Ridiculous. BC has more types of weed than you can shake a stick at.

The demand isn't going to go down, the quality beats anything we've got, and we only get a fraction of the quantity.

It just means the price is going to go up, if there's a question of "profitability."

2007-11-13 04:35:30 PM
The issue is the same for any Canadian export to the US.

The short term consequence is that the Canadians' sales will slump and the Americans' market share will rise (if their production can meet the increased demand).
The long term consequence is likely that the cost of marijuana in the US will rise, since America is not likely to become self-sufficient in marijuana cultivation.

In the meantime, more for us.

The very idea that it costs C$2000 to produce a pound of weed is ridiculous.

Big ups for another battle won in the War on American Currency Valuation.

2007-11-13 07:10:28 PM
In most of BC it costs about 100 - 200 bucks to produce a lb of indoor. This is taking rent, power, HVAC supplies, Lighting, Ferts, Beans and growing medium into consideration. Second crop is around 75 bucks / lb.

Depending on your circumstances, you can grow weed for the cost of the seeds. Just put them in the ground and wait. You don't need do anything, it's a plant it 'produces' itself.

FTA:

Marijuana is illegal in Canada, but is widely tolerated and rarely prosecuted with the vigor American law enforcement musters. From Quebec to British Columbia, large operations and small have become known for producing premium pot, carefully cloned for the best genetics and then grown under powerful lights, fed carbon dioxide and watered with special nutrient blends in hydroponic gardens.

Oh god, yes.

Yah you are right ;) 750 for first crop. about 100 after that.

Here in KC, it's pretty much either the Mexican Brick for $50 per ounce, or the KBs for $100 per quarter-ounce. They've completely wiped out the middle class around here.

America borrows itself deep into the hole, ratchets up its trade deficits, buries itself beneath subprime mortgage debt, devalues its dollar with interest-rate cuts, and the currency plunges.

...and people ask me why I've been sleeping a lot lately.

Standard BC units? Dont worry the beasters are still available in RI, we have taken to hit

"With all this bud in BC its amazingly hard to find a reliable source.... or so I've heard."

Canadians that consume and sell and grow hi-quality stuff tend to not deal with idiots, because the law, when it comes, comes after the growers and distributors.

These are educated, stable, financially sound and generally responsible people. Not young punks in a flashy car at a KwikEMart selling to 13 year-olds - They are generally not in the HQ reliable source "society".

So yes, "getting a source" is very difficult. But once that has been established it is usually very secure and mutually profitable.

2007-11-13 07:24:55 PM
Uh, "holeinmybucket," the problem is pretty obvious: Everyone who deals in it also smokes it, and you know how goofed-up potheads are.

Don't you?

Here in California we buy our weed at the weed store.

2007-11-13 07:25:42 PM
That was one of the best articles I think I have read in a long time. Most pot we get in the united states is either home grown, or exported from good ol'Mexico. But sad to see a good thing go...

But taking a look at U.S.A. 2007 funny how it looks better living up north. And screw the weed lol a dollar means more on the world stage there...

Well, I'm a legitimate pothead, but I was also an English major. You forgot about us, didn't you? But anyhow, I do concur. I'm used to the standard of pot reporting that is found in High Times, which isn't exactly a benchmark.

/80-90% of potheads give the rest of us a bad name

"Beaster"? Is that what you call the mid-grade shiat? We would always call the stuff that was better than regs, but not as good as kind "cousin of kind", or "cuz" for short.

I see a plausible solution:

Print the Dollar with ink saturated in THC, that way if your currency devalues to zero, you could stick yout money in your pipe and smoke it, and you would be so stoned, you wouldn't care if you were broke.

I got that notion from an Economist who told me once, the value of a bag of "pot" from 1965 to 1985 was more stable overall than that of the Dollar which bought it.

2007-11-13 07:29:03 PM
Doesn't SAD trump SCARY in this instance?

2007-11-13 07:29:06 PM
As a BC resident, I am getting a kick out of these replies.

Seriously, BC bud is diabolically strong, especially compared to the ditchweed they sell in most dispensaries in San Francisco. If only I still smoked...

I think it's strange that all these wonderful plants grow across the planet for human ingestion, and then the 'man' goes and outlaws every single one of them, and only allows alcohol made my man to be sold.

hmm...
