The TV-edited version of Scarface is the stuff of legends.

Yippe Kay Yay, mother father!

The TV-edited version of Pulp Fiction is amazingly hilariously bad.

Mallrats is entertaining only if you love the unedited movie.

Gig103: Yippe Kay Yay, mother father!

Or in the case of Die Hard 2, where they have to write in a new character's name.

"YIPPIE-KAI-YAY, Mr. Falcon!"

quadropheniac: The TV-edited version of Pulp Fiction is amazingly hilariously bad.

YES, especially the immediate cutaway after Vincent accidentally shoots Marvin and we get to hear that horrible voiceover that sounds NOTHING like John Travolta saying, "I just shot Marvin in the face..."

Good times.

I dont know why they even bother showing movies like that on regular tv. They just end up ruining them.

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: "YIPPIE-KAI-YAY, Mr. Falcon!"

Yippie-Kai-Yay, Kemosabe!

YES, especially the immediate cutaway after Vincent accidentally shoots Marvin and we get to hear that horrible voiceover that sounds NOTHING like John Travolta saying, "I just shot Marvin in the face..."

Exactly that moment.

I remember when Comedy Central aired Ferris Bueller's Day Off ad-nauseum on strange time slots for months.

Great movie, but not for Comedy Central, apparently.

Someone in another thread back in the day captured it perfectly: "Pardon my French, but Cameron is so uptight, that if you put up lump of coal in his fist, in two weeks you'd have a diamond."

"It's the one that says 'Bad Mother Hubbard' on it."

That doesn't technically make a whole lot of sense.

I love the tv version of Silence of the Labs, when multiple miggs goes "I can smell your scent".

Gig103

I swear to god when I was a kid the edited version of Die Hard used the line "Yippee kay yay, frog juicer." Frog juicer, I swear.

They need to make new TV edits for some of these old movies. Have you watched the Breakfast Club on cable? Back whenever they slapped this thing together, you couldn't say 'Eat my Shorts' on TV, so Bender tells the principal to 'Eat my Socks.'

The networks don't do this anymore, sadly. Now the original actors do an ADR when they do touch ups on the feature film, and they record alt takes for the TV version released to networks and stations.

That's what this was. That's Goodman on the ADR.

I think the Coen brothers did it on purpose.

hahahahahahah....you see what happens when you feed a walrus scrambled eggs!? Are you farking kidding me!? Thats almost funnier than "Do you see what happens when you fark a stranger in the ass!?!"

I wish I could remember how the Breakfast Club was cable edited. I remember it being real bad.

I actually recorded this version on my DVR so that I could watch it with my 3-year-old.

IIRC, there's a ytmnd with censored Pulp Fiction clips which goes "Do you see a sign in front of my house that says dead African-American storage? You know why there's no sign in front of my house that says dead African-American storage? Cause storing dead African-Americans ain't my rooty-toot-tootin' business!"

american history x is horrible when altered.

big skinheads are supposed to drop the n word all the time. but things like "nugget" or "nig chiclet" sound so odd in that context.

Good thing we are protected from all these bad words and their accompanying evil thoughts.

"Well, what about you, dad?"
"Damn you."
"No, dad, what about you?"
"DAMN YOU."
"No, dad! WHAT ABOUT YOU?!"
"DAMN YOU!!!"

Yelling "damn" looks nothing like yelling "fark."

Man, I hate it when censors take out a curse word and replace it with something completely ridiculous.

I say that's farked up.

I love cable versions of movies. Mall Rats is almost better on Cable... the dubbing is so bad and makes little to no sense.

My fav is from Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Spicolli calls someone a fuzzy nerd. Doesn't get much better than that....

Omorda: american history x is horrible when altered.

I watched this just last night on FX (I think). The were saying the 'N' word left and right, but the rest of it was badly dubbed. I love it, you can say 'attractive and successful African-American' but not 'shiat'. Unbelievable.

My favorite has to be 'Die Hard 3' (yeah shiatty movie) when 'motherfarker' was 'melon farmer'.

2007-10-18 08:00:22 PM
Does anyone know where to get the entire movie? I can never seem to catch it on Comedy Central.

/They peed on my valued rug.

2007-10-18 08:46:12 PM
I'm laughing my ass off and I haven't even watched the clip.

The movie has a whole new level of funny!

Make the TV version a bonus feature on some future re-release!

I watched it on USA a couple years ago and they couldn't say anything at all. Huh. it was so unwatchable i had to turn it off.

Amusing, but what the networks did to BRAZIL was unforgivable.

2007-10-19 06:53:04 AM
It amuses me when they show movies on TV, and edit words out of them that they're allowed to say on TV shows...

I just caught the ending of an edited se7en last night... they replaced phuking phreak with, "You frikkin sleazebag"

Top-Gun on USA in the early 90s

"You can be my wingman anytime"
"MILNAY, you can be mine!"

Seriously people, now we're just making up fake swear words. Well good sir, flak that in the bloitin walsh.

"Your best? Losers whine about their best. Winners go home and...date...the prom queen."

// if you've heard it, you know how bad that dub is
