum off the bottoms of desks for the janitors would be a much better punishment than this.

This mainly just punishes his parents.

Why did a 14 year old honors student have a crayon?

Oh...Florida.

Nevermind.

We would like to apologize to the Crayola company for our inference in yesterday's strip. We realize that they have not made the "flesh" color since 1963.

But they have "Indian Red." Do you suppose they have "Negro Brown"-OW!

Sounds like half the students in my MBA program.

Beautiful.

Subby: Student was in some private academy and not in "college prep" There is no indication student was college bound, and now it seems the snowflake is bound for places other than college. A 14 year old should well know that throwing anything in class is a big no-no.

2007-11-30 03:07:50 PM
I wonder what color the crayon was.

Sweet182: I wonder what color the crayon was.

Crayola's newest color:

2007-11-30 03:11:14 PM
Well, he could have jammed it up some other kid's nose.

2007-11-30 03:11:35 PM
Well, this story needs some context. Sure, a 14-year-old should know not to throw things, but teacher should know the difference between a playful toss and full-on assault. Do we know this wasn't something playful? Maybe even the student was tossing the crayon to someone else to catch, and it happened to hit the teacher?

They called the cops for this? WTF?

2007-11-30 03:12:33 PM
bah, it's a freaking crayon... not like he was throwing knives... or baseballs... a crayon people.

2007-11-30 03:12:35 PM
Anyone notice that when a student does something dumb, stupid, dangerous or illegal he's always an "honor" student?

Taewon.

There's your context.

The sooner we get criminals like this out of the classroom and onto the streets, the better.

From TFA: "...even attends college preparatory classes on Saturdays."

No Florida tag?

For shame, subby.

And when someone dies they were a model citizen who would do anything for anyone. No mention of their 7 DUI's, 4 convictions for beating his ex-wife, or the fact that he owed 75k in back child support.

2007-11-30 03:17:20 PM
I think people need to stop being asshole pussies and start doing their damn jobs.

2007-11-30 03:17:31 PM
Fox news should STFU and DIAF.

Thing is, you throw something at anyone without their consent, it is a battery. Doing it to a teacher is completely wrong.

Think about it: you're standing up in front of a class, teaching, and WHAM, a farkin' crayon hits you right in your farkin' head. Now, are you going to be so supportive of little snowflake (or ebonyflake, for the PC)?

2007-11-30 03:17:39 PM
STOP making farking excuses for bad behavior, Mom. You are not helping your kid.

2007-11-30 03:17:41 PM
Teachers can get stressed out.
The kid might be a smart-ass and this was the last straw, and the teacher wigged out!!!

Crayons!!! YARG!!!!

FTFA: Robyn Little said she grounded her son for the act but added that he has never missed a day of school and even attends college preparatory classes on Saturdays.

He wasn't in college prep class, but he goes.

2007-11-30 03:18:28 PM
Yeah yeah, the boy's a dumbass and should know better. I wouldn't even flinch if I read he was expelled. But what the fark is up with this sudden urge to bring police into every situation? Was it really beneficial to society's tax dollars for this boy to get charged?

2007-11-30 03:18:43 PM
While the punishment seems harsh, you have to wonder about a 14 yr old who doesn't have enough impulse control not to throw stuff.

/Just sayin'
//not takin' sides.

2007-11-30 03:19:00 PM
Criminal charges justifiable for throwing a crayon?!? Jeez, everyone in my graduating class would be felons if they were that hardassed in my day...

2007-11-30 03:19:19 PM
Shouldn't the cops only be called if someone was injured? Otherwise, where is the crime?

Make fun of the kid's stupid name, and here comes the mighty DRO to the rescue.

Since the charge was battery he did hit the teacher. 3rd degree? Probably a slap on the wrist.

While I agree that this is asinine I have to ask. Does the Florida tag have Friday afternoon off?

Why would someone taking college classes have crayons?

Because crayons are way fun. But throwing them is incredibly stupid - you unnecessarily damage the points that way.

/Mom would buy us fresh packs when the points wore down because a good crayon point is important
//fresh 96 packs for that matter
///Is currenly 26 and wants to go buy some crayons now
