I hate sports =)

I haven't even read the article but I know all the calls were probably against the University of Michigan. Bastard Big 10 officiating
2002-10-03 04:12:28 AM
well the nfl officials tried their damnest to keep Carolina in the game in GB.

Called back every GB TD, or at least tried to.

Bad Foot Locker employees.

Damn too late. I forgot this part.

I don't care I hate sports.

Yeah go post in a thread about laptops bringing you beer, Nerd.

That should cover both sides of that argument
2002-10-03 05:43:09 AM Purdue Boilermakers got screwed and they lost to a crappy team....officiating sucked ass. GO BOILERS!!!!
2002-10-03 06:09:25 AM
They're just pissed they lost to Wake farkin' Forest. Oh, no, Purdue! Look out! NIU is standing behind you! Run!

Yeah, the Big 10 is mad because their refs didn't do their job and help deliver a win to a Big 10 team a win against a non-conference opponent. With all the money being thrown around with the BCS, the NCAA needs to start using refs from a third conference in interconference games involving "the big six" conferences. I'm not saying the refs are shady, but sometimes you wonder when close calls go the visiting team's way (since the visitors bring the refs from their conference in games involving teams from different conferences for you Farkers who "hate sports" and just have to pop in and mention that fact in every sports thread).

ANYONE who saw last Sunday's NY Giants-Cards game can think of few more discipline candidates. One of my Giant fanatic buddies literally had to be restrained from physically attacking the ref. Actually, we were worried that he would hurt the TV, because the ref was a 6-inch tall digital image of a guy 3,000 miles away.
2002-10-03 08:33:35 AM
Big 10 refs made mistakes in the UT-Minnesota game that cost the Rockets a win, too. Those mistakes are the kind they get bonuses for though... not discipline :-) Damn Big 10.
2002-10-03 08:44:37 AM
That would probably be of interest if they actually were football officials and not American football officials. No matter how many times you call it football, sticking your fingers in your ears to ignore the fact that the rest of the world knows that it isn't, doesn't make it football.
2002-10-03 09:36:32 AM
Where was the discipline when the officials handed Michigan a win over illinois two years ago?

Then again, I'm a farking Buckeye fan, so i've got a grudge.

Hey soccer fans:

Football in America is football. Not Soccer, not Futbol,
not Footie.

and not that Canadian brand either. Four downs,
100 yards, run to daylight four hoursemen win one for the gipper galloping ghost 3 yards and a cloud of dust FOOTBALL.

I love the smell of pigskin in the afternoon. Smells like ... victory!

2002-10-03 10:35:55 AM
Buckeyes? eww. Go Bobcats :-D (I can say that now because we finally won a game!)
2002-10-03 10:38:08 AM
How come no one reviewed the Michigan / Notre Dame game?
2002-10-03 10:38:17 AM
Nabb1: didn't help fsu all that much last week. here's to two in a row!
2002-10-03 10:48:06 AM
Now if the Big Ten would discipline themselves for being unable to count to 11. Or at the very least, they could discipline themselves for having 10 crappy football teams (11 once Ohio State chokes to Michigan).

John Cooper is gone, ergo OSU's choking days are over. The Buckeyes will man-handle the still-overrated Wolverines this year, and I would say that even if I weren't an OSU partisan.

This sucks. You can tell exactly what's wrong with society by this case
in point. Just like the decision to give the medals to the canadian skaters.

The refs should call should be sacrosanct. Not to say their performance shouldn't
be examined when it comes time to assign a ref to a game, but once it's been
done it should be final, and there should be no snivelling about it after the fact.

The lesson is, if you want the system to work, whether it's a game or
the capital markets, you must make the system itself a sound one.
If there is a problem with the underlying system, then fix it.
Once the game is afoot, then play by the rules. Sending a few CEOs to
prison after the fact, or slapping some refs on the hand, and then turning
around and saying everything is fine with the system is stupid.

OK, rant over.

Oh ya, Go Buffs!
2002-10-03 12:10:43 PM
That just reminds me of how P.O.ed Paterno was after the Hawkeye/Nittany Lion game.

Hilarious seeing a guy his age runnign that fast.

Memo to Generation D:
Your PSA on football was received.

By the way..The Euros and others who play the sport called soccer football looooong before the Bears hit the turf. So back off slowly and plop your ass on the couch to vegitate in front of the tv on Saturday and Sunday to watch your football.

Thank you Murdock for Fox Sports World!
2002-10-03 12:58:07 PM
HERO? The conference suspended them...after the conference's team lost to a crappy ACC team. Suspicious, maybe. Hero, no.
2002-10-03 01:02:48 PM
CommieSheep, I've said this to you before, and I'm gonna say it to you again.

We don't give a damn how you do it over there.
2002-10-03 01:04:02 PM
Actually...the Big East officials are the worst. Granted, they only have 2 teams that qualify as actual football teams... but if you watched the Syracuse game last weekend...holy crap the Big East refs sucked. It's even funnier now that most schools have jumbotrons and the idiot refs have to see their blown calls with no power to change them...
2002-10-03 01:09:57 PM
Couldn't agree more Bubbaprog. Of course, I am biassed since I go to UT

2002-10-03 03:49:29 PM
Go start FarkUK if you euro freaks wanna call soccer football. This is a US of A site, ya'all is just visitors.

Play by your hosts rules you man.

Go Packers. Die Bears
2002-10-03 05:11:46 PM
No sh*t!
After watching the Notre Dame/Michigan fiasco I have no faith in Big Ten (11) officiating.
Thanks for giving ND the game, assholes!
2002-10-03 05:30:56 PM
Can we stop trying to proselytize? America hates soccer. Always has, always will. And no one outside of America (NFL Europe be damned) will ever catch on to football.
2002-10-03 10:46:33 PM
Where's the officiating review after that horrible pair of calls in the PSU-Iowa game?
2002-10-04 03:04:23 AM
It's about goddamn time!

-frustrated Illini fan, still disgruntled about the Bears invading town...*grrrr*
