The kid apparently (article is lacking in details) told the cops something that got the other kids in trouble. Then "tells the truth" that the other kids didn't do anything he didn't agree to.

Lying to the police and wasting their time is obstruction of justice. They could have been doing something productive and investigating a real crime, or at least having a second cup of coffee that morning instead of dicking around with kid and his pole.

Unless the kid only told the cops he agreed to it, so the bullies wouldn't beat the shiat out of him later for getting them busted.

The news stations on Friday were saying that the boy who was taped to the poll was a "special needs student." They never elaborated on just what exactly that meant, but seems to add another layer to the story that they aren't mentioning this time.

Anyone have info on the "first half" of the story? Why did the cops get involved in this anyway? In my day the teachers would have just cut me.. err the kid down and it would have ended at that. Did this kid call the cops afterwards or did the school? or more likely his parents?
