Students don't have any money, so what are they afraid of?

2007-10-11 12:23:22 PM
Wonder if they lock down the banks when they're looking for school robbers.

2007-10-11 12:23:45 PM
How much milk money do you think they can get off the kids really??

when you grow up, kids, you can be whatever you want. Except filty lawbreakin criminals. Remember, every time someone robs a bank, recess is canceled.

Erm. It's an elementary school...

So basically if you are planning to rob a bank, pick one near a school, but not too close. Since the police will be all worried about the schools it should make for a good escape.

Baker is a middle school. My 13 year old son attends that school. It is the closest to the bank in question.

/not far from exit 69 - Big Beaver

FTA: Investigators said two black men, both wearing caps and bandanas, white shirts, and khaki pants

They should be arrested for having poor fashion sense, too. You never wear a bandana and a cap at the same time.

nowhere in the article did it say how old the suspects were.....i'm just saying, they could counting their money while eating pudding as we speak.

also..."robbed the Fifth Third bank on Rochester Road north of Big Beaver Road."

WTF name is Fifth Third Bank? does that make sense to anyone?

Fifth Third Bank was the genius name they came up with when Fifth Bank and Third Bank merged. I shiat you not.

This is much better though- here's how to get to Big Beaver Rd:

No, it doesn't make any sense, but I do get a ton of phishing scam mails from people claiming to be them, so they must be big enough to get people to bite on this sort of thing.

Psst, pass it on. Elizabeth Banks is visiting four schools in Troy, Michigan.

Erm. Who cares? It was a silly comment not meant to depict actual feelings or thoughts about said issue at hand. If I wanted to say something serious and really contribute something, I would have read the article.

I remember in high school people tried to steal the signs for it..

2007-10-11 12:58:59 PM
Like any banks in Michigan have any money.

2007-10-11 12:59:39 PM
natgod Thank you, Thank you very much... What's really weird is that my dad pointed that sign out to me when I was, like 17 or 18 or something. He was sort of snickering and I was like, "What?... Ohhh!"

2007-10-11 01:01:02 PM
That's got to suck. Got to stay indoors for recess, but if the lockdown doesn't end before school lets out, that's only more time for the teachers to assign homework.

It's really going to suck for the students who have the teachers that say "Since school is going to go on indefinitly today, let's get a start on tomorrow's assignments. Pull out your math books and turn to page..."

Merger of 5th National Bank & 3rd National Bank about 20 years ago.

Usually written Fifth/Third.

thats still the dumbest bank name i've possibly ever heard.

this isn't that funny but thought i'd mention it because i'm bored:
i live in a state that still has dry counties. the first college i went to was in such a county. so, we had to drive about 30 minutes down the road to blackwell to buy booze. that exit was 101. our not very funny joke was our favorite class was blackwell 101.

/had a huge break between my block of classes and calculus 1.
//was pretty drunk for 100% of that class.
///passed.....i think......

It's certainly not newsflash worthy when a Detroit area school goes on lockdown because some random lawbreaker is about. It happens at least once a week lately. Last week they had a school locked down because a parole violator (whose violation was not meeting his PO on time) ran from the cops 1/4 mile away.

The best part of this article is on the right sidebar:

"It's happening inside washing machines. Is it happening inside yours? Hundreds of you asked Ruth To The Rescue for help, so she went right to the top for answers. Is your washer holding clean clothes, or a dirty secret?"

EVERYBODY PANIC

Like woah, I'm working in Troy, MI right now.

Haven't seen/heard anything where I'm at though.

Honestly, I expected more 'big beaver'/exit-69 comments.

/shame it changes names just a few miles shy of 'mound'
// and 'van dyke'

Does nobody remember when Fifth Third was Old Kent only a few years back? I'll probably have to alter my drive today, I go through these areas fairly often.

2007-10-11 01:31:58 PM
RaumVogel Hey, I never claimed it was mine. I grew up in the Lansing/East Lansing area, so I was introduced to that a bit later. I mean, I said my dad mentioned it as we drove by the sign. And I also said it took me a second to get it.

Just sharing the joy with people who can't point to their hand to show where they're from.

I'm from Lansing:

The cops are afraid that the bank robbers are trying to borrow some extra firepower from the kids.

/"You went to public school, so I'll assume you're proficient in small arms."

2007-10-11 01:35:19 PM
There are almost no comments on the actual bank robbery in this thread. They're either about 5th/3rd or Beavers at exit 69. I was expecting somebody talking about the bank robbers arguing entrapment in that they got forced into a school zone by the cops to get their sentences in court up or something. In no way did I read that headline and imagine I would be reading about Big Beaver Road.

2007-10-11 01:38:59 PM
Errr, SnakeLee are you new to Fark, by any chance? You're lucky this hasn't been turned into a heated debate about Hitler, cats, whether it's ok for female teachers to sleep with male students, the Israel/Palestine issue, or any other random bullshiat banging around in Farkers' minds.

/At least "Big Beaver Road" was mentioned in the article.
//So THERE!
