I wouldn't know. My spelling is impeccable and pretty much always has been, aside from the occasional typo or deliberate misspelling. As far as I can tell, most people have never been able to spell properly, so it's kind of like asking if a turd smells worse today than it did yesterday.

Of course, it doesn't help that we have this non-phonetic written language full of silent letters that make no sense except as historical oddities (the "b" in "debt," for example), letters with more than one sound, and sounds with more than one letter. If someone can come up with a workable solution, I'll be on board. Unfortunately, nobody has so far.
