FTFA: A Michigan couple was thanking their lucky stars after finding that their 1-year-old baby survived a tornado that demolished their home.

Yeah, where were your lucky stars when the tornado struck, huh?

Leave it to babies. If only we adults could be as resilient!

Michigan was POUNDED by storms on Thursday, unusual for this late in October. I don't live near the location of the story, but we hit the deck when a tornado warning was issued for 4 miles to our south heading NE. That cell missed us by fewer than a couple of miles. Yikes!

/My great-great grandmother was killed in the Palm Sunday tornados of 1964...

Actually if you hold em by the ankles and spin around to throw its more like a hammer throw.

Kid's damned lucky. I got nailed by a drunk driver in a 3/4 ton '91 Chevy pickup, and only got thrown 30 feet in the air and 200+ feet backwards before I touched the ground, I was doing nearly 30 on my mountain bike downhill, the drunk coming from the other way at 40 or so.

That kid will likely get gov't assistance, whereas I have to resort to lawsuits and the *HOPE* of Tennessee's DUI Victim's fund.

I dunno. If I'm on a hill with a decent slope, I can get 50 or 60 feet.

Fark. When did that happen? How bad were your injuries?

That'll move the chains.

Kinda reminds me of Gene Deckerhoff, the announcer for the Buccaneer Radio Network (now on US103.5 FM in West Central Florida). Usually this pronouncement follows his classic "They're formed up with the lone set back. _____ takes the snap, drops back, thows it deep..."

Now, that's obscure.

Yes, yes they do. You only have to be willing to notice them.

2007-10-20 08:06:46 PM
i view this as a who the fark cares article. if someone else moved 40 feet in a tornado it wouldnt make the news. plus a baby is much smaller and less likely to be hit by debris and was in a crib that protects it.

and for all of you say but it was a baby! your evil! i say you judge one human life over another which makes you evil

The weather Thursday was wild. In GR we watched the supercells move up the west and east side of 28th street but we had clear skies with the moon and stars shining overhead. The lightning was super thick bolts dancing over the thunderheads.

Another couple who was spending their first night in their new house was pushed into a pond on their land. Their bodies were found 10 hrs later. Must have build too close to the edge.

Yeah, supercells are just absolutely insane, we had one hit about a 1/4 mile from our house (in NJ of all places). The area this thing went through was very rural and heavily wooded, it literally looked like someone set down a 100ft wide bulldozer and ran it in a straight line through the woods for a mile and half. What was really insane and sort of altogether surreal was exactly how straight and well defined the borders were. I swear you could have taken a length of string and held it to the side (the border) where it began and ended, and not had a single tree touch it along the way.

Like I said surreal.

Anyone else seen the result of one of these things, is this normal?
