FTFA: So, after holding onto it for a few days, they decided to put it up for auction on eBay.

The starting bid was $35. when the auction ended just before midnight last night, the winning bid was $338.

it's things like this that have led me to believe that there should be an IQ test before you're allowed to breed. or vote. It's bad enough that the mom and daughter have no common sense, but idiots actually bet on this shiat. Un-farking-believable.

This. I used to live with a guy who was studying neurology. He showed me how to find my blind spot and I had a big WTF moment when I first tried it. I asked him why that phenomenom wasn't obvious to everybody as a big hole in everybody's vision. Apperently the brain fills in the blanks.

Ditto for when we smashed a mirror and glued the shards to the wall. You could still brush your hair in it, your brain just puts the picture back together for you.

Off topic: I can not see any imageshack pics. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I can always get the photobucket ones.

I have exactly the opposite problem. I see all imageshack, but no photobucket pictures. In my case, it has to do with the whitelist my company uses. Could you behind such a filter?

For anyone interested here's how you find your blind spot. Also explains why people 'see' wacky stuff like this, their brain is making stuff up.

Draw two dots an inch apart on some paper. Cover your right eye and look at the dot on the right. Move the paper back and forth until the dot on the left magically disappears. Weird, huh?

For those talking about blind spots, I can vouch for you (not that I need to), I stumbled across a page just the other day, white screen with two dots, and some text, the text saying 'look directly at the dot on the left and the dot on the right will disappear (you many need to lean forward or back a bit but it will happen) and sure enough, it did.

And yes, the human brain fills in the blanks with what it knows, and it also creates relationships where there are none in reality. Kind of like how in just about any situation, if you think something is the cause of something else, then you bias yourself because your mind tells you you're right and to disregard anything else; basically like a placebo effect.

Exactly. We're humans. We like patterns. Patterns sooth us and give us a sense of order all around us.

BTW, didn't everybody learn about the blindspot in the eye in elementary biology? It was a fun trick back then, but of course science sucks the fun out of everything and replaces it with cold hard logic and facts.

Optic nerve passes through the back of the retina, and since there can't be any photoreceptors where something through, you get a spot with no capacity to pick up an image. wikipediapoppitypoo
