I'm not sure which is stranger about that picture - the look of "WTF?" on the kids faces or the horribly lazy eye on the mother...

/ what's worse: "You were a mistake" or "we tried to kill you and failed"?
// yeah, def the second one...

wtf at the second picture?

I think that will be "our little secret" for quite a while.

I understand the reason behind it and have no problem with it either but this is what they should do in executions as well.
If the first attempt fails, you live, if we go for #2 and that fails as well you DEFINITELY live.

It saved this kids life (and hopefully not to bad in the growing up healthy dept).

Same thing 2 jolts from "old Sparky" and you are free (happens more often than one wants to think about)

This makes we wonder about the doctors and staff members performing abortions and executions.

I mean, first, why didn't doctors think to just separate the placenta and let it fend for itself in the first place? Is this going to become standard practice in the future if the mother wants to carry both babies to term? Rather than forcing the baby to die this at least seems to give them a tad of a chance.

Second, and completely tangential to the article, how do you screw up an execution anyway? I haven't heard of any execution method other than hanging, shooting, injection or electrocution in my life time ever being carried out in the US. Between snapping a neck, blowing their heart out, filling them with poison or passing amps through their body, I'm a little confused how you can mess it up. That's outside the barbarity of capital punishment itself. I mean, if you're going to be a vengeful eye-for-an-eye asshole, at least have the courtesy to do it right.

It would be kinder to let him die in the womb with his brother by his side than to die alone after being born.

Its never too late to kill him. Surely someone can think of a good reason.

This.

That was a TERRIBLY written article! The second half was a repeat of the first half!

"Hey, this article needs to be longer. How about we just copy and paste the whole article after this one, change a few words around and viola! Longer article!"

That being said, glad the kid hung on. I'd be careful if I were the brother though... there can be only one.

I'm going to jump on the bait here. What these people did, I believe, was a valid medical procedure. I see Gabriel's survival as proof that God had created him to live. However, had he died, I do not think God would have disdained an attempt to save two other precious lives.

This story touches my heart deeply.

For the first 10 years of my life, I thought the small scar on my forehead was a birthmark.

Then mom told me it was probably from the coat-hanger.

Maybe because the mother would bleed too much, and thus it would be dangerous?

once he becomes a teenager, can you imagine the arguments hed have with his mom?

"dont talk to me that way! I'm your mother! I gave birth to you!"

"yeah, after you tried to kill me! TWICE!"

"....hmmmmmm. touche. would you like some bundt cake?"

2007-11-03 10:59:20 AM
Okay, I'm a little confused. It looked like he could die before birth, and that could endanger the other twin. So...they decided to kill him in the womb, and this would somehow save the other twin?

My guess would be because if the one died, the body would go into labor to get rid of the corpse, and it would have been too early for the 2nd twin to survive out of the womb. Just a guess mind.
