No, it's "do you want some of this?" or "who wants some of this?"

Nice of you to offer, but you're doing it wrong.

2007-10-05 10:31:14 AM
What the article failed to mention was the freshly baked cupcakes in her other hand. She was just trying to give baked goods to students.

Again, Fark makes me ponder:

1) at what point did this seem like the right idea?
2) did she actually think no one would tell?

2007-10-05 11:02:25 AM
This is Florida; she's lucky none of the other students or the bus driver opened fire.

/or the parents

Well, her kid was being bullied by multiple people. If it's one person bullying you, you fight them. If there are multiple people, that's beyond what I'd expect any kid to be able to handle.

So, the father contacted the school. The only thing the school did was send a note home asking the little snowflakes to stop bullying.

Obviously, the school doesn't care.

So, the mom puts the fear of god into these kids and the only price she has to pay is a misdemeanor charge.

I can't really fault her. She did what she needed to do to protect her kid when he was unable to protect himself and the school wasn't willing to do their duty to protect him. I don't think the kids will be farking with her son any more.

2007-10-05 12:11:54 PM
This is exactly why 6th graders should all carry guns

2007-10-05 12:12:38 PM
I thought that kids didn't have rights. Doesn't that mean that we can threaten them all we want?

SchlingFo:

You are better than this.

She did what she needed to do to protect her kid when he was unable to protect himself and the school wasn't willing to do their duty to protect him.

What she did was way above and beyond what she "needed to do".

I don't think the kids will be farking with her son any more.

The ends don't justify the means.

Whoa there.

I was bullied too. It sucked. As were others. Sometimes parents got involved, sometimes older siblings did. But No one ever waved a gun at children. That's insane.

/Had no older siblings
//Parents would sometimes speak to the other parents
///Had to fight
////And get my ass whupped . . .fairly often

Actually they will still fark with her kid. It'll probably be worse and he'll have the stigma of being the kid with a psycho mom the rest of his school days.

Bullies only stop when you kick their teeth in.

The report states Briggs pointed the gun at other students getting off the bus and said, "Does anyone have something to say?" and "You can all get some of this."

Actually, she was misquoted. What she really said was,

"Ok you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?"

"shop smart, shop S-mart"

Yeah, well, 13yo children are little assholes who don't really understand anything short of threats/force. For that, you can thank parents who won't discipline their brats or allow teachers to discipline them.

Of course, now with this incident, Junior is going to have to endure endless "Yo Mamma" jokes. I hope the authorities took the gun away because that kid is going to want to shoot himself.

2007-10-05 12:19:21 PM
If the kid's dad had done it, that would be the end of it - the bullying would be over. But since the kid's mom did it, he's completely farked for the next 6 years.

"Totally irresponsible and totally against the law. You've got a deranged-acting mother toting a gun," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Jefferson. "The most irresponsible thing that could have been done is what she did."

she could have shot them

I'd rather read this article than read an entirely different article 6 years from now where the kid who's been bullied his whole life shoots up his entire school with an assault rifle.

I was bullied daily by 4 kids throwing rocks at me after school. I went to my dad, he yelled at their parents, the kids increased their attacks. I finally tracked them down one by one and beat em when they were looking the other way. Dealing with bullies is something kids need to learn, including the bullies. You push someone far enough...that's an ass whoopin.

/No guns
//Once you pull a gun, that becomes your only option in a confrontation
///I prefer a handy wall to bounce em off of or a big stick...

Instead of using a gun I would have used a taser. Less lethal force but still not a pleasant experience.

I've witnessed several similar incidents at schools here in South FL. Everytime I see an article like this with the Florida tag, I think two things: I'll never forgive my father for moving me here before I was old enough to choose otherwise, and I need to focus all of my energy and resources on getting the fark out of here.

Non-FL farkers, I don't care how crazy you may think your neck of the woods can be - nothing compares to the absolute clusterfark that is Florida.

This brings to mind my theory on parenting daughters.

I have a daughter and 3 step daughters. The oldest of which is 15 and has begun dating. I am very tempted to head down to the school and take a swing at her boyfriend knocking his ass out.

While I might spend a night in jail and possibly end up with some community service it will forever be known that my daughters have that "psycho dad" who once beat the shiat out of a kid just because he was dating his daughter. This will keep the little hormone balls away from my daughters until they get to college?

you got the order of events backwards. she pulled the gun, the dad in response went to the principal, they sent home a note probably as a means of rumor control.

I can't really fault her. She did what she needed to do to protect her kid when he was unable to protect himself and the school wasn't willing to do their duty to protect him. I don't think the kids will be farking with her son any more.

i would wager the kids mess with him more now. i know i would. that kid will never be anything but the freak with the crazy mom for the rest of his school career.

2007-10-05 12:26:22 PM

I wonder if the parents could have afforded a lawyer, because that's probably the only thing that would force the school to take the bullying seriously. The school does need the threat of lawsuit, that's the only language I bet this school understands.

The proper response is to have your kid point out the bullies, then hire some large kids to beat the snot out of them with the promise of much worse if they ever think about messing with your kid again. That's a plan that couldn't possibly go bad.

Yep, what has she proven, that she is an idiot and tormenting him eventually results in his mom getting arrested.

As I read it, there were multiple kids bullying her son. I don't expect anyone to fight off multiple people. No. That goes beyond what a kid should be asked to do to defend themselves. When it's multiple kids bullying one kid, the school needs to bring down the hammer.

The parents tried the route of the school. The school didn't give a fark. They just sent a letter to the parents who didn't give enough of a fark to get the kids to stop bullying her son.

A kid can't be expected to fight off multiple bullies.

They tried the approved route with the authorities who are entrusted with protecting her son while he's in the care of the school. That accomplished nothing.

She protected her son, and it only cost her a misdemeanor. That's a pretty cheap price for ensuring the safety of your kid.

2007-10-05 12:28:41 PM
I feel bad for the kid, and the mom's plight, but the she just took this in a "maybe we should consider moving" sort of direction.
