What I loved about this one was that they tell you what the majority opinion is, then ask you the question. Thats a great way to get accurate results.

Hmmm you are right. I submitted this only 3 hours ago and the link is already farked. Basically this is what it said:

"In a recent poll 35% of people said that China is the largest threat to world peace. Who do you think is the largest threat to world peace?"

Then the results were something like:

China 45%
United States 20%
Someone else 18%
Iraq 4%
Iran 3%
Russia 3%

I'll have to think who that someone else was. One would think I would have remembered....

Shane: That someone else was!

Thanks to Bush, the US is the biggest threat to world peace.

They just created a new poll and this poll has not yet been put into the archives for some reason. When that happens I'll link it, if this thread is still here. Otherwise I'll resubmit.

anybody care to blame Clinton or Russia for making China a threat?

or is that Bush's fault also? like how the economy dipped "due to Bush" in January 2001.
2001-07-26 06:06:34 PM

How was China Clinton and Russia's fault?

Bush has done more to create enemies in this world than Clinton ever did, already - world leaders loved Clinton, he got several standing ovations at the UN. Bush, in his short term in office, already got China and Russia to sign a *nuclear ballistic missile alliance* against the United States. The Chinese and Russians hate each other - they wouldn't ally against the US during the cold war! Bush shoving the SDI down their throats apparently was *not* something they enjoyed, to say the least.

2001-07-26 06:53:17 PM
I agree with Rodney....

America is the bigger threat to world peace, China comes in second.
2001-07-26 07:15:59 PM
This isn't amusing, it's obvious. Them and their idiotic "Star Wars" shiat.
2001-07-26 07:16:11 PM
Skwidd, I'm impressed. I havn't seen much world peace. Is there really international law that requires the united states? Are you willing to become involved with humanity instead of watching your own ass? You havn't before.
2001-07-26 08:57:30 PM
The system is anarchic - there is no supranational authority that has legitimate use of force. As much as you might want to rant about it, the US hasn't done much jumping in as a police officer, considering the number of opportunities.

Until there is another world power that rivals the US in terms of strength, there is very little stability when it comes to conflict. We shall all miss the Cold War.
2001-07-26 09:59:08 PM
If anything, I think that the US has activly tried to undermine international law. They wouldn't sign the international land mine treaty. They wouldn't sign the Kyoto protocol. They wouldn't sign the biological weapons protocol. And now they are abandoning the ABM treaty, so they can give American weapon manufacturers a huge subsidy for a system that is yet proven to work.

When are we all going to just play nice?
2001-07-26 10:09:44 PM
Of course they're undermining international law. They're in the position of hegemon, and there is no way to enforce international law. From a realist perspective, anyone in that situation would do the same. From here, it's a matter of structuring international actions to whittle away at the US power, with the best opening being domestically.
2001-07-27 12:42:24 AM
LMAO Shane. "Yeah that was my point in my boobies."
2001-07-27 02:04:32 AM
Did everybody hear that the US walked out on a germ warfare limitation conference? Let's recap:

Astronomically expensive nuclear destabilisation is a good thing!
Global warming is a good thing!
Landmines are a good thing!
Unrestricted access to assault weapons is a good thing! And now germ warfare is a good thing!

No wonder the rest of the world hates us. One more stunt like this and I'm on the next boat to New Zealand. Or maybe France...

Bon voyage ! save me a seat....

As long as people only think in tems of money and not with their brain, the world is a f*cked up place.
2001-07-27 05:46:22 AM
Only 2nd?
2001-07-27 12:16:40 PM
Just because a president is well-received internationally doesn't mean he is doing the right thing for the country.
2001-07-27 04:08:15 PM
2001-07-28 11:36:50 PM
USA only 2nd? You'd think that with us being the world's hugest buttinskies we'd be first! Money talks, BS walks.
