From the Comments: Hey, it only says she has to get pregnant. Doesn't say anything about having an actual baby. Get knocked up, show them the piss test, get your money, then have it aborted. Repeat every 2-3 months and you're cruising!

Alright, farkers; fess up: Who posted that?

I can remember when "tug at your heart strings" stories like this worked on the Farkers where before long somebody would suggest finding a way to help. Now? The entire comment thread is on getting a 17 year old pregnant and/or how ugly she is/is not. I am beginning to think the average age of Farkers have just dropped over the last few years. Or at least of the posting Farkers.

She makes £150 a week?? That's over $300! I wish I'd made that kind of money when I was in high school.. shiat, I wish I'd made that kind of money while I was putting myself through college!

A solution that would fit well in the cyberpunk/brave-new-world we seem to be coming to would be for her to become a surrogate mother. A pregnancy allright, as required by the social services, a sterile couple happy to get a child of their own, and a nice £15k to £100k check depending how she manages to advertise the biological virtues of her brand new 17yo healthy uterus for rent.

/1st class smoker lounge, thank you.

Something similar happened to me. My father I haven't seen since I was 10. When I was 16, I lived with another family paying them board as my mother was placed in a mental institution.

I was given an emergency allowance by the government to supplement my paper round. When I applied to continue the funding so I could do my final year of school, they informed me I would have to
A) be placed in Foster Care with a family in a another city and leave my current school and have no independent income.
b) Quit school and become unemployed and be paid twice what I currently was, (Or of course, get a job, whatever job a school dropout could get and be paid for aged 16).

I wasn't allowed to simply continue to live with the good family who took me in, and continue going to school.

Eventually I went to university a year earlier after meeting a professor and pleading a case, however my studies and living costs had to be funded by a loan from the government at 8%.

They would give me the money for doing nothing, if I just became unemployed instead.

I completely sympathise with this poor woman.

Oh please. They do pretty the same thing in the States. Young adult, no kids, trying to go to college = no aid.

But man, go on drugs, get knocked up, and you farking set for life. But you can't get help - even from most non-profits - unless you want to bring a kid into your poverty-stricken nightmare.

camaroash: Based one the pic, that's just a nice way of saying "You're shiat outta luck."

Is this where we cue up the "pointy knees" guy?

I mean, really, she's not a supermodel, but I don't see anything fundamentally unhittable about her, either.

That said, what kind of farked up society would make an apparently decent, motivated student drop out of school just because her parents were dead? That's farked up. I hope she manages to get it worked out.

If your parents die then you can't go to school anymore in the UK? Is it a private school? If so, what's wrong with the government schools or do they also only take kids with parents?

I'd hit it without the beer goggles.

You cannot get pregnant doing A-levels

/apparently obscure enough that nobody else has said it already
