chickendrink,

your rapturous approval of Harmonia is embarassing...

2002-09-27 12:32:54 PM
Karl Malone, Miss America, now LL Cool J... Who's next will join the dark side?

/wink wink

2002-09-27 12:33:44 PM
Cheerful Slut: By reading your profile I can see you're a good upstanding
conservative. Er, sorry, I mean a good down laying conservative.

2002-09-27 12:34:40 PM
"That is a left-wing vs Christian Coalition issue, and the CC is a small minority of the Republican party."

If that's true, why does the Republican leadership cater to the CC so much?

2002-09-27 12:38:00 PM
Harmonia:
"So Dr learned, anyone who disagrees with your narrow views is an idiot?

So tell me, ever been in the position where you had to consider abortion, or are you just speakig out of your arse?:"

Whoa, there, asshole: I never said anything about idiot! I happen to (mostly) agree with cheerful slut. What do you care?

The reason you are so bitter is no one will put YOU in the position of considering abortion. Maybe you'd get laid if you stopped putting words in other peoples' mouths (or posts, for that matter.)

And for the record,Harmonia, I am pro-choice, but anti-abortion. This is a complex but viable position on the abortion issue, so I do not expect you to understand.

So up your nose (or various other parts of your anatomy) with a rubber hose.

CHICKENDRINK,

Socialist: One who believes in stealing other's property by force of law.

Hypocrite: A Socialist who proclaims a belief in fairness.

And yes I know the apostrophe is in the wrong place. I'm at work and in a hurry when I type these posts.

"The reason you are so bitter is no one will put YOU in the position of considering abortion. "

Since Harmonia is a guy, that is quite logical. And I don't see how that would make him bitter.

2002-09-27 12:43:25 PM
The bible implies that an unborn child is not a living being.

(Just tryin' to throw fuel on the fire.)

2002-09-27 12:43:46 PM
Two points for cheerful slut. Nicely said.

Harmonia.
Its gonna die if you scrape it out with a knife, like most living things.

2002-09-27 12:45:21 PM
The Post had an article about this today as well with a lot more context and, oddly for the Post, a little less sensational. LL actually was basing much of his support of Pataki on his exposure to him working on an assisted living facility in Queens, so it wasn't all 911 stuff. Pataki said he'd never heard any of LL's songs but respected him for his philanthropy and activism... neither of them are as dumb as some of you all are making them out to be. If the rich are 10% of the population and all Conservatives are rich how did they manage to get 47% of the electorate... why are 8 of the top 10 richest members of Congress Democrats... whatever. LL's got balls for sticking his neck out like that, Carson Daly's never going to put him on TRL ever again.

2002-09-27 12:45:29 PM
TheGrayCat, I don't think they cater to the CC all that much. It depends on the particular race, just as Dems cater to minorities heavily in urban areas. I don't recall the Republican party trying to legislate Christian morality lately.

2002-09-27 12:48:37 PM
Bauer, Jesus also instructed YOU to help thy neighbor, not the Roman government. He was no Liberal.

2002-09-27 12:50:56 PM
Someguy,
How do you get that out of that verse?

2002-09-27 12:51:02 PM
Cheerful, DRlearned.

What wonderful inteligent people, please don't resort to calling others names.

2002-09-27 12:51:16 PM
Socialist: One who believes in stealing other's property by force of law.

Oh, thanks Chadman, I thought for a second that you were an unbiased, ignorant, unreasonable person. Good thing you proved me wrong.

"ask a homeless person or those in poverty if more government is infringing on their freedoms"

Most of them (homeless) would probably say yes as there are laws in a lot of states the prohibit people from laying down on the street and panhandeling laws. I dont think more government or laws is going to help those people anyway, you cant legislate people to be motivated to help them selves.

2002-09-27 12:52:10 PM
"Carson Daly's never going to put him on TRL ever again."

Well, LL's got THAT going for him, at least.

TheGrayCat :
"The reason you are so bitter is no one will put YOU in the position of considering abortion. "

Touche!!! I'm sure with his self-righteous liberal "I'm a true feminist" pick-up lines, Harmonia gets laid all the time!! The guys love that stuff!

