Ya, if you wanna claim that being called a pussy and not being trusted by women again afteward is an advantage.

"I could be practicing my viola or riding my bike," said Traci Laichter, 14, of Henderson, Nev., reciting her parents' efforts to wean her from her four hours of IMing per day

Four hours a night? And they are trying to wean her?... Grow some cajones people... TAKE AWAY THE PHONE.

2007-11-15 04:44:52 PM
I may be over the hill, but I just can't see the point of spending two minutes typing something with one's thumbs, usually with poor grammar, when a ten second phone conversation could convey the same information.

Now pull them pants up, put on a belt and get off of my lawn!

Whenever I go to meet the underage girls that I chat with online I always bring along 8x10 photos of Mr. Hansen to get autographed, along with pamphlets and newsletters on the dangers of intergenerational sex to give to the girls. I still haven't met Mr. Hansen, but I think that I've helped a lot of the girls with the information that I've provided to them.

Janice, I apologize to you if I don't seem real eager to jump into a forced awkward intimate situation that people like to call dating. I don't like the feeling. You're sitting there, you're wondering do I have food on my face, am I eating, am I talking too much, are they talking enough, am I interested I'm not really interested, should I play like I'm interested but I'm not that interested but I think she might be interested but do I want to be interested but now she's not interested? So all of the sudden I'm getting, I'm starting to get interested... And when am I supposed to kiss her? Do I have to wait for the door cause then it's awkward, it's like well goodnight. Do you do like that ass-out hug? Where you like, you hug each other like this and your ass sticks out cause you're trying not to get too close or do you just go right in and kiss them on the lips or don't kiss them at all? It's very difficult trying to read the situation. And all the while you're just really wondering are we gonna get hopped up enough to make some bad decisions? Perhaps play a little game called "just the tip". Just for a second, just to see how it feels. Or, ouch, ouch you're on my hair.

As a hearing impaired person, text messaging has been a god-send. However, I do make a point to always use correct spelling and grammar.

I just have AIM installed on my pocket PC but the article isn't talking about phones instant messaging. Also most teens are too lazy to do the bulk of their IMing from their phone. They just generally send a few (thousand) texts here and there throughout the month. But the majority of IMing is still done very consistantly on the computer. (Why IM people from the phone when your at home on your PC or gayMacpod anyway.) (I on the otherhand have to IM on my pocketpc from the bar.)

I have found instant messaging helps adults avoid the embarrassment of having sex, like in person.

I didn't actually RTFA, so touche.

I just want to say that I'm happy I grew up in a time when the internet was becoming extremely accessible and instant messaging was/is popular amongst my friends, but we were not raised on it, so we still type using real words and sentences.

You can order groceries VIA the web, pizza, and pretty much anything else your heart desires.... + you can telecommute.

I see a future where a percentage of the population never leaves the house and nobody notices for weeks until the landlord stops by to investigate and odor of decomposing flesh slumped over a keyboard.

I'M ANGRY BECAUSE THE WORLD IS DIFFERENT NOW!
Kids today should do things exactly the way we did them when I was young.
I have the preconceived notion that kids today have no gumption, because I never bother to pay attention to what they are doing.
I accuse kids of being delinquents, despite the fact that I, and my peers, did similar things when I was young.
