(Some Secret Service Guy)   The list of rules for Jenna Bush's book signing include STFU and don't, repeat DON'T EVEN look at Her Royal Bush-ness. Winning the hearts and mind of the public is an art perfectly practiced by the Bush family   (denver.yourhub.com) divider line 194

Um, I'm jumping on the Subby = Fail bandwagon - there's nothing about not looking at and not talking to her, except the beginning comments from the author

Yep, subby fails.

2007-11-04 09:13:42 PM
Chaotic Neutral: Every book signing I've ever been to, the author was happy to chat with people indefinitely, after all the books were signed. Most even personalized the books as a matter of course.

This is probably a response to hordes of people who will show up just see her and get her signature, but it still reeks of asinine elitism. Do not look at Jenna Bush? wtf?

Capt.Kirk: ...
At least she is trying to use her fame for good. Where is Chelsea Clinton?

In 2001, she graduated with distinction from Stanford; her undergraduate thesis topic was her father's mediation of the 1998 Northern Ireland peace agreement. She went on to earn a Master's degree at University College, Oxford, in international relations.

In 2003, Clinton joined the consulting firm McKinsey & Company in New York City, reportedly earning a low six-figure salary; she was the youngest person hired in her class, hired alongside those holding MBAs.

In the fall of 2006, she left McKinsey and went to work for Avenue Capital, a hedge fund run by Marc Lasry, a loyal donor to Democratic causes generally, and heavy supporter of the Clintons.

She serves on the board of the School of American Ballet.

Easy stuff to find. She works, she does stuff. She graduated from Stanford and has a Master's Degree from Oxford. What have you done lately?

You've got to admit, that's pretty funny.

/do you turn into stone?

Jenna Bush contains a liquid core, which, if exposed due to rupture, should not be touched, inhaled or looked at.

I take back what I said. The article text seems to blow things out of proportion. So fark the author for misleading me and wasting my time on typing up my rant.

I wouldn't want to look at the general public either, considering that 70 percent of them are morons.

I smell a lot of "b-b-b-but CLINTON..." going on in this thread.

Cons are so predictable.

Shouldn't she be out rooting for truffles somewhere?

adiabat: Unshavenhelga: Gosh, this was almost identical to the rules to get a copy of "It Takes a Village" signed.

Nice fail, though.

Well put, and very true. Same deal with Bill's book.

Bill (briefly) talked to me. Secret Service still had a field day, though.

It may sound mean and elitist, but really, it's for your own protection.

Heh ... I sometimes buy copies of favorite books by living authors, mail them to the publisher with a note inside asking "please forward to (author's name)" and a note inside the book asking the author to sign. I usually get back a signed copy.

Then again, I don't buy books by doofuses like Jenna Bush, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, George Bush (Our Children Is Learning), etc.

Ken Lay's not dead, he's hiding in the folds of Jenna Bush's arm flab until the coast is clear.

2007-11-04 09:29:51 PM
The Bush twins are cheap floozies who will amount to very little int he grand scheme of things, and that would be ok, except that the cons made Chelsea a target during the Clinton years.

Unfortunately for the cons, Chelsea actually amounted to something and isn't a drunken tart like Bush's girls.

jackbooty
Last thing I heard about Chelsea Clinton is she was living a peaceful life at a farm in New York. She has her own stable and all the carrots and oats she can eat.

That would've been a good line in 1992, and I'm sure you used it back then. But a quick GIS shows she's grown up and gotten slightly past the awkward teen phase.

2007-11-04 09:31:53 PM

Jeez... I just finished reading today in Texas Monthly that Jenna Bush isn't puking in the bathroom at Chuy's anymore (in an obviously rehabilitative puff-piece).

I kinda felt sorry for the reporter, trying to write an article about how Jenna gives a damn (except about politics, or anything else).

2007-11-04 09:33:39 PM
Chester J. Lampwick - That would've been a good line in 1992, and I'm sure you used it back then. But a quick GIS shows she's grown up and gotten slightly past the awkward teen phase.

This is true... Now she is in th awkward adult phase.

Jeez, not another one. Why does Jenna Bush have a book? In fact, why does everybody have a book these days? Every hack on cable news, every disgraced politician, every Washington insider. Who actually reads this crap?

2007-11-04 09:40:24 PM
Never've really had a problem with the Bush twins. Seems like they're average kids and grew up no worse or better than anyone else.

Same for their politics. Seems like they're more liberal then their father, and probably their mother although she seems to be more sympathetic to social justice (as most women are).

2007-11-04 09:42:03 PM
Has anyone mentioned that Chelsey is well, kinda fat, and umm.. has cankles, and a butterface?

I didnt feel it was appropriate to mention that a few years ago, but since you guys opened the can and all.

2007-11-04 09:42:53 PM
I forgot to mention, Chelsea tickles something down toward my root chakra.

/That's the wanting to have crazy sex chakra.
//Jenna not so much. I went to UT... and it was full of hot (vapid) girls.
///Hot smart girls stimulate every chakra

Apparantly, this is fairly common in the celebrity world.

Wherever Neil Armstrong goes for business - which includes his own museum - employees are not allowed to look or speak to him.

It makes no sense to us thousandaires, but the rich and famous play by a different set of rules. I have no idea whether it's right or wrong, but I definitely know I can't relate.

I think somebody--maybe Karen Hughes maybe?--decided that the Bush clan had better spend some money in making Jenna respectable.

Fortunately, Barbara has always been the go-to girl, she'd probably clearing blueprints for family compou--I mean, ranch in Paraguay.

I had better not go! I might get so "excited" being that close to the Bush bloodline that I would hurl. Last thing I want to do is projectile vomit on the first family! Would I get locked up for chemical attack?
I guess I will just stay home?

Wow. +1 to all you winners who didn't realize the "no talking directly to Jenna Bush, no looking directly at Jenna Bush" line was a poster's comment and not part of the actual rules for the signing.

Why not try the bookstore's page on the matter:

The people who are inclined to buy a book written by Jenna Bush are not the kind of people Jenna Bush wants to talk to. It's not like she's going to write a book about getting drunk.

2007-11-04 09:56:02 PM
I like Carl Bernstein's rules at the booksigning I saw him at "ask me anything, I'll sign anything you want and yes you can have your picture taken with me".