It still doesn't mean I can't agree with and endorse views in opposition of his.

Plus, by Harmonia's logic, doesn't the fact that he is male mean that HE is talking out of HIS ass?? When has HE had to consider abortion? Glass houses, jerk-off.

More proof that liberals are thoughtless, annoying and pompous.

2002-09-27 12:53:21 PM
This lady loves cool James. grrrrrooowwwwwl.

I like black Republicans. I'm not a Republican or a Democrat - I'm a none of the above - but I'd vote for any black Republican and day. To be a black Republican one must at least think for oneself and have some honesty and character.

2002-09-27 12:53:46 PM
Gold Star for cheerful slut.

IMACODFISH
It's not just the rich who vote for Republicans. It's also alot of the American Dream-chasing middle class. It's also alot of the right-wing ideologists who vote Republican because of social issues like school prayer, abortion, gun control, immigration, and affirmative action.

Democrats draw from some of the rich because of some of their stances on the same social issues. Also, remember that once people get that rich, guilt starts to creep in and they begin to care more about helping the poor. This is also the reason why alot of rich kids become liberals because they naturally begin to feel guilty about being born with a silver spoon.

2002-09-27 12:55:54 PM
Democrats, Republicans. Same scourge, same answer as always.
They're all idiots, nuke 'em all.

2002-09-27 12:56:06 PM
Tyee: Either learn to spell, or don't comment on others' intelligence. Also:
"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me"
- Your Mom.

Relax, Tyee. They're just words, ok?

2002-09-27 12:57:04 PM
Yea, but if he can't get on TRL it's going to be hard for him to drop some science on Britney now that she's putting out. Where else are they going to meet?

2002-09-27 12:57:04 PM
Bauer,
Who has not realized that jesus is all about love, etc? The CC? Then I agree with you.

One of Bush's first acts was to reinstate the family planning gag order so that anyone even mentioning abortion cannot get federal funds, even if they don't conduct abortions themselves or do it with private monies. Also, he has witheld money to the UN program for family planning. Also, all of his judicial nominees 'just happen' to be pro-life in the extreme. Now, whether or not you agree with these is not my concern; I am just showing where the administration has indeed been very much guided by what you called a small part of the Republican party.

Also, if neighbors did a better job of helping each other, the government wouldn't have had to step in in the first place like for labor laws and unemployment and during the depression for welfare. When you have to force good, church-going executives running a company to not make 12 year olds work 14 hours a day 6 or 7 days a week for $1 a week in pay, it's clear that neither neighbors nor the church has been able to keep up with the burden of social justice.

2002-09-27 12:58:31 PM
"Plus, by Harmonia's logic, doesn't the fact that he is male mean that HE is talking out of HIS ass?? When has HE had to consider abortion? Glass houses, jerk-off. "

If you are going to use that logic, then no man should have an opinion on abortion and no man should attempt to make laws concerning abortion.

LudovicoTechnique:

Conservatives can't like sex? Why not? We get just as much physical and emotional pleasure from it as liberals do. Probably more, considering how angry most liberals seem to be.

To those who said I shouldn't stoop to calling names:

You're right. In the event LL Cool J (I believe it stands for Ladies Love Cool James) reads this, I apologize. I'll do my best not to resort to name calling in the future.

2002-09-27 01:01:31 PM
Repug or not, he's now a registered voter! WTG LL!!

2002-09-27 01:01:45 PM
09-27-02 12:54:54 PM Tommyg

So Tommy what are you saying, maybe that "the rich vote Republican" is overused, inaccurate, and wrong?

2002-09-27 01:03:20 PM
My father wanted me aborted. My mother refused. If she had said yes, I'd be dead.

Seriously the only reason I'm against abortion. To anyone who is faced with that choice, please, please consider that your child will thank you for it later if you let him/her live.

2002-09-27 01:03:45 PM
Harmonia doesn't count, he's a subject from the UK.

2002-09-27 01:05:49 PM
TheGrayCat:
"If you are going to use that logic, then no man should have an opinion on abortion and no man should attempt to make laws concerning abortion."

Two points:
1) I am glad you have discovered the flaw in Harmonia's logic. You are smarter than Harmonia.

