Wow.
What a concept.
From the mouth of jarheads.

2007-10-11 06:51:14 PM
Or they could head to Saudi Arabia and attack it at the source.

So how long until Rushbo refers to him as a "phony soldier"?

I'd go for that. Iraq can be contained by the Army. Let the Core finish up in Afghanistan.

You claimed in another thread today to be an ex-Marine, and yet you don't know how to spell "Corps"? Hmmmmmm.

Yet another thread where TCS lives up to his login.

For those paying attention, the plan is to move the Marines to Afghanistan, where they can do what they do best, maneuver rapidly, engage, and destroy the enemy, while the Army shifts all of its focus to Iraq, where they can do what they do best, hold and maintain territory.

At no point did the Marine Corps Commandant recommend the U.S. abandon Iraq. He's looking at it from a strategic point of view as to what makes both missions more likely to succeed.

It sure would be swell if Canada could get a little help with the problem in Afghanistan. You know, that place where Osama Bin Laden is. You know, that guy who launched the attacks of 911.

But if we leave without winning on our terms, then it will hurt our pride, and if our pride is hurt then the enemy wins.

I met a marine a few weeks ago who said that they were all going to Afghanistan. I didn't know if he meant the entire U.S. military or just the marines. Guess he meant the latter.

As an ex-Marine, I couldn't agree more. Actually, if he said "The Suck", he would have certified himself an actual Marine.

This administration has only ever listened to people who tell them what they already want to hear.

But you probably knew that.

2007-10-11 09:23:10 PM
Sigh. The 'real' story is 20,000 Marines move to Afghanistan, and 20,000 Army grunts from Afghanistan move into Iraq. Watch Bush spin this as a troop withdrawal...

I'm a member of the Marine Core, so I'm getting a big kick out of these replies.

I say put the Marines to work doing what they do best: fighting from the toplofts of our fine frigates.

Hmmm, let's see -- keep the marines in Iraq pulling bodyguard duty or send them to Afghanistan to finish the damn job Bush flip-flopped on. I'm guessing Bush admin will do what it can to keep these marines in Iraq.

Meanwhile, the battle for hearts and minds continues:

By STEVEN R. HURST, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 39 minutes ago

BAGHDAD - A U.S. attack killed 19 insurgents and 15 civilians, including nine children, northwest of the capital Thursday - one of the heaviest civilian death tolls in an American operation in recent months. The military said it was targeting senior leaders of al-Qaida in Iraq:

That's perhaps what pisses me off about invading Iraq more than anything: it took resources away from securing Afghanistan where we were actually justified in invading. Fark you Bush supporters. Way to screw up America.

I used to be pissed off as well. But I think it is way past time to get over the anger and figure out a plan.

We are going to get nowhere in Iraq if we keep blowing people up. The McCain/Bush types are now arguing that there will be more bloodshed if we leave, and they may well be right.

But my question is: do you want your tax dollars being spent on killing children, and thereby giving aid and comfort to Al Qaeda who will point this out to the very people you are trying to win over?
