Yeah, maybe it is, but what would even be more heroic is if the US somehow managed to stay the hell out of the Muslim world's business and let them solve their own problems.

Yes, I felt the need to add this.

Although I consider myself to be a spiritual person I am completely against all forms of organized religion. That being said, I find it somewhat hypocritical when Xians and Jews say Islam is a violent religion and is completely unfair to women.

All religions are unfair to women and they're all violent.

Actually, Buddhists are engaged in violent conflict in Sri Lanka (I think).

Um, subby, in an article about the beating of women, calling the writer "hittable" may not be the height of good taste.

I'd like to see some of those strong, virile Muslim men that advocate beating women step into a ring with a certain Muslim woman, that being Laila Ali. I'd pay to see that. You listening HBO?

2007-10-16 02:37:48 PM
she's really not that hittable

2007-10-16 02:38:23 PM
I am sure that some Muslims found her film 'Submission' extremely upsetting. But many Christians found 'Life of Brian' or the 'Last Temptation of Christ' deeply insulting. They did not however murder the producer or try to assassinate the writer.

That!

Farkin_wolfpack: Actually, Buddhists are engaged in violent conflict in Sri Lanka (I think).

There are violent Buddhists, though we wouldn't truly call them Buddhist...just as there are violent Christians that peaceful men of their faith wouldn't classify as Christians. The cultures and the people involved are the problem, not the philosophy that they claim guides them. All religion values peace in theory, but it takes truly religious people to make that theory work.

I know it may not be the most popular stance on here, but I'm going to go out on a limb. Muslims shouldn't beat women. There, I said it.

Episcopalian, not an atheist, and would knock the dust off it. For real.

Also Laila Ali, but wouldn't use the phrase "hit it" for fear she might take it offensively and punch my nose through the back of my head.
