Once, while driving through Houston, I saw a vanity plate that said "666 CJ". Freaked me out. So, I had a beer.

Y'know, I've seen every Canadian license plate EXCEPT for Saskatchewan. And Nunavut.

A couple of years ago the Wisconsin DOT told me I couldn't have a plate that read "PLSSTFU" because it is "offensive." Same with "WTF R U"

I have some family that live in a small town called "Montgomery" in West Virginia.

I don't know if he still lives there anymore, or still has it, but there is a doctor there that has a 666 license plate, and had it for many years.

I remember seeing and asking about it when I was a kid and we visited there.

If he is looking for all numbers he could get...

It was touched in a bit in the link gbv23 gave, but essentially 666 is a meaningless number when you examine its origins. In the roman writing system, any name could be expressed as a number. Nero Caesar, who was a real bastard, especially to Christians, of course could have his name expressed as the number 666. So the guy who wrote revelations was alive shortly after Nero's death, and of course due to his Christian hatred of Nero, he incorporated his number into his writings, and thus 666 became the number of the beast, which then became a killer Iron Maiden song.

We bought a black car this summer, and sure enough- the auto license office hands me a plate with "666" in it.

And- so what. All the furor over this stuff just means that there are a whole lot of people with too much time on their hands and hyperactive imaginations. The Book of Revelation is a fertile field for all such folk to plow.

As for what "El numero del diablo" really is, Revelation 13:18, KJV, is fairly explicit: "Here is wisdom.
