If you are driving around with 39 pounds of cocaine in your minivan you probably should expect to hear "Can I get a ride to and from soccer practice with Ms. Sanchez?" every fifteen minutes.

During the stop, the trooper was given consent to search the van.

Well, there's your problem.

On a local highway we have white trash getting popped on a regular basis as they bring bundles of heroin from Newark to their rural homes. Idiots just can't wait to get junked up, shoot a bag and try to drive. Brilliant!

For some reason I feel like the headline would benefit if it ended with ese.

And in other news, you can drive from Arizona to Nebraska without license plates.

And they probably started out with 40 pounds...

I've seen a bunch of cars on the interstate without license plates, I always wonder how far they make it before getting pulled over.

Someone who would make a living out of breaking the law probably isn't the sharpest tool in the shed to begin with.

There was that place in Georgia I think where they catch a farkload of trafficers every year. They're able to pinpoint them while they are driving on the interstate, coming from Florida. That's because they always have out of state plates and drive waayyy over the speed limit, plus they usually have a light or two out. They use K-9's a lot to warrant the search.

best advice i've ever heard came from my friend jeff. i'm not sure if he heard it somewhere before or if it was his own.

"only do one illegal thing at a time".

driving around with 39lbs of coke = 1.
driving around without license plates = 1.

1+1=2

jeff is smart. this guy, not so much.

2007-11-20 09:16:12 PM
I don't do drugs. If I had 39 pounds of any illegal drug in my vehicle, I would probably be the poster boy for safest driver on the road. Before everyone hates on me, legalize pot because it is less dangerous than alcohol.
How could you even start the damn engine with that kind of cargo without plates?

Meh...Amateurs.

/"We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon."

2007-11-20 09:57:05 PM
Wasn't there a case a few weeks ago where the cops had an informant remove the plates from a drug courier's car so they would have a pretext to pull the vehicle over and search it.

/first thing I thought of

fta...During the stop, the trooper was given consent to search the van.

that was their second mistake

2007-11-20 10:25:03 PM
On my first ride-along with the local PD, we pulled over a vehicle for no front plate, she was driving under suspension (her 6th). She would have made it home if she had mounted her front plate instead of sticking it in the window.

On my second, another officer pulled over a guy for speeding, he had a warrant for his arrest, and the car reeked of marijuana.

Didn't Tim McVeigh find out the hard way that you should have license plates on your getaway car?

2007-11-20 10:46:18 PM
Naw, you see. They'll be expecting license plates. What you gotta do is throw them off, don't have any plates. This guy just got unlucky.

2007-11-20 10:55:17 PM
39 pounds. That's what, $219,091,197,109 dollars of coke right?

yay , another crime perpetrated by what are no doubt illegal aliens.

2007-11-20 11:24:11 PM
1 kilo goes from 15k-35k

so anywhere from $300k to a little over $500k

Who is running that operation?

2007-11-20 11:45:04 PM
Evidently someone thinks it's better to drive around with the cocaine than to get license plates on their car.

2007-11-21 12:26:40 AM
A minivan is about the most unobtrusive vehicle on the highway, stick some plates on it, make sure the lights all work and you may as well be invisible.
I like flashy cars too, but it's nice to get where you're goin, no muss , no fuss, no attention from der polizei.
Luckily, my days of HP big blocks, open headers and tires sticking out the fenders on the highway are long over.
That's what they make dragstrips for.
/stupid coke heads anyway...

Is it just me, or is everyone in southern california missing their license plates? Have any of my fellow socal farkers noticed this? Is there some ring going around that is jacking plates? Are people trying to out-run those redlight cameras? What gives

2007-11-21 08:44:04 AM
$312,000 not $750,000 to $1,000,000

2007-11-21 10:07:51 AM
THey're claiming he didn't have plates. Maybe he did?

It's not like the arrestee gets to say anything.

And I wonder if there aren't a few kilos "missing" off the stack...
