Hey, remember when children's shows had cool guests and themes? Are our children regressing?

etymxris: I think the creepiness of this video shows more problems with our current generation than the previous. We (guys especially) have to worry that anything we say or do can be interpreted as some sort of sexual perversion.

I don't know. There's an awfully big leap from trying to explain a heterosexual enjoyment of Broadway musicals to trying to explain a grown man dressed in a little boy outfit rolling his eyes with apparent pleasure as he licks a great big stick-related candy.

This.

It's scary to think that our nation has somehow become even MORE puritan in the last 30 years.

I remember seeing that on TV as a kid. God, I feel old.

2007-10-18 01:41:50 PM
Ok...that was disturbing. I now know why I never watched that show.

This is one of the few things I remember from the Electric Company. Every once in a while this song or the Spiderman song will pop into my head.

2007-10-18 01:43:37 PM
That wouldn't have scared me, but some of that show and others did scare me. In fact, Sesame Street would terrify the crap of out me, I would literally be scared stiff at some of the stuff.

Such as:
Daddy Dear

and
Ernie in a Pyramid

Tea_Baggins, that picture should be Exhibit A in every case challenging anti-baggy-pants laws. No generation whose members willingly wore outfits like that should be allowed to set dress codes.

unremarkable asterisk:
Oh, yeah? Just remember that this was from 30 years ago. Lilly is pushing 60 now.

Rita Moreno? Try 75.

You guys HAVE to check this out:

Morgan Freeman in a casket

I am going to have to devote some time in therapy to the Electric Company

'Sounds like the #1 ghey pickup line here in SF this year.

Oh Billlyyyyy!

2007-10-18 01:50:17 PM
Oh, I just LOVED the Electric Company! I still remember it fondly - Easy Reader, Bill Cosby (first season or two), the guy who did the Johnny Cash parodies, and the lovely, lovely Rita Moreno. As someone who grew up on this stuff and now has a five-year old, I fantasize about a steel cage match in which the cast of the Electric Company goes medieval on the Doodlebops (which, thankfully, my son has outgrown).

2007-10-18 01:50:40 PM
Yeah.. impaler..

Sure those 70's shows are weird.. but that pic just illustrates we aren't much different now-a-days.

2007-10-18 01:51:41 PM
Was the gorilla named Paul in that skit too?

I love this place so much.

This is the one that always scared the crap out of me:

It had Spiderman... which was enough for me.

2007-10-18 01:54:43 PM
The title is enough to think I shuldn't view this at work....damn prudes.

2007-10-18 01:57:33 PM
Looks like something a Republitard should use for a campaign ad.

2007-10-18 01:57:58 PM
lolmao666: is this a real pic from the show? It's totally sick.

I believe it actually was -- don't hold me to that, though. It's probably completely out context, but it still doesn't stop me from feeling dirty (as in slightly sick) having seen that pic.

Can someone please post the picture of the "Have a seat over here" guy so I can feel a bit better?

2007-10-18 01:58:37 PM
Oh, I would so lick Lilly.

2007-10-18 02:00:41 PM
Ah the 70's, they were a great five years...

2007-10-18 02:01:01 PM
Better than 99% of the crap that passes for kids TV today.

//off tha' lawn!

2007-10-18 02:01:09 PM
I'm sorry I was watching the black chicks boobies bounce. Now what were you saying?

2007-10-18 02:01:12 PM
Damn you, subby. I haven't even clicked the link yet and already I'm having posttraumatic flashbacks from this damn song.

Yes that is a real pic from the show.. it's from the beginning of every show.

2007-10-18 02:04:43 PM
I had a thing for Maria on Sesame Street.

2007-10-18 02:05:00 PM
Weird? Yes...

Annoying? Definitely...

Creepy? Not really cluing into that particular "vibe"...

2007-10-18 02:05:22 PM
desynch: Yes that is a real pic from the show.. it's from the beginning of every show.

I have a feeling though, that it is an odd perspective shot, so that the creepy pedophile guy is actually standing several feet in front of the pink girl, rather than right in her... uhm... crotchular region.

2007-10-18 02:05:25 PM
ozone-I'd let M Solly and LBilly lick my lolly.

Sorry, had to. But yeah, that's disturbing.

2007-10-18 02:05:29 PM
Damn, Molly is cute...

Oh man I forgot about that one! Didn't scare me though, I loved it.
I loved that loaf a bread container of milk stick a butta kid too.

2007-10-18 02:07:08 PM
MMann: but if billy licks a loli he's gonna end up on dateline

burndtdan, I don't think you've ever made a comment I didn't like.

/Keep up the good work.
//Ya, I LoL'd

wow thanks.

2007-10-18 02:07:28 PM
I miss the '70s.

2007-10-18 02:08:32 PM
I #$* remember that. Pre-cable childhood years.

It wasn't pervy back then to a kid. Just that weird silly. Times have changed so much.

2007-10-18 02:10:49 PM
GentlemanJ Damn, Molly is cute...

Molly also knows how to work those hips. If you look at Billy while Molly is doing her jig he seems to be stiffening a bit behind his lolly.

I was disappointed in Sister Peter Marie's solo. I expected more from her.
