Tatsuma: So wait, you're supporting the PKK terrorists who want to take territory presently in Turkey's hands, not the legitimate established and more-or-less Western state attempting to fight terrorism with harsh but necessary measures?

Lawl.

Awesome headline +1

2007-10-21 12:31:15 PM
The PKK isn't making this easy for anyone, are they? I've been sort of a Kurdish supporter for a while. I hope they come down hard on these jackasses. If they don't, God help us the US might have to root out another terrorist band on behalf of a pseudo government. It won't end well. All we can hope for is that we can have a good playdate with the Turks and some goodwill will come out of it.

/grumble.

This is too much like a game of Risk with six players.

I just want Putin to attack the Kurds, so I can submit a funny headline.

True enough. And there is a way to beat an ambush. Untrained ambush versus trained soldiers might be exactly what happened. Still deserves a 'fail' pic :)

Turkish disinformation to justify the upcoming incursion into Iraq?

2007-10-21 12:36:41 PM
and I bet the US still tells Turkey that striking against the Kurds is not in their interest and they should try this diplomatically. Turkey has a million more times of a right to go into Iraqi Kurdistan than the US ever had to invading Iraq

Yeah, Tats, that is exactly whats going on here! After all it isn't as if most of the people who had something to do with the Armenian genocide are dead or dying now. 1917 was only yesterday.

Fark Turkey for letting us bring our shiat through there!

What the fark were those farking farkers thinking helping us out like that?

Yeah, but on the other hand, a million times zero is still zero.

Normally, I agree with you, but on this one I don't. Turkey is being attacked and its soliders being killed. They have to respond. How would the U.S. or Israel respond? This was the most stupid thing that the Kurds could do. The have pissed away any validity they have by attacking into Turkey.

That, I agree with. What I disagree with is that Turkey is going to fark up the only portion of Iraq that's not a complete disaster, and is most likely going to bring Iran into the game with them.

i suppose when you continuously announce for weeks ahead of time that you are planning to attack someone, sometimes they get the hint and attack you first

I agree it is farked up, but what is Turkey to do? They can't just stand by while people kill their soldiers. I think that the Iraq government should step in and stomp the rebels. That would bring a legitmiacy to their government. The U.S. should secure the borders, (even though they cannot secure the southern borders of our country).

snow9999:

They should have asked the US in private talks to do better with the borders or that they'd invade, and in public say

"What can we do? The US government doesn't want us to go"

If the US fails to secure the borders, THEN invade.

The U.S. should secure the borders, (even though they cannot secure the southern borders of our country).

Agreed 100%

FTA: About 3,000 PKK fighters are believed to be based in northern Iraq near the Turkish border, says the BBC's Sarah Rainsford in Istanbul.

How many troops does Turkey have near the border? Wasn't it 60,000?

I also note that the number of troops Turkey has arranged on their border is almost half the total number of troops we have in Iraq.

Tatsuma: They should have asked the US in private talks to do better with the borders or that they'd invade, and in public say

You know they have been talking to Iraq about it right??

What is Iraq going to do about it without the U.S. training their troops to do it or just doing it for them??

Does Iraq or the U.S. even have the resources to invest in doing this?

Judging by the state of things in Iraq, I'm thinking NO.

12 people died, but let's have a laugh about it.

I have a feeling, (no backup), that they did and our arrogant administration blew it off, (like everything else). On a side point, it says a lot if Iraq, (with American support), cannot enforce its border. This has become a farce of the U.S. administration, kind of like everything they have done. Mission Accomplished. I have a feeling, (no backup), that they did and our arrogant administration blew it off, (like everything else). Actually I thought that part was assumed, I was just playing along. After all, it's not news...

But yeah, survivors write the reports. Look at that whole story about Bravo Two Zero.

Defending your area in Iraq and attacking into another country is two different things. They were wrong to Invade Turkey and kill soliders. That made them targets for an all out Turkish attack.

2007-10-21 01:25:04 PM
I'm sure someone at the Carlyle Group is supplying both sides with arms.

I don't think Kurds being shiat on gives them the right to target and kill Turkish primary school teachers. FARK the PKK.

2007-10-21 01:27:28 PM
Just watch, Turkey will use this as an excuse to invade Iraq.

Which, mind you, is a hell of a lot better excuse than we had for invading Iraq. I forget, what did we invade Iraq for? WMD? Bring democracy to the region?

Damn the PKK is ridiculously arrogant. Cross border raid against the massive Turkish army threatening to invade at any minute? They're just begging the Turkish to stomp them, I don't get it.
