Things to remember when designing a Halloween costume. The awesome costumes are attention getters but their wearers are prisoners in them.
If you're going to party for hours in your costume simple is good. You should be able to talk to people while wearing it, you should be able to walk around in it, you should be able to eat and drink in it and finally, you should be able to use the bathroom in it.

You're wrong.

geetus: FTA = weak.

Marie Antoinette = awesome. One of the best costumes I've ever seen.

/Always wanted to do a good "Pinhead" but 12 hours in makeup + paying a capable artist = way too much effort.

Friend of mine did it, took him just a few hours per night with a latex mold skull cap I helped him create. We got it all perforated and he just slipped it on. We just had to do about 1hr of makeup day of.

You can get all the supplies pretty cheap at a crafts store.

apeiron242: Hmm, so far only Marie Antoinette and Raggedy Anne qualify as Halloween costumes. The rest are just costumes or cosplay. A Halloween costume must be of something scary or someone that met with something scary suggestive, trampy, slutty, or down right pornographic.

Halloween Costumes:
Slutty Angels
Slutty Devils
Slutty Schoolgirls
Slutty Cheerleaders
Slutty Princesses
Slutty Maids
Slutty Cops
Slutty Animals

I was a picnic table for 2 years and won many contests. I got a rectangle cardboard and cut a hole in the middle for my head. I then glued a tablecloth to it and filled the table with plates, cups, silverware, and fake food. I put flowers in my hair as the centerpeice. It was pretty funny, but I had to take it off to get through doors, and my arms hurt holding it up all night.

My brother in law went as Marvin Martian one year. Awesome costume. I will have to pull those pictures out.

That loader from Alien is amazing.

I've been working on my Ghostbusters costume since early June, and it is finally nearing completion. The proton pack is what has been taking so long. It's hard to find time to work on it, and I don't have a really good space in my apartment. It will be awesome if I can get it done before Halloween. Of course, I'm also moving at the end of the month, so packing could interfere.

Senior year of college, I went as the Hamburglar. It wasn't a complicated costume, but I was the only one dressed as the Hamburglar, which is always good. The year before that, I dressed as Cobra Commander. Too bad only guys recognized who I was. One person thought I was KKK and another person thought I was Hitler. Go figure. The year before that, I was Squidward from Spoungebob. I had the extra legs, big nose, bald head, etc. Again, the only person with that costume, which is fun. The year before that, I was Duck Tape Man, which didn't turn out to be as original as I had thought.

Yeah, I really get into doing Halloween costumes. I wish I had some pictures to put up.

Not saying that was me, just going as, still shopping at goodwill for the vest lol.
But it was more pointing out the theme as a counterpoint to the is/isn't costume debate above.

But way to be angry.

Hack Patooey: I saw the best Halloween costume a few years ago. Doorbell rang, and I open it. There were three kids, about 10 or 12, all dressed in pinstripe suits with shoulder pads. Kid in the front had his hair greased back, and the other two guys were holding plastic tommmy guns.

I said "Jesus, its the boys! Sorry Rocko, I didnt know you were coming. Here, take the candy, Ive been meaning to bring it over, really!" and handed them each a handful. They laughed and said "Thanks, don't be late again!" and left.

I laugh every time I think of it.

I lol'd.

There's a much better Bender out there. One with light up eyes and a real cabinet in his chest that was stocked with bottles of beer with labels from the show.

From tronguy's website:

I got lots of helpful advice from Avril "Bronxelf" Korman, who is working as an interior designer (NOT decorator), and knows a lot about art.

That's insane. I went to her wedding several years back. Only reception I've ever been to where they played Oingo Boingo. :)

Frightening to think that I'm a mere 2 steps removed from Mr. Glowing Cameltoe himself!

I was Rosie the Riveter last year. Easiest costume ever. Used my old cadillacs, my husband's old blue coveralls, and a $.99 bandanna from Wally World.

My friend and I as Harry and Lloyd this past halloween.

Hmmm... now I'm really concerned that dick in a box is going to be over-done.

Screw it... I might just go Pheasant hunting that weekend instead. Either that or being a fat guy who crams himself into a sexy nurse costume would be funny as hell. My buddies want to go as Wilson-Phillips, but I seriously have no idea where to find a pants-suit that would fit me.
