Subby you're a genius! The first to recognize that Islamic fundamentalism movement is contained within the borders of one nation. Too bad you weren't in charge on 9-11 then we could have left Afghanistan alone and gone after the Saudis.

Come to think of it, since Timmy McVeigh was an American, we should have attacked ourselves after the OKC bombing.

Yup. Don't forget those pesky Aryan Nation guys. They do, after all, represent the entire country.

Why not invade someplace a little close next time, like Cuba ?

At least it'd be cheaper.

...so when it's pointed out to the Bush-bots that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, they retort that Hussein once gave money to the family of the dentist of one of the terrorists but when it's pointed out that it was almost all Saudis who perpetrated 9/11 and now that almost half of the terrorists in Iraq are Saudi, well they don't represent the Saudi people. I don't understand, so here's a [picture of a hot make out session.

Replace the word "Afghanistan" with "Iraq" and I don't see a problem here.

...Of course, he's not the first. I mean, r-u-n-n o-f-t still thinks all the terrorists are in Iraq and Iran...

What a day this has been
What a rare mood Im in
Why, its almost like being in love

Theres a smile on my face
For the whole human race
Why, its almost like being in love

All the music of life seems to be
Like a bell that is ringing for me
And from the way that I feel
When that bell starts to peal
I would swear I was falling
I could swear I was falling
Its almost like being in love

That's actually the logic they're using to build up support for an attack on Iran.

Nope. No one. Not even Poppy Bush.

Because real numbers don't actually run that high.

Ah, the Ann Coulter/Dennis Miller argument that at least we're attacking someone in that part of the world. Details are too hard for conservatives.

Well, it's a good thing that all the insurgents in Iraq were listed on that one "Rolodex". I makes me feel better that Iranian weapons that have been killing our troops (especially EFPs) and Iranians we catch during raids don't really exist because they weren't part of this single data point.

2007-11-23 12:05:53 PM
A lot of the foreign insurgents are Saudis with a few Syrians mixed in (Sunnis) and almost all of the suicide bombers are Saudis. They want to stop the Shia majority from coming to power in Iraq and keep the position they held under Saddam. The weak central government and the ethnic cleansing hopefully means they'll be content with informally ruling the regions they control. That's generally true for the local Sunni leaders and they are easing up a lot on the fighting. The Sunni want us out because they want free reign to continue opposing a stronger Iraqi government. We support Saudi Arabia's leadership because of financial and political ties even though we're a really odd fit for allies.

The Iranians support the Shia majority (which we generally support) but we don't like Iran. We've nearly turned Iran's biggest enemy into what could be their biggest ally if the Shia hold power. The Shia (backed a little by Iran) want us out so they can exercise that new power and establish their dominance in the region.

Iraq is going to either have to settle for a certain amount of Saudi/Syrian-supported Sunni terrorism while having a weak central government or embrace Iran and let the Shia flex their muscles with a very strong federal system.

I remember Ron Paul saying something like this on Fox News after one of the Republican debates. After which, Sean Hannity went into full "LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!! Now I'm going to talk over you and interrupt you," mode. I hope someone can find a clip of that.

The US suffers from spousal abuse syndrome in this relationship. As long as our sugar daddy keeps us suckling at the petroleum teat, we'll take whatever abuse we're given. It's sickening.

Good idea, but we've already invaded Cuba twice. I vote we try Jamaica next time.

Forget kissing foreign dignataries on the lips, unless they are really hot women. If I were President, I'd be tempted to give up even shaking hands, and start bowing like the Japanese.

And apparently I can't spell "dignitaries" either.

FOREIGN, subby! Nearly half the FOREIGN insurgents! i.e. about 4-5% of the total number of insurgents. The difference is kind of significant.

Reminds me of the famous grafitti on the Berlin Wall showing Honecker kissing Brezhnev. The Germans thought that was pretty funny.

Wait so Bush is Honecker and Fahd is Brezhnev? Cue Reagan saying "Mr. Fahd, tear down the wall" or something.

The Saudis have a history of allowing religious malcontents to go fight wars in other countries. They emptied the prisons and sent them to Afghanistan to fight the Russians.
