When they started investing in China they weren't part of china (and not even slated to become part of china) and they have certain legal peculiarities which makes them outsiders yet non outsiders

The problem with the Chinese being aggressive is that they are surrounded by two other large nations (India and Russia) who will not allow their expansionist thinking come into their countries. The days of more men = more success in a militaristic manner are gone. High kills weapons will always keep large armies at bay.

Basically China will fight itself and crumble inwardly. It not going to be very pretty for anyone. Their economy is only strong in appearance, the base is very rocky, and can easily crumble. This is also bad for countries that deal heavily with China (i.e., America).

In my opinion its a race against the clock for America and China. Had America not gotten itself involved in multi-front war in the Middle East, I would have put my money on us coming out on top. But now, China just needs to build their economy so that if a revolution does occur their economy won't crumble.

It will be interesting to watch.

Correct. The Chinese (this being the government and citizens of China) own only 4% of our debt.

Where they do have us by the short and curlies is their dollar reserves. I've heard it's something like $1.4 trillion. Part of what makes the US dollar as valuable as it is (I know you're laughing, but it is still worth something) is the fact so many nations hold it as a reserve currency. China could liquidate their dollar holdings and drop the USD to point where it's on par with the Mexican peso.

Shame to be missing too many of these.
