Until recently in England, Halloween had not been celebrated. Instead children would walk the streets begging 'A penny for the Guy?" Who is the 'Guy'?

What a crock.

Wow, that has to be some sort of record for me. Four words misspelled in one sentence.

Bleary eyes.

"Remember, remember the 5th of November,
The gunpowder, treason, and plot.
I know of no reason,
Why the gunpowder treason,
Should ever be forgot."

Remember, remember the 5th of November
A plot by a few brave young men
But there's wankers still there
In Parliament Square
So let's try to explode them again

Wicca has no connection to anything but itself. It's a cobbled together mish-mash of all sorts of pagan rituals and traditions. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but the religion of the Celts and the Druids died when they did.

Sure, after what was left of the Celts were converted. The vast majority of Celtic people were wiped out by Roman General Paulinus when he put down the rebellion led by Queen Boudica.

No-the religion of the Celts died with the Roman takeover(with im sure some germanic religious interference. The people obviously didnt die out but their old gods did. Christianity wasnt origionally their faith-although im sure most of us know just how important the celts were to keeping it going as the dark ages fell.

Uh...what?

Boudicca was the head of one tribe(the Iceni). While the romans certainly did their best to smush the Iceni after her retarded last stand(not sure why she tried to stand against the romans in an open field), her tribesmen and their allied "kin" were in no way the whole of the Celts. The Celts existed all across europe and were forced into smaller and smaller areas of control as the Romans and Germanics became more powerful. Take a look at "Gaul" for example-celtic people ALSO defeated by the Romans and one of the great "what if's" of european history.

I do not believe there has ever been any suggestion this is even remotely true. The vast majority of people in Ireland and Britain at the time did not take part in that fight, much less lose their lives to 10,000 Romans.

I disagree. The Romans did not conquer the entirity of the Celtic world. Even in Romanised Britain, there was no law against honoring the gods of one's people, even if the druids were outlawed as threats to the state. More affluent families did embrace the interpretatio Romana, but again, this had nothing to do with places the Romans never took or held, like Ireland and northern Britain.

I can give you that one :) You are right-the Romans tended to let you continue your beleifs. However the religion did begin to fade under Roman control

However the religion did begin to fade in conquered areas under Roman control and continued elsewhere for several centuries until being supplanted by Christianity or, much more rarely, Germanic polytheism.

Exactly.. the Romans were much like the persians of previous. Usually did not give a shiat what the hell your customs were so long as they didn't conflict with Ceaser...and even if they did you could pay Ceaser enough to leave you the hell alone.

Roman Empire = Giant Extortion network essentially.

The Romans didn't even make it to Ireland, and Scotland was pretty much untouched too.

Wicca is an excuse for fat people to get dressed up in black and bond with other fat people dressed in black in the hope of getting laid.

Did anyone exercise the option to write and tell the creators what a bag o' crap that quiz was? I'm thinking we should send them some of the alternative questions being posed here in FARK.
