I couldn't believe it when he had the yankme hat on. Is he so stupid as to not realize how that's going to effect his endorsement deals in Cleveland?

2007-10-10 01:30:33 PM
I bet he was a 49'ers fan when he was just a wee lad during the 80's, a Cowboys and Bulls fan during the 90's, and a Patriots fan during this decade. No thanks LeBron, we don't want your support.

I had a good buddy growing up whose father was a Bulls and Cowboys fan. He actually said to me one time, "Don't you want to cheer for a winner?" Even being eleven or so years old I knew the guy was an idiot who didn't understand what being a real fan was all about. Being that young though, what was I going to say to my best friend's father?

On a side note, the guy also forbid me from bringing my Iron Maiden/Black Sabbath/Dio CD's over to my buddy's house because they were supposedly Satanic. Hey, his house and his rules and all that good stuff but the guy was a religious nutjob, sitting me down and trying to make me uncomfortable as he pumped my head full of garbage because I guess he didn't think I could think for myself.

The guy was also a racist fark.

Looking back at him now I realize that he was just a sad and bitter fellow, thankfully his son didn't turn out anything like him but last I heard his daughter turned into a total slut and got pregnant before the end of high school. I don't know the details on that but unless he learned from how he handled his son, I'm sure he pretty much pushed his daughter into whatever life she now has.

I lost contact with them following high school but somebody said that my buddy's parents got divorced so good for my buddy's mother, she was always good to me.

Why'd I write that crap? Who knows but LeBron all of a sudden cheering for the Tribe just reminded me of "fans" who change their allegiances depending on who is winning at the time. Sure it is an annoyance but I also think it speaks of real character issues as well though I'd be reading far too much into this funny little story were I to say thing same thing concerning LeBron.

Carry on.

Do you really think he cares when he's getting $80 bajillion dollars a year from Nike?

What Cavs fans should be worrying about is losing LeBron when he becomes a free agent instead of ragging on him for what baseball hat he wears.

This.

If the guy was publicly saying how he wanted a trade to the Bulls because he used to root for them as a kid, that'd be something you should be worried about. The hat? Not so much.

Same goes for the asswipes who got mad (for a few minutes) at Tom Brady for wearing a Yankees hat.

2007-10-10 02:28:40 PM
It was kinda stupid of him to wear a Yankees hat, although assuming he really is a diehard Yanks fan, then I suppose I have to respect him for supporting his team in spite of the fact that he's the biggest athlete in Cleveland. I mean, really, it took balls to do what he did.

2007-10-10 02:31:26 PM
These two teams aren't connected. The Indians and Cavs just happen to be in the same city. It's not like he's playing basketball at Ohio State but wearing a Michigan football jersey to an OSU-Michigan game. So he roots for the Yankees, big deal.

2007-10-10 02:40:59 PM
LeBron is one of these "I root for the winners" fans. Lame, but then again, the boy isn't paid to think so who cares?

Black people don't wear sporting apparel to support a team. The wear it to match their pants/shoes/shirt/jacket.

But it will help in NY...which one is more lucrative?

Suck it, fly town.

I believe what you just typed is a classic example of racial stereotyping, and for this I applaud you.

Seeing as how i learned this from a black guy (Patrice O'Neal), wold that make it black-on-black racism?

Funny that, he has said that if the "you have to be one year removed from your high school class" rule was in place when he went to the NBA that he'd have gone to Ohio State. :)

asmodeus224, Suck it, fly town.

hmmm. i seem to remember the new yorkers chanting 'overrated' at LeBron during the draft, while NE Ohioans were selling out his pay per view high school games. Looks like the fly town had it right.

Oh, and the fly town beat up pretty good on your Yanks. Fly town wins again.

If the Sox win i guess he will have to get a Boston hat.

So are the Reds. He has a team that he follows, he wore that teams hat to a game. It's that simple.

Just let the guy root for who he likes! Damn just cause he now has to WORK in that town doesn't mean he has to like every team that town has. That is downright stupid.

He is a PERSON just like the rest of us...

WOW do i sound like chris crocker.

\\\\Secretly rooting for the Rockies to win it all.

The plausible explanation is that as a Yanks fan he could be rooting for Cleveland b/c they're playing the Sox. As a Sox fan I'd root for whoever was playing the yanks after my team was eliminated.

I like the Steelers in '75
I only like the Broncos when they come alive
I liked the Redskins in '83

Well they're the team for me.

If the guy was a Yankees fan before becoming a Cavs member, what's the problem? Just because some whiny fans get their panties in a wad, you're supposed to change allegiances?

2007-10-10 04:11:05 PM
There's nothing wrong with what Lebron did. Honestly, I was born during a cowboys playoff game. Had I had any football talent at all, I would have made it clear that I had zero intention of signing with anyone but the cowboys. I would gladly spend a year in Canada in order to never have to commit one act against the Cowboys.

Having said that, I can root for other NFL teams within reason; i.e. no steelers, 49ers, eagles, redskins, or giants. Brett Favre and the Packers I will root for as long as their interests do not collide with the Cowboys interests.

/going to the mattresses and all that.

He can like whatever team he likes, but he didn't have to be a dick and wear that farkin hat on tv, it's disrespectful to the city.

/Bob Feller said he's going to sit front row at a cavs game this season and wear a spurs hat.

What are you talking about? It's not his job to respect the city. He's a hired gun. The Cavs fans don't care about him unless he's winning something. Just like how all fans treat all athletes.

I mean, obviously Cleveland is a cesspool. Did you watch Game 2?

They didn't have to show him on TV wearing the hat either.

As a Red WIngs fan living in Toronto ... Well done, LeBron, well done.

Stick with your team, even if it pisses of the locals.

Of course, as a Red Wings fan in Toronto, I get a lot of cheap laughs at the expense of the locals, too, so it's a trade off.

The real question is, what do you do if Peyton Manning is spotted wearing a UT hat at a UT/Indiana game?

Not "my Yanks"...I have no ownership in them, I don't even go to many games. They are a diversion...nothing serious to me. Win...lose...whatever, their W-L record don't pay my bills...and at the end of the day, at least I'm not in Cleveland.
