I hope these farkers get sued into oblivion (no, not the RPG)). Not like anything will happen beyond cops getting paid leave like usual.

Waterhouse was arrested, accused of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. A jury acquitted him of all charges.

And the out of control cops in question are still on the job.
If the cops themselves have no respect for the law, the have no business being cops, period.

Not if they lose that case.

And just going by the little bit of that video I hope they lose.

The homeowner's association is really strict about the color of tarps covering the rusty filth. I like the landscaping!

I don't think that cop was thinking when he made that report.

Who the hell would use an expensive camera as a weapon?

Self-fulling prophesy. If you think all cops are going to be dicks, you end up acting the same, and things go bad.

Me? I don't have such latent fears of authority, so my dealings with the police have always been cordial and uneventful. It's all about YOUR attitude, not the other guy.

Yes, these were just a bunch of bad apples. This was an isolated incident. Just like the thousands of others of isolated incidents. The action of the thousands of cops who act illegally make the dozen or so who don't look bad, and its not fair to those twelve cops who actually respect the law and civil liberties.

To be fair, it's only 90% of cops that give the other 10% a bad name.

fark.The Police.

That phrase has never sounded more appropriate than for this video right here. Compare this to the video from Britain last month where a guy is filming from within his own backyard a couple of cops across the street who are harassing some kids. The cops notice him filming then walk onto his property and tell him to stop filming. He stands his ground and tells them they have no right to do that. The idiot cops call in to HQ and realize they are in the wrong and then leave.

I've had experiences with both kinds of cop. I think the majority of cops are decent enough fellows. Unfortunately, they cover for the shiat the bad cops pull. Until the cops are willing to police their own ranks, they'll all be (quite rightfully) tarred by the same brush.

You know, just once I'd like to see the entire videotape, not just the part those with agendas want the public to see.

Funniest part of the whole tape:
"I BEEN HERE THE WHOLE TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....."

All cops are lying scumbag fackwads. Think you know cops that are nice people? I know a nice young man with a promising career as an attorney--his name is Theodore Bundy.

"Oboy, another chance for Farkers to judge every cop in the world on the actions of a couple asshats with badges."

No just a place to vent about bad experiences with cops. And cops have the power to make your day very bad either way, so I agree that their abuses of power should be made public. I've known some good cops here in Boston, but I've also seen a lot more cops who are uncaring, and just have poor judgment. Which leads to my warning: if the Red Sox win the World Series, for heavens sake people around Fenway, be careful and remember Victoria Snelgrove.

This sholud turn into a really interesting thread really quickly.

//No they didn't
///Yes they did, here's anecdotal evidence why
////Bulls__t they did, here's further anecdotal evidence why
//Really apathetic right now, could not give a fark either way. 5 slashies too much (or too many)? Damn right.

I think you've got your numbers backwards; either that or you have a bad grasp of just how many cops there are that manage not to do horrible things every day.

Yes, this was out of control, these cops need to be sent up the river if everything's as it appears to be from the article. But it is a one-in-a-thousand occurrence, despite what you might see on Youtube.

2007-10-16 07:40:55 AM
All they have to do is claim the man with the camera is a terrorist. Then they can do anything they want. Dubya will back them up.

For the record, most of my interactions with cops have been positive. Even when I was way out of bounds.

I always wondered that if you clicked your heels and gave a cop a Hitler salute, would you get arrested? I think it falls under Disorderly Conduct, but then again, anything can, like the holding call in football.

I'm sure there are more than 12 cops that don't activly break the law... I'm sure most cops are pretty much ok, except for one little thing... they all know at least a few bent cops. They protect the bent cops as long as they can justify it to themselves ... which seems to be a very long time, i.e. forever or untill the bent cop gets totaly out of hand and does something that they can't hide.

As long as there are known bent cops protected by "nonbent" cops, I assume most cops are bent.

Afterthough:
Bent as in crooked or corrupt , not as in gay.

That looks like a really nice neighborhood.

Look at the buildings in the background. Somebody wants the property for commercial development. I'd bet that a deeper look into things will likely show that these people have refused to sell to someone with connections.

CruiserTwelve: Oboy, another chance for Farkers to judge every cop in the world on the actions of a couple asshats with badges.

The problem is that any cops act like that. Given the position of authority they're in, it's inexcusable to allow any cop to remain on the force after an action like this. Unfortunately, even the good cops don't work towards getting asshats like this off the force, because of some stupid 'brotherhood' bullshiat.

2007-10-16 07:50:13 AM
Whenever you see a cop just lie down on your stomach and keep your hands behind your back until he's done searching your property. Then you wont have to biatch about your whether the constitution actually exists anymore.

Dress cops in pink tutus rather than black leather and you'll keep out all the ones who are in it for the power tripping.

I live in what is effectively "Copland". Almost every city and county cop live in my town because it is as far as they can get from the city and still reside in the county where they work. Although the attitude of these police is not universal, it is more prevalent than I'm comfortable with. Power corrupts, cops have a little power, so they are a little corrupt, it's human nature. Just take policing yourselves seriously and we won;t all end up in a situation like Mexico.

milesdavishatesu: ever met a cop that wasn't a worthless, racist piece of shiat? I haven't.

One, and I had a college class with him. All the rest were assholes.

When I was younger, I was out late at a convenience store/gas station that was a block up or so up a hill from my house, and while walking home I was stopped. I had had an argument with mom's boyfriend and was planning to hang out outside of our house and listen to music and eat junk food until everything cooled off. It seems there had been a few robberies in a last few days way up the hill away from my house. I had my cd player and some cds in a leather polaroid camera bag. Perhaps the cop thought it was a purse. I showed him what was in it and told him that I was going home. He offered me a ride, just as it was starting to rain. So I said yes. When we got there he ran my mom and her boyfriend's license plates through the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) database. I'm pretty certain he also ran my name at some point.

I was an innocent kid, and he was a dick.

How it works is the good cops will never rat out the bad cops for fear of retribution. That's why the massive distrust.