2) All party and flamewar bullshiat aside, would it really be so bad if men stayed out of the abortion issue? Why would any woman in her right mind listen to idiots like Alec Baldwin or Jesse Helms when it comes to what is clearly a non-legislatible health issue? This is a question, NOT a policy statement.

2002-09-27 01:06:47 PM
I justr feel like adding some more fuel, unless it's been mentioned already.

Until an 'unborn baby' has developed a heart and a nervous system, it is inacapable of being alive.

Also, alive or no, it is still by definition a parasite inside the mother.

That said, abortion is in many cases more than just "rape, incest, or mother's safety" a good option. If the mother can't provide for the child or demonstrate that someone else will, that's the best option. If you can't raise or even feed 'em, don't breed 'em. We're overpopulated enough as it is.

Ahem. Continue flaming among yourselves.

Emilykp:

--I need a word for someone who mistrusts the government--

I believe the word you're looking for is "most FARK members".

Actually, it's a phrase, but you know what I mean...

I think I have been misunderstood. I meant it is nice to see intelligent comments from the two of you, and I wouldn't like to have your credibility destroyed,..... by stooping to lower levels.

2002-09-27 01:09:23 PM
Dr.Jones
Why on earth did your mother tell you your father wanted to abort you? Is she a little nutty or just likes her kids to have low self-esteem.

I have a daughter whose father brought up abortion when I was pregnant. She will NEVER hear about that, though, as it is not important now and can do nothing but harm her.

2002-09-27 01:09:30 PM
Tyee
No, i'd say it was an oversimplification, when the issue is much more complex than that. Maybe it is overused though.

2002-09-27 01:10:30 PM
Wow Harmonia. You are being extra stooopid today.

A rich materialistic masogenistic republican? I've never heard of such a thing.

Ummmm masogenistic????? I think you mean Misogynistic..... anyway you're wrong Ladies Love Cool James!

2002-09-27 01:11:37 PM
Can we PLEASE, leave God out of this, its the very reason pro-life people are so adamant about abortion. Quoting Bible passages solves nothing as it is an ambiguous book taken more seriously by some than others.

2002-09-27 01:11:53 PM
I was raised in a fairly religious household. I went to Catholic School, church every week, etc. I think that most of the CC or Religious Right or whatever you call them these days, are way off base. If they really know that Jesus is love and all that other crap, then they must be confused about what love means. Haven't any of them heard the phrase, "Actions speak louder than words." ??????

2002-09-27 01:12:11 PM
IamEvil
Harmonia doesn't count, he's a subject from the UK.

That explains a great deal. Thank you, IamEvil.

Harmonia: Off subject. You are obviously, for better or worse, a limey liberal. What do you think about Tony Blair's endorsement of Bush's plan to attack The Butcher of Baghdad?

2002-09-27 01:12:28 PM
Krusty,

What about 3rd Bass, 69 Boyz and 95 South. Any political affliliations there?

2002-09-27 01:14:22 PM
all republicans as well as the entire cast of the movie "breaking" and "breaking 2"

:)

2002-09-27 01:15:13 PM
Tyee:

Damn it!! It pisses me off when someone is smarter and more civil than me!! Point well taken, Tyee.

I once thought as you do.

Then I realized, hey wait a minnit, the people who are advocates of "if you can't feed 'em don't breed 'em" are trying to get young people to have lots of sex.

Oh what a crass, simplistic generalization you say. Well look at the facts - these are dishonest people. They say give 'em condoms, they're gonna do it anyway. Take that seriously, am I supposed to? Huh, okay. How about guns? Teach the young 'uns to shoot 'em safely, they're gonna do it anyway? Funny, these people don't back that.

Why not?

And then they talk down to Republicans and Conservatives, "don't trust those people, they don't have enough sex." "Vote for Clinton, Bob Dole doesn't have enough sex." "I vote for Democrats, because Republicans don't get enough sex." blah blah blah.

Can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em? Try crossing your legs once in awhile.

Oh and anyone who says abortion is never used as a contraceptive...look up Madonna's bio. Look up Norma Jean's bio. Then stick it.
