Damn.

I've been hit like that before (boxing), right on the button. You don't even realize you were out when you snap back up. "What the fark? Where did he go? Get back here, you chickenshiat..."

"Dude, you were out." "I was?" "Yeah." "Did we win?" *pause* "No. You were out."

You know the next day, though.

That last left hook/uppercut to the dude's jaw rattled the brain! You could see it in the slo-mo replay.
DAMN, HE FARKED HIS SHIAT UP!

I'm sorry... can someone explain to me why this was allowed to happen? Do the refs usually let 2 people fight like this??

Never watched hockey ever? Unless I'm mistaken, they let them go at it because during a fight the ice is a very dangerous place for refs and such, so they will only move in when they can see it as manageable. The refs can actually make the situation worse by moving in because of the terrain so they are very cautious as to when they even attempt anything. Plus it's part of the culture of hockey so they'll usually let them brawl it up for the fans.

/that's what I was told when I first started watching at least
//for their own safety

It is actually more dangerous to intervene before they get it out of their system.

No fight means they'll keep chipping away at each other - high sticks, slashes etc. Way better to duke it out, sit in the box and feel shame for a few minutes, then all is wonderful again and you can get back to playing beautiful hockey.

Normal. I've been in a few - emotions get up and you have to vent. Great fun. Chums after and everything - no worries.

Canadian eh.

I was wondering why the refs and shiat weren't pulling them apart. I was thinking is this allowed?

They usually let them go until one person falls on the ice. then the refs break it up so no one gets cut from a skate.

I heard the ref on a broadcast once yell "If you're going to go, then go!" because the two guys were just dancing. Sure enough, they went.

That was a good fight video. I love seeing the guy get up and skate off. Reminds me every time of that goalie, Dida, for Milan (I think) who got carried off on a stretcher in a blanket after getting brushed on the cheek by a fan.

Hockey FTW.

Fighting is bullshiat. If I want to see a toughguy competition, ill go watch the UFC. Fighting just keeps losers in the lineups of the NHL when smaller skilled players could actually be scoring goals.

As a former ref, I'd be glad to answer your question. While the pugilists are standing it's dangerous to get between them. How would you like to have walked into that punch? I used to try to cool things down by getting between the two players, but ended up getting my head beat by both of them. So the SOP for the linesmen is to wait until they fall to the ice, then you break them up. And in the pile, if someone doesn't want to come nicely, dig your whistle into his ear. That'll learn him.

Well it's like they say, "you go to a fight and a hockey game breaks out."

These are two CHL teams (Central Hockey League). The Eagles are up in Loveland CO, just north of Denver. I have season tickets to the other local CHL team, the RockyMountain Rage.

First home game on Friday.

To quote one Percival Cox: "Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrooong. Wrong, wrong-wrong, wroooong!".

If they're smaller and more skilled, and therefor more valuable to the team, odds are they won't fight. That's why they have the big, body checkin' enforcers there to throwdown should the need arise. You make it sound like everyone's FORCED to fight whether they like it or not.
