The thread for the Seven OT game last year

It was right around the day that the Yankees lost to the Diamondbacks.

This time, Yankees lose, Arkansas goes to six overtimes.

Therefore..

Yankees being eliminated from playoffs = Arkansas having insanely long games.

Speaking of College Football, anyone see K-State at Colorado? That would've been the best game of the weekend if not for this game and Texas A&M's loss. A great weekend for college football. Go Buffs!

Yawn why is sports on here but I obviously took the trouble to post anyways.

Or alternatively:

Hurling is the best sport EVAR let's get some more hurling articles up here Drew!!!

I'm not too hip with collage football...so..I'm wondering...how long are collage overtime quarters?

The SEC is all about Georgia. Go Dawgs.

Feh. The Ole Miss-Arkansas game last year was better.

2002-10-06 02:37:31 PM
I enjoyed watching that Ole Miss win over the Gators. Interesting how they deliberately left one second on the clock to get a chance to control the crowd.

College OT is like this.

One team gets on the 20 or 25, they have a shot to score.

The other team tries for this.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat until one team is ahead of the other by the end.

College Football OT is a completely idiotic system. Why not just do it with 10/12 minute quarters where the team with the most points at the end wins?

the college ot system is perfect. Each team has an equal opportunity to score. Time is not a factor.

I love the college OT system.

WPS.

I also like the college OT system, it could, of course, be because the game was won right in front of me, as I had awesome seats. That was an insane game.

Football is still a sport? What the hell?

Overtime? Bahh...
This year's national champions don't need no stinkin' overtime.

If we (Arkansas) had a kicker worth a flip then maybe we could have won. Anyone see the highlights of the 29 yarder he shanked. They finally put in the damn punter to kick one. And he drilled it.

2002-10-06 03:43:26 PM
Oh yeah... Almost forgot

2002-10-06 04:49:33 PM
yeah college over time sucks but the nfl is thinking about doing the same because it gives teams a chance to win instead of on drive down to field goal range so they can kick a ball on 3rd down and win the game

I like college overtime the way it is. That said, this was an interesting weekend for football. Next week will be even better.

2002-10-06 05:28:08 PM
I prefer the college OT, also. The NFL does it the most boring way possible.

This game should have never went to overtime in the first place. Arkansas got one of those phantom touchdowns where the guy's knee hit the ground at the 1, the ball didn't break the plane, and he fumbled the ball. They gave him a touchdown. What bullshiat.

Well, onward to Georgia. The SEC rules.

The Vols will play for the BCS title in early 2003 against Texas. The first ever UT vs. UT game for a National championship. It will occur in Tempe. And for those that are interested....yes the Vols will win convincingly over Miami in Knoxville during their homecoming game, in early November 2002. The 'Canes are not that good!!!! And the Vols are but God knows they didn't show it during the 10 quarters/OT's they played. They escaped...at best against Arkansas. But I wish the Vols the best as a former student there and hope that my prediction is accurate.

2002-10-06 07:22:02 PM
HELL YEAH! Go Big Orange! Look out UGA, Miami, et al....UT has a national championship to win. SEC football is the most exciting in the NCAA...no west coast pansy boys, just speed, strength, and tailgate parties!

2002-10-06 07:31:19 PM
Go Vols!

The Vols are gonna roll over the Dawgs and I will be able to gloat over all my Dawg loving friends here in GA.

What a fantastic game that was last night. That 29 yarder the guy screwed up was crazy!

2002-10-06 07:34:53 PM
That game was crazy, I was there for all 6 OTs and by the end just about everyone was ready for the game to be over. Even the UT kicker was wanting it to be over because he was hungry. heh. Anyways, it was lots of fun. :o)

SEC = Inbred hilljacks.

2002-10-06 09:04:58 PM
The college OT is bullshiat because it's a gimmick. It takes field position out of the game, which can be a big part of football. It's too artificial. It would be like if baseball extra innings each started with the bases loaded.

I think the World League had the best OT. 15 minutes, all rules apply, but you have to win by 6. That gets that stupid field goal bullshiat out of the way.

ok so bama whoops arkansas' chunk of an ass with ease and tennessee needs 6 OTS to win and then mobs the field like they won the farkin' Rose Bowl! The Vols........suck.

Roll Tide.

So far this year it's evident that Miami is head and shoulders above everyone else. Everyone else has lost or has had a scare against a crappy team. It appears Miami's only real test will come in December against Virginia Tech, and Miami has the home field for that game. Expect a repeat title.
